I never liked the game but it's always sad to see someone get screwed by somebody else, financially.

Ouch.

To be honest I was rather skeptical about the whole development considering they hadn't released anything meaningful since January. Just yesterday I was replying to someone on YT about how risky Patreon and Kickstarter projects are - just because you throw your money at them doesn't guarantee a release at all, and that the whole system works pretty much like a fair-chance lottery with very little consumer protection. It sucks to see one of the best funded ero games bite the dust... hopefully this will serve as a lesson, both for the consumers and the developers themselves - 1)be careful of who you trust and 2)never give someone you barely know too much power with little consequence, specially if they live far away. The thing with internet connections is that it gives people a special sense of security that extends to "hit-and-run" tactics - if they screw up or feel like dropping out on an important project, its very easy to do so with little consequence.

Besides, what HBomb is doing, although understandable, is bordering on 'illegal'. He/she is basically inciting someone to attack S Purple and ruin whatever future projects he may have and possibly even endanger his life - because the internet is full of crazies who will shoot you just for saying the wrong thing, stealing thousands of dollars from them will only make it even more 'justifiable' in their minds. Airing your dirty laundry like this with a passive-aggressive attitude ins't the best way to get people on your side either, no matter how right you are... If S Purple is unreliable and untrustworthy, HBomb seems to be vengeful type that will get back you for doing the wrong thing - not exactly stellar images to have as a developer either way... but that's just my opinion. Besides, if things have been going like this for a while then why didn't  they inform people about what was going on? What if S Purple hadn't said anything? They were receiving more than 30k per month so it was their responsibility to say something... or at least put an halt to the project... but they didn't. Because it was convenient to their wallets.

That aside, as much as I like the idea of supporting indie developers, situations like these HAVE to be stopped otherwise the trust level between both parties will drop so low it only hurt the entire indie market and anyone who relies on Patreon + Kickstarter to make a living.

With his post taunting that his dropbox account is insecure, he is indirectly inciting criminal action. H-Bomb is foolish when he thinks that saying "Wouldn't it be funny if..." somehow protects him from legal action when someone does take over the account.

I think it's still in the preparation phase OR S Purple deleted it after it got out what a shit he pulled (and will try to make it under a different name)

That could have happened.

it's very likely Patreon got wind of this and decided to wash there hands of such an underhanded practice of a person and simply booted them from their service.

That also could have happened.

That contract was far too in favor of S-Purple.

I hope the mother fucker burns! This was the first project I ever believed to be worth my money and that I actively supported and sank hundreds of dollars into. I have followed this game from day one and always believed that it was going to be truly magical, and for a long time it was. It had great gameplay, fun characters, and hard sex. Now that one asshole has decided to ruin it I am truly seething with rage. If I ever find that fuckers patreon page I'm gonna make sure everyone know what the son of a bitch has done!

Wow. I'd always been pretty critical of Breeding Season, but I did not expect this level of dysfunction. :|

On the one hand I feel bad seeing something collapse in such a dramatic fashion, but on the other, I feel like it was inevitable. Breeding Season struck me as nothing but disorganized and mismanaged from the day I first heard about it, and the actual game itself left a lot to be desired. I never understood why it garnered so much attention and, more importantly, so much funding...

I also have a tough time understanding why it got so much funding. I always just assumed people couldn't wait for the next free version, which was always soooo late in order to tempt you. As far as the game is concerned, it is not nearly what it should of been with that funding. That is a ludicrous amount of money, and all that seemed to be wasted on unneeded additions, and subtractions. This game should have been done a long time ago.

Well it seems they had management problems and at least H-Bomb wanted to hire a person to help them with that (streamline what they should work on, what things to ignore for now etc.), but S Purple seemed to be against the idea (and due to his contract he had as much to say as H Bomb). So they had (for the most time) two ppl that wanted to create a game but without ANY idea how to organise it/determine what features are important and should be worked on

They should have had an actual Team Leader, rather than an Art Director.

Quote from the blog:

Consistently throughout the project I have regretted that decision. I essentially made him my partner, and as a result nearly every decision I've made has been filtered through him; he has consistently made stubbornly unreasonable decisions borne out by a poor understanding of the actual management of a project, rejected my proposals to hire a project manager (something I promised to patrons and we've sorely needed throughout the entire project) or additional animators, made in equal parts incredibly greedy and capricious decisions, continually forced revisions of existing assets that prolonged the project by a massive amount (in some cases making us throw out months and months worth of work), and went over my head multiple times to violate my explicit directions. He has been, consistently throughout this project, a massive source of inflating the scope of the game in completely unreasonable ways, meanwhile being completely oblivious to the amount of work he has been forcing on others.

As it reads S Purple blocked the hiring of a manager and was the main source for those slow releases and the COMPLETE OVERHAUL that set them back multiple months. Many surely remeber that it was quiet strange that they "decided" to overhaul the Ui system and other things even though it was already fully functional and fine and most ppl just wanted more content BEFORE any overhauls

Being honest, it looks interesting, and it could be good. Maybe just under the direction of someone else. I just found a little fact about S-Purple.

This isn't the first game he abandoned, apparently he also abandoned a game called Broquest.

Truly a shame that they let him do that. It's always a good idea to have a solid structure when running a business.

I'll admit the game looks interesting. But I refuse to play it based on principle. My only hope is anyone that was roped into helping S-purple run while they have the chance.

This is why it's always better to have a third party write your contract and not you or someone else dictating who gets more control over stuff than the other person/persons on the project. The best thing the project lead (person who wanted to make the project come to life and brought a team together to do it.) should have done was not to give so much control over to someone else. Making another team member, especially the artist to have such a huge hold over the project's assets is the biggest mistake anyone can make when making a contract out. It's better to have a third party, possibly a lawyer write up the contract that way you do not get screwed over by other people.

And someone already pledged 11$ to the project.

Honestly the art style looks cool and the concept seems interesting, but considering the bomb that just dropped of AND the fact he has a history for being unreliable (doesn't finish projects) makes me extremely leery of him and any future project he may take part of, with or without a leading role. If HBomb and S Purple end up suing each other, there's a very good chance this project won't go anywhere for a while simply because the assets he wants to use (his old art) is locked up till one of them wins the case.

I'm glad I stopped backing this more and more by the day. Another potential game slain by terrible fucking people.

If HBomb and S Purple end up suing each other, there's a very good chance this project won't go anywhere for a while... simply because it seems he wants to use some of his old artwork on this new project (and that's not going to possible till the process is over and a party wins).

I don't think HBomb has any legal ground to be honest. S-Purple thought of everything, and left HBomb in the dust. I never thought Breeding Season would ever be finished, as it kept getting features stripped and replaced with less popular features.

That's just business 101. If you don't have a lawyer read over your contract before it is signed. Then that sucks, you should have been more careful. Now S-Purple owns everything Breeding Season worked on, and HBomb is being forced to delete all the assets.

Running off with other people's money though (people who supported the previous project he was on) I think is working on shaky ground. I think that might be considered scamming and fraud and theft.

There's been a lot of that going on with steam and the greenlight and EA games in the past few years.

I have the feeling S-Purple always wants to get his way and as soon it isn't he will make problems/outright abandon the project. I could imagine that he gave HBomb a "choice": "Either you allow me to keep my artworks for myself and make me your partner with the same rights, or I won't work with you."

I definitely think that legally, that is the only thing that can be done, and even that is very iffy since Patreon isn't a guarantee and the money generated on Patreon are more akin to donations.

Its entirely possible.
The whole 'going to court' business is a double-edge dagger, for both of them. S Purple can easily take whatever he wants from BD and take it to his new project without so much batting an eyelid - what is HBomb going to do against that anyway? Sue him? Same thing can be said for HBomb. Logically, neither of them are interested in spending unnecessary money on an international court case... specially over a porn game (which by itself is already considered 'filthy' and somewhat taboo by some justice systems).

He does seem like that kind of guy from the way the article is writen. I just think HBomb was being a little foolish, and could have found someone better.

I don't foresee either of the games getting finished. These two both wiggle and take money like snakes without even putting effort into trying to find a compromise. I'll stand by as one of the people who saw Breeding Season when it was actually playable to a large degree. And then S-Purple basically retconned the art and fucked the content huge. And now HBomb is basically killing the project instead of have some sort of self-integrity to try and find some what to save what people have actually invested in. One can't make up their mind and literally scammed out money while working on other content and the other gives up because they apparently are so hopeless that they can't find any other artist out there to do what S-Purple did.

That's why I think S-Purple planned this perfectly. He knew what he was doing from day one, either that or he was planning this for months.

Didn't like the game at the start but kept up with it's blog...but yeah, never saw why it was getting soo much money considering all the drama and lack of tangible progress seen in furthering the game.

Kinda makes me wonder if Roundscape is going the same way.

Put yourself in HBombs shoes: He trusted S-Purple for the most part and now he has to face that fact that 50% of the game are simply gone (and one of the biggest selling points THE ARTWORK). I imagine that he has lost much of his motivation to even try and salvage what is left of it. Even if he tried to make it open for the public to use he would have to first strip ALL the content S-Purple has provided out and would only have a code-skeleton that most ppl won't even touch (because they won't have any experience to work with it)
