A Tyrant's End (For jasmac)

They had already finished a few minutes before the girls did, and were standing around recovering their breath as Cassandra shakes her head.
"I swear... That woman never looks on the bright side of anything..." Max mutters under his breath before walking over and giving Cassandra a hug from behind, which makes her yelp and elbow him in the ribs.
"Max! Put me down! We're in front of the cadets!" She yells, blushing furiously as some of the cadets laugh.
"So? Why are you always acting like an uppity bitch!?"
"Because that's how we're supposed to act! With some class!"
"Said who!? Look at me!" He says, putting her down, at which she immediately turns and knees him in the nuts, and he groans before falling to his knees. "I don't think I included "kick me in the nuts" in my sentence!" He groans.
She huffs and turns to the cadets. "Quick tip, boys! Fight dirty if you have to!" She huffs.

Sadie quietly applauds Max's fall with a smirk, looking at his crumpled form as she awaits further instruction.

Max suddenly stands back up with a grin on his face. "And this, boys, is why you always wear groin protection when dealing with girls like Cass!" He says, laughing and pulling his pants down to reveal a metal plate covered in a layer of fur.
Cassandra stares at it incredulously. "Shit. I forgot you had that..." She mutters.
"How could you? You tear it off practically every night!" He says, winking and pulling his pants back up, laughing as Cassandra turns beet red and storms off after flipping him the finger.
"Oookay... I think I'm gonna take you guys to your lessons, and then go apologize to my tsundere girlfriend..." He says, chuckling and signalling over his shoulder for them to follow, suddenly being peppered with questions from the male cadets, most of which involve asking him what a tsundere is.

Sadie's grin widens still at the sudden turning of the tables. Thoroughly impressed and amused with the sneaky trick, she laughs along with the rest, before putting her hands behind her back and following along.

Max leads them all to a very large classroom, in which there is a raven morph sitting at a table, dressed in a dark blue, shimmering robe. There is an owl perched on a stand behind him, which hoots as the cadets enter.
The raven looks at them over his spectacles before rising. "Ah. Hello Max. And you must be the new cadets, hmm? Good, good. Always good to have new faces around here." He says, stepping out from behind his table to face them.
"Indeed, Master Tevoran! I'll just be getting out of your feathers now! See ya!" Max says, grinning and bowing as he leaves.

Getting a good look around the classroom, Sadie can see that there are shelves of books lining the walls, and a blackboard behind the raven. Desks are arranged in rows, with a space between each.
"Please. Take your seats." Master Tevoran says, waving to the seats.

Sadie grabs a chair in the middle row, not afraid of sitting next to new faces as she promptly sits down. It's by now that she's dreading the thought of the classroom session, but she doesn't let it show, crossing her legs beneath the table.

[Leggings. Everyone is wearing leather leggings.]

The raven waits till everyone is seated, his eyes roving over them. "Now... From the last row, please tell me your names." He says. The people give their names, and Sadie realises that Amara is sitting next to her, and Reava behind. There's a new guy in front of her and next to her as well, and Sadie soon finds Tevoran's blue eyes resting on her. "And yours, miss?"

"Sadie, sir." She nods, already finding this Tevoran character likable.

 

[Archangel99]

He nods and looks at the boy next to her.
"Matthias, sir." The bat morph says, smiling at him. He nods and moves on till he comes to the lizard morph in front of her. "Arryk, sir." He says, and Tevoran nods.

Eventually, he gets all the names, and nods once more. "Very well... Today's class will be about how to read and create maps. Please pay attention, as this will come in very handy... Oh, and before I forget, My name is Tevoran, and this owl here is Periwinkle." He says, before turning to the board as Periwinkle hoots. He pulls out a stick of chalk and starts to explain the basics of reading a map, the cardinal directions, and the symbols.

Sadie sets her chin in her palm, but still listens raptly. Classroom learning isn't exactly her forte, but she tries to keep up with the skills being taught anyways, finding them useful. It doesn't stop her eyes from wandering around the room though, and she finds herself wondering why they call it a legend instead of a key.

[I've always used the word Key instead of legend. ]

"And with that... I'll wrap up the class. It seems some people in the back are already getting sleepy." Tevoran says, chuckling. "Next class, we'll be doing the history of this land, so brush up a bit, hmm?" He says.

Sadie's already bored with the upcoming history lesson. She looks to the batboy, Matthias, and then Amara to see how they're holding up.

 

[Archangel99]

Batboy seems to be almost sad that the lesson is over, while Amara has already fallen fast asleep, her head on her arms, her black curly hair falling over her face.

Sadie spares Amara from reprove, tapping her on the shoulder to wake her up.

 

[Archangel99]

She jerks awake. "Shit... When-? How long was I out?" She says, horrified.
"Ab-about fif-fifteen minutes..." Reava mutters behind Sadie.

 

[jasmac]

"Didn't miss much." Sadie assures her, before turning her head to hang with batboy. "Hey. Matthias right? You interested in this stuff?"

 

[Archangel99]

"Hm? Oh yes! Very! I like knowledge!" He says, flashing her a fangy grin.

 

[jasmac]

"That's nice. Good to keep the old wits sharp." She taps her head, smiling back. "Bet you're excited for the history lesson tomorrow?"

 

[Archangel99]

"Of course! History is such a fascinating subject! And it's a good example too! By learning history, we do not make the same mistakes our ancestors did!" He says excitedly, before his face falls a bit, ears drooping. "Yet... We still wage wars... So much death and destruction for what...? I think everyone in this world should be given a history lesson." He murmurs.

Sadie's ears twitch, finding herself intrigued with the batboy. She hopes for better results than with Reava as she sets a hand on his shoulder, cocking her head to show fascination. "That's... really wise. You're an interesting guy Matthias. I think this place needs more people who think the way you do."

 

[Archangel99]

He blinks at her. "Well, thanks. I just think more people need to be educated so we make better decisions." He says, nodding to himself as he rises from his seat.
"Oh. Class is over? I'm outta here." Amara says, hopping off her seat and streaking out of the classroom.
"It was... Okay." Reava murmurs.

Sadie is quick to follow, looking quickly back at Matthias before walking off.

He follows behind her, looking around the room, probably wishing he could take a few books with him.
Outside, there's nobody waiting. Just then, the large gong sounds. It was time for lunch!
The cadets chatter as they start making their way to large mess hall, filing in and taking their seats once they get there.

[Aaaaand I'm out. School in four hours. ]

Sadie scours the crowd for a familiar face, slipping through in search of a good seat.

She sees Jack and Korel sitting next to each other, with Amara sitting next to Jack. There's space between Korel and Reava where she could sit if she wanted too.
There was also some space next to the batboy Matthias, who was sitting next to Poggle.

 

[jasmac]

Sadie decides to clique with the more familiar crowd, stealing the seat between Korel and Reava as she announces her showing up. "This seat taken?" She inquires.

 

[Archangel99]

"It is now." Korel says, chuckling as he squeezes himself in a little more to give her some space.

 

[jasmac]

"Thank you, thank you." She says quickly and sweetly. "So tell me about it all. How was everyone's training?"

 

[Archangel99]

"It was interesting." Korel says, glancing at Amara, who nods.
"Fucking exhausting as fuck." Jack mutters, stretching his arms. "My arms are so fucking sore, I can barely feel them there!" He groans.

 

[jasmac]

"I'm with Jack on this one. Even my ears are sore with everything they're making us do today. Hate to be complaining, but where's this lunch that we were promised?"
