Coolest or fanciest ship? (Or your favourite)

Hi everyone, wanted to see what ships everyone uses because they like it rather then just for how OP it is. What ship is your favourite and why?

The Sidewinder followed by the Casstech Z14, both because they're integrated into the main story. With the exception of the Blade, which is Kiro's and I'm thus not comfortable captaining that while she's still around, the others are all generic ships designed to fill specific game mechanic niches and add to the lore of TiTS - both of which they do quite well, I might add, but they just don't have that personal connection the Sidewinder and Z14 do (the only ones that come close are the Aegis MS-XI, since it's used by two of the more prominent NPCs, and the Clydesdale K7, since it's a Steele Tech product).

Sidewinder, mainly because its stats are great, and comes with Olympia (can't have her with any other ship)

But I run with with a different look:
The MaxCorp Cavalier mkII (not used in game, but looks cool af)

I have a soft spot for the MS-XI as it's my forever go-to for my main save. So it's a fave of mine.
Decent enough stats, enough space for the crew I want, I don't need to upgrade its weapons too much to make it good in battle, and simply put it's not the Sidewinder that everyone and their mother has so I don't feel like I'm following the crowd just bc the game gives it to me. :p (Plus tbh, I'm happy enough with it I don't really feel the need to get the Sidewinder to begin with)

EDIT: Also adding that I've never gotten one until now with the new ship interior update so the fact that it has the room descriptions really befitting that of a pleasure yacht (as I do remember it described like that in another thread a while back) actually ups it to 200% for me personally. It really feels like the sort of ship my Steele would get in terms of interior aesthetic/comfort alone.

Yeah, MS-XI is a GOOD ship. BETTER than the more expensive Sledgehammer. Sidewinder dominates it but not overwhelmingly - I, too, never bothered with it.
Kiro's Blade is a wonderful main choice, too, and has 1/3 more storage.

I prefer just tanking everything in the comfort of my...

Clydesdale K7, all-time personal fave. I've had two since it became available:
  • "Brick", I keep as a collector's piece, just added to its ingame description: "This K7 is a discontinued pre-0.8.039 build, where some TLC can squeeze 50% more out of the directional thrusters! (which, in absolute terms, is less impressive than it sounds)" - I didn't cheat the stats, it was like that when I got it :)
  • "Villa", I DID cheat - uh, aftermarket-mod - a bit. +40% more storage space still, +2 module slots... 1 Agility, 0 Armor Defense.

Roleplay value aside, the storage is super convenient, it's a flying warehouse.
And the modularity makes me think of Bounty Hunter ships from SPAZ.
The only thing it can't ever out-min-max other contestants on, is gun. Consider: you can get 300 Shield Defense. Weapons would barely scratch you, INCLUDING the undisputed shield stripper, EM Turret!

... which is its own fixed weapon. Add Missile Turret (often outperforms all else), 2 Power Core Tuners, 2 Shield Upgrades and more Shield Boosters than I've ever needed to use.
Some modules to taste (e.g. 2 Tuned Emitters reduces MG & Missile damage to 1), fill the rest with Advanced Quarters full of warm bodies. The only threat would be another as defense-specced as itself.

  • Your Ship: The Ova’LEK Pussyplug
  • Manufacturer/Model: Ovir
  • The Ova’LEK was a joint project developed by the ovir and the U.G.C. The ovir, new to the galactic community as a whole, needed a ship that suited their needs. Not ones to be front line fighters even on their home planet, the ovir excelled in other areas: stealth and speed. New ovir engineers proved themselves to the galaxy’s best by designing new, more efficient stealth modules and more powerful maneuvering engines. The ovir, it seemed, understood the concepts of stealth in and out of space to a degree not seen by humans before. The Ova’LEK clearly outclassed other U.G.C. stealth ships after its deployment.

I like the Ova'LEK because it's highly modifiable, low cost and available early game. This ship's biggest problem is power generation (thus x3 power core tuners). This config takes down the Moondast Gruss faster than anything else I've tried (which is always my longest battle) and despite the fact that this Steele has no reflexes to speak of the evasion is high enough the Moondast misses a little more than 50% of the time. I'm curious what it might do with an additional thrust vectoring system or an additional sensor suite in place of one of the power core tuners.

I've not taken this config up against the Guardian of Flame but I've taken a slightly different version of this ship up against it and had no trouble. That version was this with the following modifications:
REMOVE: thrust vectoring system, sensor suite, both machine gun turrets
ADD: tuned emitter, power core tuner, machine gun, missile turret
