Indeed, but what class do you use for a spellswordSpellsword.
Bonking enemies? Good
Setting enemies on fire? Gooder
Bonking fuckers with a burning blade? Goodest
Actual class: White MageIndeed, but what class do you use for a spellsword
No soulbind (oath) = no paladin, ergo; spellblade.I'd say that's a paladin rather than a spellsword. Admittedly the difference in game is minimal, but the flavouring is very different imo
My main build is also a paladin, dual wielding dawnsword and sanctified gladius. Very fun and very strongNo soulbind (oath) = no paladin, ergo; spellblade.
But yeah, my character reads and acts like a Paladin in all but name, I admit.
Running a white lightsaber and a gladius is peak.My main build is also a paladin, dual wielding dawnsword and sanctified gladius. Very fun and very strong
Your Charmsword description inspired me so I'll try out a somewhat unconventional build with the pyromancer set. Sorran Chant to balance out the self-damage from Flames Within, Dawnsword to take care of most attacks with Deflection. Combine that with Sancified Gladius and everything that tries to touch me should get turned to paste. I still have one other cooldown skill I can choose and I'm dithering whether to take Reaping Blade (does great damage and healing because the pyromancer set ups the spellpower), Cold Snap/Keldoran's Song for synergy with Frost Cait or another buff. With the pyromancer set it's even trivial to switch over to a normal blaster caster if there is an encounter where physical hits and tease does nothing, so I have all bases covered I think. Unbreakable will be a good panic button.I personally like Warrior, but it really depends on what you want out of a "spellsword" build.
If you want to be a heavily armored tank that's still deadly with magic, you go Warrior. If you want to be squishy but absolutely explode things with burst damage, you go Thief. If you just want to be a regular mage that happens to wield a sword on the side, you go Black Mage.
Charmsword is a lot more straightforward than it sounds: Strength, Toughness, Presence. Take skills that scale off charm but still benefit a melee combatant like Scaldic Cadence and Song of Storms. Expert Inspiration also makes you a really good tank that dispenses long-lasting party buffs. Shielding Smite and Blessing last for 2 turns instead of 1, for example. Unbreakable lasts for a whopping 6 turns. It's great.
