Why does Raphael hate Kitsunes so much?

I played the mission where you play as Kinu. I've never understand why Raphael hate the Kitsunes, is there a reason why?

As far as I can tell?

As a means to elevate himself, give others a target to direct them at as he takes control, so he can be the hero who led them to defeat a mighty foe.

Also, racism.

If I recall correctly his people were kicked off their land by the kitsune colonists when they moved in. So to say they're invasive is fairly accurate.

Raphael takes it too far because he's a sadist with too much ego, but hating kitsune is something I can completely understand, considering they get up to quite a bit of sadism and conceit-spewing themselves.

Really kitsune just seem to bring the sadist out of everyone around them, considering the quest line Raphael appears in has our character promising to torture someone to death on two separate occasions once the flashbacks are over.

No, that's just the dad-genes getting the proverbial shotgun from the cabinet because someone harmed our precious little daughter.

More annoying are the fox encounters where they ask for some essence, and if you say no they don't take that and try to force you and then you have to dagger them to make them understand that no means no and not "yes but first I want to fight"

iirc, and this is spoilers from a design document I believe, but

The trickery god from Mareth, who is the patron of vulpines?, came over, and is now locked in a power struggle with Keros. So that's a huge aspect of what's going on with Raphael's story bits I believe.

Kitsune also makes for an easy scapegoat for people not knowing their ways. Also, their penchant for causing mischief/attacking people for energy is also a problem I don't know if this was a onetime thing but you see one arrested in the Winter city for stealing and attacking a merchant and Ryn has to decide his fate which ironically enough is more merciful to what Nakano would do to him if he were handed over to the provost.

I get it's supposed to be a super dad rage moment, but there's a fine line between shooting someone dead, and wanting to find the most painful way to disembowel somoeone(which is already an absolutely fucking horrendous way to die, mind you. There was a reason Samurai preforming seppuku traditionally had a second to put them out of their misery after the initial self stabbing, it's an excruciating and often drawn out process way to go).

Even if you're positively furious that someone threated a loved one, jumping to that as your first thought on how to proceed points to the individual being, well, perhaps a wee bit mentally unwell. A healthy person doesn't consciously answer sadism with more sadism, even when the adrenaline is pumping.

I like when there's an option to slay particularly abhorrent and vile characters, sure, but this was just kind of disgusting.

The signature was poking fun at authors who think killing off antagonists is the be all end all of unforgivable deeds, often calling people who express a desire for such as being a 'murderhobo' (there are some genuine aspiring murderhobos on here at times though, but the term has gotten misused enough to nettle me) and then write bad ends that are morally speaking several more levels of fucked then just bonking someone once and at least not prolonging any anguish after that, physical or mental.

Like I said in the post, I prefer to kill off unforgivable baddies, but I'm also not into drawing out anyone's suffering for shits and giggles.

Speaking of the signature, if I had known someone was finally going to comment on it I would of kept it smh. Oh well.

No, that's just the dad-genes getting the proverbial shotgun from the cabinet because someone harmed our precious little daughter.

That's...a bit of an understatement. Raphael's debut was him organizing and leading a lynch-mob to set fire to Kiyoko's home for the sake of murdering all of her/the Champ's kits - by burning them alive - as the opening salvo of what they evidently viewed as an extermination campaign. Generously, this is less that he "harmed our precious little daughter", and more that he was trying to do the Champ's family what Macbeth did to Macduff's in Act IV, Scene II. And that's still lowballing it, considering how after seeing Kinu, Raph alternated between wanting to mutilate her and keep her eyes as trophies and wanting to abuse her into a broken sex-slave.

That's a far cry more severe than implied by "someone harmed our precious little daughter". That's "this guy just tried to murder our children, and only failed to do so through a combination of underestimating them enough for the cavalry to arrive and force them to retreat. ...Moreover, it's only a matter of time until he tries again".

That's...a bit of an understatement.

Oh pish posh, eyeball collecting is just a wholesome pass time all the kids are partaking in these days. Really you should feel more wounded if someone isn't trying to take yours, there's no greater insult.

But yeah, I don't think anyone is thinking that Raphael isn't one fucked up customer asking for a warhammer to the skull in perhaps the most direct way possible.

Frighteningly enough, his underlings imply this is not even the first time they set fire to fox dens with people still inside.

If someone went to your house, and killed your family, just for the heck is it, you wouldn't try your best to make that monster suffer for as long as you are grieving? Ok buddy

... You know, you're right. Clearly if someone wrongs you enough, it doesn't make you a mentally sick sack of shit to torture someone to death. Your blunt little comment has touched the heart of someone who has had to study mental health for their godawful profession for several years, all that time in ethics and psyche courses learning how people do naturally act in these sorts of situations just thrown right out the window because of your clever use of the word 'buddy'.

Who knew, after all this time, my eyes would finally be opened by some random fool who could not even quote or use a proper response to my own post, so I just had to happen upon this at random.

I am humbled by your wisdom, GSone. Thank you, thank you so dearly for not even taking the time out of your day to press ENTER so I could read your response clearly at a glance.

Your lesson in morality about why I should torture someone to death in any fucking situation that isn't leaning so hard on a teleological ethical scenario that it breaks the goddamn planet in half will be carried with me until my final breaths, I promise you.

if you're so fancy about psychology then surely you're also aware that people say things they don't mean when they are thinking about a problem and talking about it on a random porn game forum as opposed to acting on it in real life???

No problem, buddy, glad I could help you
Looks like I ended up helping you as well. A proper message response, with proper enough spacing to not make me think I'm having a stroke whilst reading it.

It's like watching your child grow up right before your very eyes. Next thing I know you'll get into using actual end punctuation, and I will be beside myself.
