Now, as a person who loves technology, I have not been up to date with the gaming community, as I have other things that need my attention (like baking cookies and selling them, and working on making my own omurice dish, and learning how to make a local favorite chilli sauce...oh and homework).

Anyway, just wanted to know whats this big push on the Scorpio that been going in and out, all I can understand that it is supposed to be the new generation of graphics engine.

Do you guys have a better understanding of this marketing push? Would like to know whats the hullabaloo iver it.

Thanks! *peace*

The Scorpio (which is an upgraded version of the Xbox One) is roughly as powerful as a GTX 1070, when you take into account how well optimized consoles are as well.

That means it can theoretically push 4K at 60fps on what we could consider "Medium" settings.

Also 10 bit, HDR, 4K Blu Rays, VR, VRR, etc. All on HDMI 2.1 as well. Personally I'm mainly a PC gamer, but I'll probably get it for home theater entertainment purposes.

So it's basically the next generations version of the PS3? I wonder if anyone will be making a supercomputer out of it.

Like the US Army did when the ps3 came out?

I don't remember hearing about the Army doing it, but there was a story about a hospital doing it that I remember. Either way, that is the gist of what I was referencing.

It was the Air Force, but they weren't the first. Lots of people did it before and after them. College students, hospitals, etc. Some only used the microprocessor chips inside the PS3, others whole PS3s. And it wasn't a supercomputer so much as a Linux cluster, small difference.

It was somewhat efficient in terms of power/energy/price, but a lot of people just did it for the cool/lol factor.

Anyway Scorpio makes the PS3 look like a toaster, or more specifically it's like comparing a 1070 to a 570.
