Where'd you guys get your usernames from?

I'm curious as to the origins of people's usernames. I'll go first. I didn't want to use the regular handle I use around(because, y'know.), so I picked the first thing that came to my mind which happened to be big joe.

Alypia was the name of a princess of the fifth-century Roman Empire. We unfortunately don't know much about her other than who her parents were and who she married, but I like the way her name looks.

Emerald's my internet alias, has been for years, I respond to it more than my real name on the internet due to that (That and I don't want anyone knowing my irl name obviously). Simple as that.

Paradox 01 is an old callsign of mine from a deployment.

I only had one other Medic working for me and since we were attached to an Infantry Company, the CO said I had to come up with callsigns for each of us. Later that day my buddy and I were walking to the chowhall, we passed some of our guys and one said, "Doc. Doc." in greeting. I replied, "Hey, we're a pair o' docs!"

I became Paradox 1 and my other Medic became Paradox 2.

To be fair, thats a thread that's been dead for 4 years, don't think you would have found it.

Anyway, my username. Its just who I am.

(Though truthfully, it was part of a longer name I used years ago, just cut it down for convenience)

I wanted to put "wanderer" but probably some user would already be using it, so Wandara came to mind. (and that a quick search on google shows several images of a boot, so here we have a printer and a boot :))

I chose this nickname because a beer brand in my country uses it to attract some prestige. But this beer is simply the worst, my friends and I call it the kaiser's piss I find it very funny (the title name is cool tho).

"TheShepard" because I'm a Mass Effect fan, "256" because on the first website I signed up on (DeviantArt), "TheShepard" was already taken so I decided to add a numerical postfix, and chose 256 specifically because it's an oblique reference to my birthday (it's 08/08, which is two eights, and 2^8 = 256); it also doubles as a tech joke since that's the number of different values that a single byte (8 bits) can have.

Mine is a bit of a play on words. The second-half of it comes from the Myth Adventures series by Robert Asprin. In the books, the inhabitants of the dimension of Perv are called 'Pervects'. They get very annoyed if they're referred to as 'Perverts'.
Loved those books.

Winter is my favorite season. Granted I'm the bible belt and it's hot as hell year round sometimes. So my winter is the fall for anyone far north enough from the equator. I just like how ryder sounds and thought WinterRyder sounded cool. But noooooooo. The first site I ever used it on needed numbers in the name. So in my infinite wisdom and creativity, I changed the E to 3. Revolutionary, am I right?

I use names from video games I've played and books I've played. Though I'm really bad at remembering where I've gotten them from. The origin of my most used names (Ireyon, Curae, Culpa and Mithos) completely escapes me. I only remember that the latter two are from a game (or maybe two different ones, no idea).

mine is the name of an ancient mesopotamian monster I Heard in an anime. I don't have a particular reason for choosing it, I have a bunch of different usernames for different sites and I don't really remember them all.

A nutria is essentially a giant, semi-aquatic, rat. They're an invasive species that is currently destroying the USA's wetlands, which are some of the most ecologically diverse areas in the world.

I chose the adjective, "luminous", to convey a somewhat holy/morally-righteous feeling, which is intended to contrast with, well, the giant rat thing.

I don't remember exactly why I chose this username, but I tend to use on multiple sites whenever I am involved in anything that I consider seedier than my usual haunts. This website, being pornographic, fits the bill.

Savin is the name of a brand of printers :)
Huh. Did not see that coming, ngl. Kinda glad your office didn't purchase Lexmark or Brother printers now.

So, I am an aviation nerd, and I really liked the idea of the anti-radiation missile, designed to hunt down radar. The first truly effective ARM was the AGM-45 Shrike. "shrike@WhateverMyFirstISPwasBackInThe.90s" was taken, so I just pluralized it.
