In retrospect, I asked a rhetorical question.
It's just, there are just some idiosyncrasies about the whole "who does and doesn't deserve forgiveness" that just leave me little squeeze. Like, while I do like idea of mind breaking Ali, the reason why she is getting her punishment has also to do with Kas influence. Before she showed up, the worst she did was sexually abuse her sister and be a subpart/unfit ruler. And I do not want to undermine the former one bit. In real world, what she did would be unexcusable and would lead to her getting jailed.
But this is CoC2. A game where rape is treated like an afterthought. A game where to cure Ryns apparent decades of abuse, all one needs to do is hug her couple of times.
The feelings of detachment I feel for the game making out Alissa as this being beyond redemption is just strange when the recent events are trying to whitewash Kad the Best they can.
The biggest dichotomy I can point to related to Ali is champs conversation with Arona about Ryn. The sweetness of Arona caring about the princess is there. I like it. But at the same time, this is coming from Arona: a pillaging rapist slaver. And, to me, that is worst them whatever Ali did pre-corruption. And I am not even sure how much of blame I can put on Ali when it comes to her reletionship with the demon queen. Since corruption does make you act on your worst impulses.
In the end, I am not really bothered by all this. I am fine with some characters being made irredeemable, since not every NPC is of equal importance. This was just my write up on as to why I personally do not really have much motive to hate Alissa.
