Does Killing Imps actually have an ingame effect?

Always kind of wondered if it did anything like reduce the encounter rate. Pretty sure killing the demonic centaur for the centaur pack encounter reduces it's encounter rate, but I don't remember if Imps did the same or if there was any indication in game that it happened.

After killing an insane amount of imps during my latest playthroughs, I feel like I have a large enough sample to say:
It does not, they seem to appear with the same frequency regardless of what you do with them.

Let's pretend that, as your character says, the death of those imps makes Savarra a slightly safer place (or something to that effect)
