Smiling, Orval moved his hand to squeeze her tail-wrap gently, looking back with a smile.

"Everyone clean and ready to be good girls? We have work to do, and a lot of riding too."

Erica rides up next to them first. "Yes master! We are clean, the tent is clean, the supplies are packed up and we are all ready to go"

Byra slides up to the other side "Everything is in order master, rest assured we will be on our best behavior."

Zephyr pulls up into the front in full gear "The roads should be clear master, we are in range of the patrols for Haven Grove."

"Good. Then let's get moving."

Patting Selena's tail, his hands moved to fully grasp the reigns. His things were no doubt among the supplies, meaning he could dress fully as they moved. Urging the lizard forward, he had to hope Zephyr was right.

the lizards took off down the road, making excellent pace due to their upbringing and training. In a blur the land scape passes by and the hours move past them before Zephyr calls out from ahead. "Father! I can see Haven Grove in the distance! Shall we make a stop there or push past toward our destination?"

"Well, we've made good time so far. Let's stop over! We can see if they have any criminals or slaves they'd like to get rid of. Once we near the city limits, Byra and Erica will take the lizards to visit their home ranch. You both are to get us some gold and secure smaller wagons to not hinder our lizards. We left and likely will reach our destination with a light load, but we need to come back with something grand and complete the task we were given. I'm sure you can use the males to offer studs. It likely won't be much, but it should cover some purchase since they don't mate so easily. The boys just need the smallest bit of encouragement... got it?"

"Yes father! Came Zephyrs voice as they rapidly approached the city. It only took them around 2 minutes before they were at the gates and quickly took a sharp right, heading around the outer wall and coming to a stop by the ranch they bough the lizards from a year ago.

"Master, Erica and I will manage the lizards and try to get a good price from the farm head here. This will likely take a while... so please try to have some fun while we manage this bit. We will then look for small weapons to bolster our chances of any combat."

"Yes master! Leave this all to us! You go find some people to join our growing harem... or whatever else you want people for!" Erica says happily.

As he dismounted, one hand holding his snake-lover to keep her along for the ride, he'd turn and face Erica and Byra.

"Alright," he said while releasing Selena and hoping Zephyr would dismount as well, "But don't buy anything too big or fancy. Erica, I guess, can get whatever she wants... but Byra, you're no soldier. Don't try to get something that looks difficult to use. A knife would be more than enough, since you could hide it in your maid uniform easily enough."

Looking to his daughter, he'd wait just long enough for Selena to hopefully slither off him while smiling.

"Lead the way... it's time for your father to teach you the right you were born to."

Zephyr hops off of her mount and nods her head "Yes father, our best bet would be the market square I think." she says while walking in that direction.

Selena slither along at Orval's side "That is correct! Open auctions occur in the marke square. Weather or not a slave merchant will be there is yet to be seen."

Reaching the market place is an easy enough affair and as luck would have it... a slaver is here! he has a tent set up to keep the slaves in while he sits outside of her. The slaver himself is a dapperly dressed cat man with a suit and a walking cane. All around him are armed and armored guards who radiate an aura of no nonsense tolerated here.

"Come one! Come all! Down to Lucky Roo's slave emporium! Men, women, herms... I have all genders, all body builds and all of them are trained with basic house care!"

If it weren't for the guards, Orval could bet he could make Eleanor an ally with slave contacts. Instead, the one who called himself Roo was indeed lucky. Wrapping an arm around his snake-kin lover, he approached with Zephyr no doubt in close tow.

"Any gender and build? I don't guess they're cheap, are they? I might just go to the town guard for a criminal. A ring can keep them in line, after all."

"Ah sir, I see you are in the slave business yourself, so surely you can know that breaking someone in can be a real trial. All of my slaves are broken and ready for service. Sure a ring or a collar keeps them in check, but they can still be rebellious. Besides, price varies depending on what you want."

"Well... I don't have much to spend. Show me your cheapest slaves."

Releasing Selena, he leaned in to kiss her neck with a whisper.

"I think we should let Zephyr pick... or maybe getting a prisoner from the town guard would be better. She's strong... but surprising her with a slave might be the way to bring her into the real world... even if I decide to keep the slave. Your thoughts?"

While inviting Zephyr to the harem in a sexual manner was up to Selena to guide and explore, maybe he could get a cheap slave or a free prisoner to test how his daughter would treat the slaves. Unlike Orval, who cared for them on the vast majority before enslaving, she hadn't exactly been brought up with seeing to those serving her. She was on the road far too much, in comparison to even Willow, to likely have the experience...

"Hmm, that might be a bit of a shock. She will likely be strict, make blunders and possibly fail to make a personal connection to them... so if you don't mind swooping in to make repairs on the slave... sure it could work out."

Lucky Roo frowned at that. "Hang on there chum, if you are on a budget, I would like to know what your price range is... because I only go so cheap."

"Since I'm here on personal business, I can't use my funds given to me by Eleanor. So..."

Reaching to a small pouch, ultimately knowing his silence was an answer for Selena, he extended his much smaller coin bag for Roo to see.

"Three hundred. I can take a prisoner for little more than that. I'm giving you a chance to do business with one of the rising estates in the region... a good ally with breed-happy kobold daughters to make a slave army if I wanted."

Roo grimaced at the small bag in front of him "Yeesh, you are really trying to ring me dry aren't you? I got three slaves I can part with for three hundred and they are the bottom of the barrel."

Selena giggles, knowing what Orval is up to. It doesn't matter what the slave looks like... they are all wet clay in his hands.

"Then show us. Or, maybe, I should buy an hour with your ass. We're busy after all... but you seem content with wasting it and ensuring there is no business today."

Roo drops all forms of his pleasant merchant face and promptly smacks the coin purse from orvals hand with his cane, leaving a stinging red mark on his knuckle. "Alright fuck head, you can sod right off. I ain't gonna sit here and let you spit your words at me, now beat it before I have my boys toss you off."

A smirk came to his face, knowing full well that a fight here would be bad to Orval. But an outburst like this was reputation damaging, even to a slaver. Gently shaking his hand, Orval cursed and spoke nice and loud.

"Striking me for wanting to do business? I guess Lucky Roo is lucky because he hasn't lost his clients! Haven Grove would be better off working with Eleanor at her estate! At least we don't strike customers!"

Turning to recover the small coin bag, he even threw it down again but at the man's feet.

"Take the money, thief. I hope others don't see through your shitty veil."

Sabotage set in place for the trivial amount, he started off with a grip to Selena's hip and a nod to Zephyr. If the man followed or challenged him more openly, it could play even greater with his knight protecting her father. If he stayed, he'd be in a bad atmosphere set in motion by Orval. Even if they trusted Roo, doubtful as it seemed, it'd be a nice 'fuck you' to the opposing slaver. It was time to find Zephyr the hardest kind of slave beyond someone like her uncle. To find someone like Erica had been, more than likely.

People started to talk and whisper at Orval's words while casting disapproving glances at Lucky Roo. The man scowls at Orval and advances toward him, cane raised to strike him. "you miserable little cur!" he screams and people gasp at his advanced.

In a flash, Zephyr is between the two of them, her hand closed around the cane and an annoyed look on her face "Keep your pathetic hands off of my father." With a jerk she takes the cane from him, flips it around and bonks him on the head, making him stagger backwards. She then throws it into his lap and folds her arms over her chest. "you are not even worthy of his gaze any more."

Not looking back, Orval smiled in a bit of revenge and pride. Zephyr had been trained well, but she had offered him an angle. Turning, he looked down at the man with a sigh.

"Trying to hit me a second time? That might as well be assault. Have your guards stay. I'm a man willing to work things out, Roo. We can speak in a nearby alley, if you want to work things out. If not... then pray your men can defend you and your stock if the town guard comes after I push charges. I don't turn my back so lightly a second time."

Roo starts to sweat as he stands up and pulls at his collar "H-hey now... no need to invovle the guards. Let's just talk this out yea?" He says, gesturing to the side

Turning to lead the way, Orval would stop only when he was in the alley and properly away from the market. Collaring this trader would be huge, but he had different plans for once. Turning to face him, he released Selena and moved his hand rest against his hip while the other grabbed his belt.

"My daughter is with me today, so I'll spare fucking obedience into your throat. I'm trying to teach her how to handle fuckers like you... unless you're willing to get on your knees and play the part of a bitch. I offered you three hundred... so we have a deal. Zephyr picks one she likes, regardless of your prices. On top of that, Lucky Roo is now a sponsor to me, Orval. Selena will give you information, but I expect either half of your profits a month or your current best slave in status in exchange. If you grow your enterprise, it will be through visiting and asking me nicely. All because I'm sparing you the collar. I'll mend my claims... but I own you now."

Roo lets out a sad little noise, something like a mewl a kitten would make when it can't find it's mother. "Ok ok... she can pick out any slave she wants. Consider my crew under your employ. Just don't tell the guards man... some of these slaves have... not been acquired in the most graceful ways." He wrings his wrists "See... I came from the next kingdom over, Ula'doon. They are really lax on slavery there... so we swing through there and just grab people up." He chuckles nervously "Ok... yea. Half the profits or the highest price slave... you got it boss"

Selena laughed openly and pats Orval's shoulder "you are getting a tad too good at this baiting tactic Orval. Now then... Roo, you and I need to chat." She says, moving over to fill him in.

Zephyr follows along with Orval, clearly a little confused. "Father... why would you let me pick out a slave? Surely you would have a better eye for detail than I would. I am just a knight... finer details are not my specialty." Which Orval knew was a lie as Zephyr can tell if someone is lieing just by staring at them.

Moving toward the guards, leaving the alley behind, his gaze turned to Zephyr.

"Because I appreciate your opinion. And maybe I want to get you a gift. Someone to get to know that isn't on their back getting fucked daily. If it helps you figure out what makes a good slave, so you can do things on your own, then maybe you can bring new ones to myself and Eleanor."

She cocks her head to the side, her face screwed in thought. "Umm, gathering slaves doesn't sound very knightly father. It ounds like something Mr. Roo here would do." She says, twiddling her thumbs as they move over to the slave tent.

"I don't... I don't mean that you'd gather them like he does. Sometimes, the knightly thing is to spare a life or to save someone. If you can do that, then enslaving them can be an option, to let them work off their sins. And, of course, let them work with you to pay you back for saving them. Making you drag innocent people into slavery would make you like him... but slavery is a part of this world. And if you want to truly be useful to me beyond just some sword... then as my daughter, I need you to be able to understand when someone needs a collar around their neck to improve their life."

It was hard to explain it, knowing full well that his daughter was a bit more than naive thanks to her knightly training. The fact of the matter was that slavery in the other nation was acceptable, but here it was something silently lived by. The world ran on slavery as much as it did free labor. Before he'd had any slaves or the chances that came with them, Orval had lived a hard life. And it would be beneath him, even if it meant making his daughter strip some liberties of people, to allow her to live in the sort of lifestyle he had should she lose the funding or they were forced out of the estate without proper time to prepare.
