Well it would still be nice to have them as a variant option. Vine tentacles are at least as different from parasite tentacles as bird wings are from demon wings. Mechanically they may do the same thing but they are thematically distinct enough to warrant being a separate TF.

They aren't infertile they just need to be properly inseminated. Nyrea cum isn't male cum so the Eggs need to be provided with some male cum. The sterilty status you get from the TF is just a mechanical shorthand for that effect. 

Scene changes are up to individual authors. If they aren't into oviposition they wont write scen variants but that doesn't make the eggs or ovipositor any more fake than a for example a tauric body that there is little support for. Just cause there aren't many scenes that account for taurs...
