Your favorite Class

Whats your favorite class and why? I tend to go mercenary most of the time because I just prefer a straight foreword combat class. Plus I find most of its abilities useful for a mixed ranged/melee type combo. I also like it thematically since I like RPing as soldiers of fortune in PnP games.,

tech specialist because it seems to be the only one that can actually do cool things (like fix the doggy and disarm the turrets)

least favorite would be mercenary, opposite of why tech specialist is my favorite.

Tech Specalist/Smugglar but Tech if i have to choose only one ( :'( )

Smuggler is a bit of a one trick pony, but aimed shot can faceroll everything.  Amara included.

Tech is a class i really want to love.  And, a certain bosses aside, there is no reason why i shouldn't

Pure damage wise? Mercenary.

Story wise? Smuggler.

I wish the Smuggler was more viable, it's got some cool ideas but either it needs some accessories to compliment the play style or it needs to get buffed.

I follow the ways of the brute force. :p

Many tried to pull that card against me, just to be teased to submission not even scratching my fortress-tier shield :smugdog:

I like the concept of the Tech the most, and if it was a good class I'd be playing it near-exclusively.  The problem is it sucks, so I play Mercenaries instead.  It desperately needs a total overhaul of its design.

It's a tendency - magic sucks in CoC, tech sucks in TiTS...

You always can fight smarter, not harder.

Violence is a tool with many methods of application. It could be used as a hammer, but can be used as a scalpel, as well. Brute force is certainly reliable in some ways, but precision is more efficient. Proper application of force and violence is its own science.

And avoiding violence is an art! Well, sometimes violence is also last resort... Or actually the best tool, that happens too.

It's been too long since I've sat down to watch Starship Troopers again. I should add that to my list of things to do.

To be sure, technology is a very powerful advantage to exploit. I can't say it doesn't make sense, choosing a master of tech in a high-tech future.

I actually waiting for psionics to come. Got a bit of kitsune obsession from CoC... I think, kitsune TF for TiTS was one of reasons for LD mod :)

Ahhh, now you're speaking my language. I've always loved psionics, and I've been looking forward to them ever since it was first mentioned they would be in TiTS. I can't say I've ever cared for magic, though. Perhaps psionics being more focused and specialized draws me to it. I also like the way it slots into modern and futuristic settings.

don't tempt me.  I've already accepted the Gryvain as my new favorite race of all time.  But you can't turn your back on sexy foxes with mind powers that easily.   I hope we can keep any powers modding away from the race, a la myr red venom.

Well, mind control aspect is actually I'm not into. Sort of whing which is not... Honest. Being able to burn your foe to dust using power of your mind, from the other side...

Never was into scalies (even if Arian is one of my favs, it's from personality). But my foxes always had few dragon traits... You can't just say "no" to wings and dragonfire.

I've never been that into mind control myself, either. I've always preferred telekinesis, remote viewing, ESP, telepathy... those sorts of things. I think I tend to shun mind control and mind reading because I like limitations on powers and abilities. Makes things more interesting.

Well, those are fine by me too. Though aren't telepathy and mind reading same thing?

They share similarities, but I think telepathy can be limited to just sending and receiving specific mental messages.

So less like reading and more like communicating?

Well, I prefer the Tech Class, but I had to pick Mercenary, due the sheer amount of brute force and the abysmal difference on HP that it grants. Dealing with enemies witouth excesive violence is nice and all, but as someone said  "there's two ways to deal with people: the way of the man, or the way of the beasts. The first one is the ideal, but for those stupid enough to not understand words, is the second."

Anyways, with Anno being a tech, and no future crew members being on mercenary catergory, as far as I know, my character has to fit that role, to keep a balanced crew: merc, cook, tech specialst, and, a....free milk source?

True problem of tech is not even lack of force, but lack of energy. Techs have some decent combos, but lacks energy to use them consistently.

Agreed, especially since they don't have a quick energy regen ability like the other classes. I do like the shield strength of a tech though. With shield tweaks, a drone and a Reaper shield, plus the passive perk that gives them reduced vulnerability, they can really soak up a lot of punishment. Even better if you're topping them up with a vamp blade.

But for me it's gotta be smuggler. It's not exactly rocket science but I love combo-ing off Flashbang or Low Blow with Aimed Shot or Sneak Attack.

I'd be interested to know if many people play range/melee mixes, it always seems to me like you're better off going fully one or the other, especially if you don't feel like bothering to use slow stat gains to have both your aim and physique high.

I pick mercenary because combat mechanics are the thing I care least about in this game, and I figure they're probably the best at hitting things with hammers.
