Jibril yells to Kara: "Captain! Forget about him! We need to leave!"

Kara and his guards stare down the large brute. The large brute taunts him to come hither with an open hand as he braces for them in a stance. Kara raised his sword to the brute's direction. One of his subordinates boops him on the head. He flinched.

"The refugees need us, captain" the female guard looks to the brute, "We'll be back with reinforcements to finish this one off. Let's get to the gate and make sure this one gets back to her family"

Kara grits his teeth, he and the rest of the guard form a wall and they hassle away from the brute and forced Jivril to stay behind them. The brute laughs as he watches the cowardly guards flee before him.

Several minutes later, Captain and his remaining five guards are at the East Gate with a large contingent butchering gangs and psychos trying to leave the city as the civilians try to squeeze into a corner along the wall away from the fighting. The gate is grated and boarded to keep it locked with a large, heavily armored Gentral class Shurifon elf in black and emerald green garbs standing with his Navy personnel.

This large man is name Tzu Vang commander of the Yamikuna a frigate in the Navy famous for stalwart sailors and a a renowned man of his word. His jet black hair and dark elven complexion marks him as the Middle class of Shurifon: Gentral. But his social class is known to be entirely of nothing but soldiers baptized into service. To be a commander of such a high rank amongst the Gentral is a high honor. Something Tzu Vang takes very seriously.

As Captain Kara and his guards rendezvous with the Navy, he's greeted with alarm as some try to attack him until stopping upon seeing his gilded thread on his sash and blonde hair (Gentry status). The Gentral Navy soldier apologized and let them through but stop Jibril as she tries to follow behind them.

"Where do you think you're going, filth!" The soldier shoves Jibril back, "You belong with your kind!"
Kara backhands the soldier and knocks their helmet clean off when they spoke I'll of Jibril.

He grabs them by the collar, "This 'filth' saved my fucking life while you useless Gentral were back here cowarding at the gate like children!" He shoved the soldier away, "GET OUT!!"

The soldier takes three men and women with him and salutes the captain. They disappear and Jibril follows behind Kara closely as to not get separated. As he approached commander Tzu Vang, they greet with the common arm grab shake then smile warmly.

Tzu: "Captain"
Kara: "Commander"
Tzu: "Where's the rest of your patrol?"
Kara: "Dunwich. The Chesires ambushed us on our way here, we cleaned up the stragglers save for one magic caster still behind us killing more people."
Tzu: "They will be in my prayers. You have my sympathy, for your loss. I wager what I heard earlier this Nagini saved your life?"
Kara, he pulls Jibril forward: "Yes, this one saved the rest of my squad from the ambush and aided us in killing over thirty of them. I'm afraid she got separated from her family on our way here. Some refugees came this way, a lizardman and two younglings are with them."
Tzu, pointing to the crowd along the wall: "Plenty of them to chose from. Be my guest. But why would they come here? Our orders are to lockdown the city."

Captain Kara addressed the commander formally: "I've been instructed to relieve you of you post here. The Hierarchs sent word for you to quell the rioting in Russel while my unit guards the gate."
Commander Tzu: "Hmm, I wish I could. But without documents for verification, I cannot"

Commander Tzu crosses his arms.

Jibril searches around the refugees and the two boys run up to Jibril to hug her legs. "Jibril!" The boys whip their tails side to side in excitement to see her back. Kor'da comes running up to her and whisks her off her feet into his arms. He nuzzles his snoot into her cheek with a welcoming purr. He squeezed her hard before letting her fall to the ground holding her shoulders.

"You okay? Are you hurt?!" Kor'da asked looking her over not seeing any wound just a lot of blood (not hers).
"Thank the gods, you're okay as well" Jibril says, smiling with a happy hiss, "I'm okay. I'm just really tired, too much excitement for a morning"
"Thank the spirits!" Kor'da replies, "They won't let us through. They're willing to defend us until more reinforcements come but that can take hours."
"We need to escape before my boss leaves without us" Jibril says shaking her fist, "There HAS to be a way out of here!"

Jibril looks around the gate and searches for clues on how to get through or find an alternative route out. So far, the area around the gate is a safe zone ... For now.

(East Gate)

The steel gate is three inches wide and tall between bars towering to twenty feet tall and equally as wide. The portcullis itself (just learned a new word, yay) has ports around the columns to shot arrows through and a wall of guard above to watch over the gate while a large group of fifty men and women guard and fend off the rioters trying to breach the gate. The guard post inside the portcullis' tunnel leads to the control room where several pulleys and levers open and close the gate.

There's a sewer grate that vents out excess water from this side of the district when the place floods during hurricane season. It's very small to fit through with a two feet width and a foot and a half tall opening. Requires something to remove the rusty bars on both ends of the wall.
(END)

Jibril asks the refugees for information about the district's gate. She learns from a few worried parents that there's a grate next to them that can help her slip through and hide it from the guards using the refugees as cover.

Thanks to her selflessness: Jibril earned the respect of several of the Navy soldiers when the Shurifon guards she had saved mingled with them and getting patched up from the fight. A few of these Navy soldiers are willing to turn a blind eye to Jibril and her family if they require assistance getting into the portcullis guard post.

Captain Kara comes over to Jibril after she had done some inquiries and he shakes his head: "I'm sorry. We're stuck here for the time being, Commander Tzu is an honorable man and doesn't hold contempt for non-elves. Everyone will be safe here but for how long until the gate opens I do not know."

What does Jibril want to do here?

Kara looks back to the commander then back to Jibril: "To hell with this, let's do it"

Kara goes around and collects the guards under his command. Explaining Jibril's plan to them, they collectively nodded and agreed. Some walked away and they passed the word around to their friends to turn a blind eye to their advances in the portcullis post. They were ready.

Using her advantage, the Navy soldiers guarding the gate were persuaded to 'take a break' and let the volunteer guards take their place and stood watch. Kor'da stood by the gate leaning up against the corner of the wall with a friendly soldier willing to cover him. The two of them talked while Sim'one and Kak'lin mimicking themselves playing around with a few of the kids but they check on their father every few moments for the signal to leave.

Jibril walks with Captain Kara around the portcullis and watched the commander walk away to get his soldiers to push back the tide of rioters and orders the battle mages to ward off the center flank with Earth magic. There's a magically formed wall of stone that forms and walls off a quarter of the center but it's taking time to build up and the commander is too focused on the crowd to worry about what's happening behind him. Kara and Jibril quickly run up the stairs to a room two stories up.

The portcullis gate lever is a capstan (vertical axel that's on ships to lower or raise anchors) this device has two pokes on the top of the axel to turn clockwise and counterclockwise. The rode (chain) is attached to the axel which feeds into the stone flooring moved by gears and cogs. Kara and Jibril take their places while one of Kara's female guard takes watch.

They begin to raise the portcullis but they struggle hard to move it. This will take ten minutes at this rate. Kor'da sees the gate move a few inches per second but the commander doesn't take notice with the rioters being so loud. This is taking too long.

Kor'da looks to the men of the families they came with and calls them over. Asking for a favor in helping Jibril and the captain: they can join them in escaping with their families. The men agreed and pushed two on through, the loyal men to Kara and the aiding Navy soldiers are nervous but they ignore it.

Two more join Jibril and Kara in moving the capstan quickly and progress has been made more quickly.

[Keep going?]
[Try wedging the portcullis and escape now?]

Gate progress: 12 inches from the ground = time to max: 8 minutes

Tar’Lak looked around the area as the elf soldiers attacked and arrested everyone in site. A growl leaps from his throat as he draws his knife and readies his spear. “We make for the gate.” He says as he launches forward in the direction of the gate stabbing and slashing at anyone who gets in there way.

[Tar'lak]
Red-Eye shines his best toothy grin, looking from the window, "Hells yeah"

Kicking out the front door, the two sprint through the garden courtyard of the Last Breath. Red-Eye's coat flutters behind him as he shuffles around inside the magical bag to remove a skinny looking metal object then closes up the bag and raised his pistol up to his mouth to the butt and removed the similar looking object out from inside the weapon. Red-Eye hums while he changes out the "clips" he calls them and pull back the slide to cock the gun back until it clicks. He looks inside, sees a small object in the chamber then the slide springs forward with a loud clank. Following Tar'lak's lead through the courtyard, they see a squad of six Navy soldiers marching with a small group of tied up lizardfolk and other elves big and small.

Tar'lak tackles the first two soldiers then stand them in the neck, rips out the throat of the other. Raising his spear up to skewer the charging soldiers rushing blindly at him. They impale themselves midway through the shaft, Tar'lak's spear hikt at the bottom firmly planted into the ground applied leverage to his weapon. The force of the spearhead catches them by surprise and they fold over the shaft dropping their swords gripping the shaft skewering them in the belly. Tar'lak rose and pulls the head of his spear out the other side of the soldier and throws his knife at the shocked Shurifon elf shaking in his boots. Direct hit! Knife flings into their skull and with a kick behind him: Tar'lak retrieved his spear now coated entirely of blood. He reaches down to retrieve his knife from the murdered soldier but had a little bit of trouble doing so. The bone fragments grind away at the steel blade and with a twist, pulling it up, a large gush of blood shoots out of the forehead.

Red-Eye slows down on approach looking over the dead soldiers: "Fuckin' hell. Glad I'm on your side" Red-Eye turns to the civilians, takes out his combat knife from his boot and starts cutting the people's restraints.

"No worries, good people! We're on your side!" Red-Eye says with a smile, cutting the last of the rope from the chain of families. Tar'lak: "We need to move"

"Right! Off we go" Red-Eye says with enthusiasm, a man grabs the his arm.

"Wait! Take us with you!" The man with his lizardwoman wife. Red-Eye gestures with a two finger salute goodbye before the two haul ass out of Dunbar Row.

Continuing their stride up the boulevard, more soldiers pour out of the buildings and knocking people senselessly against walls. Tar'lak vaults over a vendor stall and Red-Eye runs up a stack of crates on the opposite side of the street and hops over into a wagon and tilts it forward. The two narrowly avoided the group of soldiers. The soldiers detach a pair of runners after the two and picked up the pace.

Turning up at the bridge with another armed escort marching prisoners from gangs. Red-Eye takes aim at the soldiers: 4 of them, two on each side of the chain gang. Bang-Bang-bang-bang! Bullet hits the first two soldiers squarely in their exposed faces and ringing their helmets. Red-Eye swings beneath a falling dead soldier he shot. Throws the corpse into the chain gang, knocking the group off-balance. The chain gang folds and topples the other soldier opposite of Red-Eye. Red-Eye kicks the chainmail wearing soldier in the jewels, blasts them in the back of their helmet as they crumble forward after recoiling from the blow to their balls. Grabbing the gun with both hands, Red-Eye finishes of the last gang slammed against the railing of the bridge - killing them with a headshot.

"Whoooooo!!" Red-Eye screams, "Didn't miss a single shot, baby!!" Tar'lak slaps him across the back of the head: "Ow!"
"Quick your showboating!" Tar'lak scolds.

Tar'lak rushes pass the chain gang, Red-Eye shakes his head uttering: "Party poopers"

Making it to the checkpoint at Dunwich, the captain the the blockade sees the Tar'lak and Red-Eye sprinting towards them. The soldiers raised their spears and braced for a clash with them as the captain raised a hand, yelling: "Halt!"

"Not today!" Red-Eye says, as he claps his hands together, rubs them conjuring a large magical seal with small symbols and glyphs. As Red-Eye was reaching a point to deploy his spell, the guards hoo off the wagons and crates to confront him. Sliding to a knee and touching the ground with his hand: a large tsunami of dirt and stone rips upward and rolling towards the blockade and sweeps the area. The guards fling off towards the sides with the wagons upturning and crates breaking again at the wall of the nearby buildings. Tar'lak sprints climbing up the back of the Earth spell and rides it like a surfboard over the guards before it was dispelled and Red-Eye jolts to his feet to follow close behind Tar'lak. Tar'lak felt the dirt and stone crumble beneath him and jumps off and lands on the ground with ease and kept his stride with Red-Eye keeping up beside him neck-and-neck.

"For a surface dweller, you have a lot of surprises!" Tar'lak huffs stowing his knife into his sheath and running.
"I'll take that as a compliment!" Red-Eye says but he's obviously running out of breath. "Holy shit, I need to stop smoking"

Red-Eye clenches his chest and coughs. He exhales quickly and brushes the sweat off his forehead. Tar'lak rolls his eyes in his skull at the man before he looks forward and see a bunch of dead bodies laying in the streets. Tar'lak sees the corpses of civilians and what Red-Eye calls "Scabs" referring to the Chesire and Red Fangs running amok of the place.

Reaching the end of the street, Tar'lak stops Red-Eye with a strong arm. Using a sixth sense, he notes that the brute before them is enhanced with magical Mana emitting off his body. "Tread carefully" Tar'lak warns. Red-Eye unafraid of the brute, "Fuck 'em. We gotta get through here"

The brute comes forward with a large axe and his tattoos glowing ready for a fight. Red-Eye scoffs, "Seriously?" Red-Eye raised his gun towards the brute, he is caught off guard by the sight of the weapon. Bangbangbang!!

The brute falls to the ground, Red-Eye takes a showman's bow then gestures the way with his hands: "After you"

[Should Tar'lak say something?]

Jibrilb shouts to the volunteers: "Put your backs into it! We're almost there!"

Gritting her teeth as the men push with more vigor into the capstan, turning it faster. The guard on watch calls up to Captain Kara: "We're almost through, captain!"

The captain to the group: "That's it! That's it! Keep it up people!"
"Hey!!" A voice shouting at the group.

The female guard turns and sees a soldier behind them coming from a doorway to the wall standing there shocked to see them. Quickly, the female guard springs at them and wrestles them to the ground and covering the soldier's mouth to stifle his yell for help. Captain Kara breaks off to help his subordinate restraint the soldier, knocking them out with his greave covered fist. The soldier is out cold, the subordinate quickly exhales after a panic attack: "Thanks, captain" the captain helped the woman up. The two return to the capstan with the woman helping out move this thing along faster.

Outside the portcullis, Kor'da sees the gate raising faster and the volunteers see it as well and the creaking of the gate stirs up loudly as it heaved and moaned. The commander takes wise to the gate and turns to see that the gate is currently 5 feet off the ground!

"Who's opening the gate!!" Tzu Vang yells at the guards pretending to be at their post. The large man storms through his men and women with a clear intent of putting a stop to the culprits.

Uh-oh

Kor'da has to do something. He rushes the commander and tackles him to the ground. They wrestle and toss around but Kor'da was strong and relentless. Kor'da yells to the refugees: "RUN!! Run through the gate!!"

The refugees take notice of the scuffle and the volunteer guards shout at the refugees to follow them, gesturing to run through the bottom of the gate quickly while they have a chance to escape. The fathers and mother's help get their children through the bottom of the gate while the volunteer guards form a line to block off the soldiers coming at the refugees and seizing the portcullis!

The pressure is on.

The female guardsman looks out the port hole in the wall and sees that the refugees are throwing their kids under the gate and rushing through. "The gate is up! We need to go!"

The Captain removes a large plank and wedges the thing into one of the ground holes at the base of the capstan. The axel is set, the gate stops moving with a 10 foot clearing.

Jibril follows the rest of the group after a moment to take a breath. She's already weak and fatigued, Kara sweeps under Jibril's arm and helps her downstairs. Once outside the portcullis guard post, Jibril sees Kor'da wrestling the commander on the ground. Simone and Kaklin are cheering their dad on as they fought. Kor'da yells at his boys to run through the gate, but it was a bit too late as the Navy soldiers latched onto them.

The two younglings fight to free themselves from their grasp. Tzu Vang whips his leg over and locks himself around Kor'da's stomach and pinned his head with a Full Nelson. Jibril is exhausted from earlier but when she sees Kor'da fending off the commander and the boys ...

The Marker vibrates in her bandoleer harder and hums loudly.

Then suddenly, the soldiers were overwhelmed by the rioters. Swarms of ranting and raving lunatics storm the gate and fought the Navy en masse. Bludgeoning, hacking and stabbing, the rioters broke through the lines of defending soldiers and guardsmen. The soldiers repelled many of these rioters but eventually they fall from sheer force alone.

Captain Kara orders his guards to aid Jibril retrieve the two boys while she quickly goes towards Kor'da to help him. But as she approached the two brawlers, Jibril was taken by surprise and her numb reflexes didn't earn her enough time.

She collapses with a blunt strike to the face. Jibril was knocked unconscious for a brief time. When she slowly comes to, she sees the rioters swarming around the gate and picking off Navy soldiers. She looks and sees that Sim'one and Kak'lin were gone. But Kor'da, he was on the ground beside the commander.

All three of them are on the ground when a group of Chesire walk on over after the siege was a success. The leader of this group kneels down with a pickaxe and stares at Jibril who is looking back at them.

"Look like this one has breath" They say, blue smile painted across their face. "You'll make a fine pair of shoes."
Another Chesire: "Can we skin this other one?"
The leading Chesire: "No. We skin the Ghasha Bitch first! Take these two and throw 'em in the pile."

The Chesire start pulling Kor'da but have trouble moving such a lumbering figure that it takes five men to drag him off. Two random people take Tzu Vang off towards the butcher shop just within walking distance from the gate. With the leader of the Chesire group looking away, Jibril bleeds from her forehead and missing a fang from her left incisor.

She felt weak, vulnerable ... just like her nightmare ... just like before.

As she watched the rioters butcher the commander and parade his entrails through the streets with his head on a like. The rioters celebrate their hostile takeover of Russel and soon to be Dunwich as the largest crowd of angry elves and humans March with pitchforks and lit torches coming from the westward street from the coast and carrying more corpses of dead Navy soldiers and the crowd wearing patchwork armor or the armor of the fallen.

When the rioters turn to Jibril, they have an executioner's axe dragged around with a oaf carrying it. She's tossed beside Kor'da along with other bodies and the oaf lurks around looking to hack up anyone still breathing.

Jibril's Marker begins to pulsate like a heartbeat. Calling to her to reach for it.

The arrow from Tar'lak's bow strike it true against the backside of the brute's shoulder. Red-Eye looks to Tar'lak after he made the shot: "I blew out his head pan with this thing. I'm pretty sure he's dead"

There was a deathly groan coming from the brute that echoed like a reverberating voice in a cave. The brute shuffled and leaned upon his axe as he rose to his feet. There was a laugh as his eyes glowed yellow and blood ran from his mouth, forehead wound and both holes in his chest. "We will not die so easily"

"Oh shit" Red-Eye exclaimed, "How the hell are you-" he noticed the eyes glowing: "Ooooh, but that's bad though"

The brute is possessed by a malicious spirit, most likely powerful enough to be so capable of bringing back the dead.

Jibril reaches her bandoleer to undo her pouch sheath and pulls out the Marker. The relic is no longer silver and copper with a crystal clear gem: it was a deformed blackened metal in the shaped of the star looking symbol the gem was now a vibrant crimson that brings brightly into Jibril's eyes.

When she looked at it, the gem made a presence that it ... was looking back at her.
A pair of scarlet eyes flash inside her mind before she hears Kor'da moving beside her. He's unconscious as the lumbering oaf with the executioner's axe drags the lizardman on over to a stone slab. The oaf throws Kor'da onto the slab and stretches him out to get himself angled right.

Hefting his axe above his head, he takes aim for Kor'da, he swings low ... stops.

The Marker's gem blackened then burst into a wave of energy that froze the the space around Jibril. Time had slowed down to a standstill to wear the blade of the axe rested an inch over Kor'da's neck. Jibril is stretches out with her hand raised up as the Marker vibrates and goes completely silent and still as well.

There was silence, the world was a dim greyscale version of itself and the only thing able to move was a figure.

A tall, musculine man towering at 9 feet tall, Human, his body is top heavy with rippling muscle and no amount of fat on him. He was stark naked, but his appearance was abnormal in which his hair was black as midnight and quill like. His spine continued to extend into a long, large prehensile tail with spikes lining it. His manhood and legs were covered in oily shadows that swallow him up to his torso. The shadows formed a tuxedo style suit with a necktie that tucked into his dress coat.

With a step with his bare feet into the muck, there was a faint pulse that vibrates in the air that can be felt I side the hearts and minds as clear as someone's listening to another's chest. The man looks around for a moment and cracks his neck until it popped.

When he turns, his eyes radiate with glowing red sun's that brushes over the area until they settle on Jibril's Marker that glowed only for him. The man approaches and his eyes begin to dim as he comes closer and Jibril notices more of his features. A strange sense of welcoming warmth can be felt when she looks at this man's olive complexion and strong statuesque features as he were chiseled from marble and sculped in clay to be the perfect male specimen.

They spoke with confidence and a tender voice, an assuring voice that was as calm and collected but deep and hallow: "My name is Kane" he says, "and I would like to say: Hello"

His eyes lock into Jibril's. She was now able to speak but not move.

Tar'lak strikes the brute, but they were unmoved by the strike. The brute removes the arrow and snaps it between their fingers. The brute raised his axe with both hands and flings it at Tar'lak. Red-Eye whips his hand before him and raised it up to call forward a column of earth using a spell without an incantation. The axe strikes the column, Red-Eye pokes his head to the side to address Tar'lak: "Says the spider to the fly!"

The brute walks forward and grins widely, so wide that it was disturbing enough to be unnaturay as wide as it is. The brute let's out a loud bellowing that bursts into an area of effect spell the summons the dead to raise around Tar'lak and Red-Eye.

"Oh, for fuck sake!!" Red-Eye shouts, dropping a hand to the ground, he casts a spell forming a magic seal around Tar'lak and himself.

The shuffling of the undead Chesire and psychopaths form around the two while the possessed brute walked normally towards them. The undead walk into the seal but cannot move through an invisible barrier warding them off.

Weakly: "h-h-help him! And the kids, please!!"

Jibril tries to move but it's like she's so numb and adrift in a wave of water she can't feel. Weightless. The man who introduced himself as Kane looks down at her then perks up his black dress pants to allow himself to crouch down and resting on his feet. His hands reach up and he rests his chin on them just watching her.

"Why would I do that?"

Kane giggles and just smiles at her. Inhaling the air around her, there's a faint stream of red trails of Mana flowing away from Jibril. He slowly exhales before letting out a satisfactory sigh like a small orgasm. Kane looks to her with squinting eyes: "That's not how this works"

Kane reaches down, grabs Jibril up by the nape of her neck with ease and sets her up on her feet like a mannequin. He adjusted Jibril's pose and her eyes slowly move as Kane examines her and doing circles around her.

"The Marker acts on your desire. It can sense opportunities to call upon me to come. Like a moment of desperation just before death" Kane says factually, "But there's always a catch, isn't there?"

Kane settles to stand before Jibril: "You've had a brush with me more than once in a single day. Now that I am here, I can smell your Marker!" He says taking a big waft of the red mist that emits from the burning Marker in her hand. "The Essence you've collected in the decanter gem is full. And yet ... you were not the only host"

Kane turns to Kor'da then gleams back at Jibril with a wicked smile.

Kane looks to Jibril then drops the polite act: "I want everything you and your lover have ... Jibril of Medressa"

He waltz up to Jibril, his eyes still glowing, he pierces her gaze and stares into her soul. She feel a metaphysical presence that send chills up her spine as her heartbeats faster and faster as if he's reaching into her chest to rip out her heart. But all he's doing is staring into her eyes with a seductive look.

"Your money means nothing to me. Your earthy wealth has no merit. Your soul, your flesh, your sanity is what I desire ..." He teaches down to Jibril's belly and he pressed his hand up against her. "... and the life of the young living inside you."

He rubs her belly lovingly: "As a Dark God of Fertility, death and fleshy things are my domain. But I am a reincarnation of the first if my line. Vengeance and Wrath are now my purpose. As long as there is life, there will always be me."

He continues:

"Life for a life. Favor for a favor. Trade for a trade. Kor'da Slaven-Claw is on the verge of meeting oblivion with no maker, no ancestral spirit. His soul will wander the earth just as the undead cling to the recently deceased."

Jibril hears the disdain growl in his voice, almost reptilian.

"To deny me fresh death is an affront to the natural order!!" Kane says, loudly but he quickly shifts back to Jibril. "But you don't care. You think I want you to make demands of me without anything to trade in return? Hah!"

Jibril: "What do you want then?!"
Kane: "That's entirely up to you. I am a fair and reasonable man, offer me something of great value and I will do so in equal measure. But offer me yourself as a service, that can be a commitment to something you may not like. Choose wisely"

Kane looks to Kor'da: "As for him, he'll live without complications. I wouldn't worry yourself about Sim'one and Kak'lin. They're with the good Captain beyond the walls"

"I don't know what I have that I can possibly offer you as a fair trade" Jibril says straining in her erect state.

Kane removes his hand from her belly and raised it to his chin and thinks for a moment. He returns his look to her with a thought raising a single digits up.

"Perform a service for me" Kane answered, "This city possesses a relic of interest. You know this relic."

When he says this, a flash of the Alter in the basement of the Dunwich tenement where all of the dead people lay dormant. The image focuses on the crystal ball resting in the mouth of the decayed Dark Elf. The flashing vision ends.

"Retrieve the relic and bring it with you to New Canaan. I want this object. It is a key to a mystery of Necromancy magic that I desire to understand. Agree to do this for me, the Marker will be satisfied."

He stands there for a moment, color returns to Jibril as she's able to move from her frozen state in this greyscale space of Russel. She collapses but catches herself and straightens herself up. Kane reaches out a hand.

"Do we have an understanding? Once you've vowed to undertake a blood oath, you cannot break it. Completing your task and fulfilling your oath is your only salvation. To break your word is to suffer a fate worse than death, you will become a Notata. Marked. A slave of your own making, forever bound to my will to consume life." Kane states.

Kane cranes his head down to her to meet at eye level, retracting his hand. "In a moment, your beloved will be executed, butchered beyond recognition. Meanwhile, his sons will live on without a family nor a home to call their own. You believe this world is any different outside of this city?"

He pulls back and looks down to her.

"You have a choice. Either die as another person's prey, become a slave and labor for eternity without hope, or make the deal. The choice is yours."

Kane raised his hand and with a snap of his fingers, many black swirling portals form on the ground. Out from the portals of darkness, serpents with Angler fish looking faces stretched out and float with their glossy metallic black scales. Their red glowing eyes emit the same brightness as Kane's. These 'Darklings' as he calls them extend across the area collecting white lights and sucking out bloated white orbs from the dead bodies. Other Darklings swarm the dead ripping and tearing into the flesh and swallowing entrails and limbs whole with their jagged teeth and glowing bulbs glow further and further back on their bodies as if recharging a battery.

Kane and Jibril watched as the dead bodies are feasted upon. Kane points out the red misting the bodies emitting are Blood Essence while white orbs are souls in concentrated form: Life Essence. He returns to Jibril.

"I understand that you face a great challenge ahead. So I will bestow upon you a gift" Kane says summoning a Darkling to his shoulder that slithers into the palm of his hand. "Allow this one's venom to enter you, but be warned however, the change is potent. Your scales will be as tough as dragonscales, your strength in equal measure. Your ferocity will be relentless and unyielding. You vitality encased in stone and promised only to me and no other."

Kane also remarks something else as well: "I know of your reason to leave. Do so at your leisure, ask Draco to aid in retrieving this item of interest. You'll find that Canaanites possess enough capable people. A fire is a measly thing for a few mages and sorcerers. Your woes are your problem."

Kane emphasises his offer as the Darklings had consumed everything in sight leaving only the blood trails and pools behind. Those that were still living were still and unmoved. Jibril glares hostility at Kane.
