Strange, I remember it functioning as one when the game was still on flash but I could be misremembering since it has been years.
(Edit: The description on the item is a bit misleading then since it's bolded that it works in space and then says it protects you in the void.)

the tooltip for the spacewalk does state that it requires magnetic boots, which the jumper spacesuit definitely does not have as it's a skintight latex sort of config.
the pirate spacesuit also does not explicitly state that it has magnetic boots in its description but it is described to be of an older style. it's also possibly mentioned when you first acquired the suit/its parts
