I can't find a work around and as weird as I know it sounds but I don't want my character constantly impregnated by the fucking Bothrioc every time she goes down to the underground. Is there a way a to get out of the web traps without being impregnated or is that just a thing now?

Eigther you fight them, or, when you are not allowed to do that, your steele is addicted.

But how do you defeat the Quadomme? I have full reflex and full int. and i can't break free of the fucking webs to actually fight.

Perhaps you should not be fighting the spiders. Perhaps you should be running away.

So I honestly have not checked out the quad fights since they're introduction. Hell, I haven't been back to Myrellion since the build in which they were first added. But I figured I should see what all the hubbub is about. And, uh, wow. Are these seriously not officially considered overtuned?

Correct me if I'm wrong about any of the following observations. They're some things I noticed while playing around with 2 different characters and TiTsEd.

- First of all, it seems like it's suicides to try to take them on as a melee character. Every attempted attack is countered by a hit that goes through shields. So my melee tech specialist character was doubly screwed.

- Even with max reflexes, you can start the fight bound, putting you at a severe disadvantage.

- Without near maximum physique it seems that it's impossible to break out of being webbed. So my high aim/reflex and low physique ranged smuggler character had no chance at all with her base stats. I started every attempt webbed and could do nothing to break out.

- During the fight you constantly have to spend 1-3 turns breaking webs, lest you actually get grappled and then having to deal with trying to break out of them again.

- They seem to be immune to being blinded. Not once in about 10 fight attempts on my smuggler, that I had used TiTsEd to give max all stats, did a quad miss a single attack while blinded.

- On top of all that, they basically can become immune to a type of attack for 2 turns. So unless you've edited your character to have all possible class melee and ranged perks, you will be spending a large number of turns not attacking.

Neither of my two characters are really built for lust attacks, so I can't list off any issues in fighting them with lust.

I have to be honest with you, nothing has made me think about cheating in my actual saves before these things. Just to have the stats required to escaped the initial webs and make a run attempt. I know I don't speak for everyone in this community, but I don't personally think that these encounters are good for the game. They are far too common of an encounter, took an average of 5 tiles to run into a fight while I was testing, in a zone that isn't even designed for max level characters. Consider altering their encounter rate in some way. Such as only running into them when level 10+ or only running into them if you chose to help Ara Kei.

Anyways, that's my two delayed cents on them.

-EDIT- I'd like to withdraw the low damage observation. I saw another post mention trying corrosive damage on them. So I took my ranged smuggler and grabbed an NaN Deconstructor and proceeded to demolish quads. So damage is not the issue with them, but I still feel strongly that there is an issue with requiring very high/max Physique and Reflexes to even be able to fight them.

Requiring the player have near max stats in order to fight something isn't a problem. Strictly. Honestly games are more interesting when you aren't expected to be able to crush everything you run into right away. What's a problem is that you need near max stats to even run away from them. These things, judging by what lore I've been able to glean, are very much supposed to be incredibly OP compared to the area they are in. Fair enough. It's a terrifying cave demon that nothing else on the planet would dare fuck with. That in mind: They exist in a map region that you have to pass through to progress in the game, have you bound at the start of the fight half the time, and are really damn hard to flee from. Not being able to kill things reasonably is fine. Not being able to avoid those same things reasonably is not.

That in mind: They are easier to kill using tease. Ever the broken abomination of a combat mechanic that needs massive retweaks that it is.

Thats a fair point and I do pretty much agree with you. These encounters are normally going to be hit around level 7-8 for the average player, and without (current) endgame stats, it's pretty much a guaranteed loss for them. Something should be done about the stat requirements surrounding being bound during the fight and being able to flee.

Honestly the game hyped them up well enough for me to respect that I shouldn't be fighting them yet. Everything from their entrance to their description to the stuff Ara Kei told me when I asked them about their species gave me huge red flags that I should be running away. These are, from what I can tell, creatures that could crush even the Nyrean Queen like a small bug.

Now, CoC had some nasties like that too. But that game was always kind enough to warn you about it. The first time you run into a minotaur your character gets off with a warning message. Waltzing into a tentacle monster gives you a ARE YOU SURE prompt. etc. This is a bit different because this isn't so much 'place you should definitely not be yet' as it is 'wandering boss fight pretending to be random encounter.' So, obviously, something like that wouldn't work here. They need to be easier to escape from, consequently.

NOW of course, I suspect they might also be meant to give the inclination that the player should pass through the area very quickly. It helps that the area is very small and there's virtually nothing down there (outside of a silly mode only 'village' which is just one shop) aside from a pair of optional boss fights tucked away in the corners and the entrance to the final dungeon currently available in the game.

In that case, it's not unreasonable for them to be expected to do some respectable damage before you can get away from them. After all, if you could just go 'lel no' and leave without issue they wouldn't really be very threatening either.

BUT if you're more likely to just straight up die than successfully escape, that just makes that hallway a migraine inducing RNG fest.

Tbh if you have a fire/lava/superheated something or plasma weapon you should be able to break out of webs faster or take a roll to see if you can light them up before they tangle you in them.

Worth mentioning with the fire/corrosion damage distinction that the material they are made of is not necessarily flammable. (Of course, it's not necessarily easily corroded by acid either...)

Well, let’s say weapons with plasma or lava/generates extremely high temperatures/high frequency when attacking can tear through these things with ease.

So...I managed to beat the Quadomme by just shooting the Goozooka at her until she falls over. :v

(Note: NOT FOOLPROOF. May miss. Minimum of 3 shots, recommend at least a full stack of ammo.)

So i decided to revisit the quadommes with my ultra cheat save and i will admit even with all the perks and abilities i did get trapped once in the fight.
This is with all stats set to 150 w/ stormbull and HL dagger as weapons. I do believe the wandering saleman i forget his name sells a acidic weapon that SHOULD eat through there armor making the fight slightly easier. This feels like a boss in a jrpg that is a higher level than you that you have to cheese to beat, i actually like that it makes you think of your lust attacks now
EDIT: His name is Kattom (lol) he also sells a Myr venom thrower that deals lust damage and ignores blindness

The idea that having a corrosive or heat-based weapon should make it easier to escape from the web trap does seem to make sense and provides a way for lower level characters to at least run away from them. Perhaps even some sort of general escape bonus for grabs or binds if Steele has a gooey body or is wearing Nova as armor? You could even add a penalty for having wings or tails to get tangled up. Baring that, some sort of consumable that allowed for instant escapes like a flash grenade or something might solve the issue.

how many complaints will it take to get a nerf?

In one of the other threads there was an admission they are overtuned and will be adjusted. I think the core issue is recognizing what about them is the problem. There are like four problems with them at least, but not everybody recognizes that.

I can beat them rather easily now that I've reached full power by just spamming power strike. Again, the main issue is they are *supposed* to be rather overpowered for the area they are in. The tricky bit is fleeing from them isn't really even feasible in most cases.

The main issue with nerfing them, that is. I don't think they are really *supposed* to be beatable for a player of appropriate level for that area?

There not going to be nerfed this is how nonesuch wanted it.

Nonesuch is just sorting out a package of nerfs for them with J, which will hopefully be in the game next backer's patch.

While I do agree that the quad bothrioc are totally OP and a pita my, erm, complaint, is a little different. In the 2 times one of my Steele's has encountered the quad, while I was meandering my way to the Queen of the Deep, they got both holes stuffed with eggs. 8 in the vag and 8 in bowels. However, the first time Steele 'gave birth' to them, it said that 3 were fertile and 16 were infertile. Um, excuse me?! The last time I checked, eight plus eight equaled sixteen. (Or 8*2) How do I suddenly have nineteen eggs? The second time around, Steele was once again bloated with 8 eggs in the vagina and 8 eggs in the bowels. This time, there was 1 fertile egg and 16 infertile. So that equals 17. Does the game not know how to add?
