That's the thing about writing characters well in a game with a morality/personality system. Being a dick's no fun, whereas being Mr. Nice Guy gives you nice, warm and fluffy feels inside.

Aswell as warm, fluffy insides to feel.

My main Character is more of a cold blooded, hardass, tech scientist and a bit anti-social isn't  afraid to go out of the prowl to find a one night stand or a (more preferred) fuck buddy. He's one of those guys where getting in his circle is like crossing the galaxy on a hover bike and would resort to violence to solve certain situations because despite the fact that he knows they can be handled other ways, putting a round from a hand held railgun in someone's head is way quicker, though he doesn't mind getting a good lay, especially with an extreme libido.

Combat is more of a "eliminate with extreme prejudice, in a timely manor" or " Finish this as fast as possible, no matter the cost"

Im fine with my character being a dick, im a dick in real life, i feel like i subconsciously modeled him after me

I typically go mischievous with a sociopathic treatment of npcs, what can they give me? how are they useful? is it a liability to let them live?

when I play the nice guy I feel like a naive optimist, mind you I hate characters like Naruto and Luffy but love characters like Gendo Ikari and Light Yagami.

See <- Profile Picture for "good guy" inspiration.

Personal Ship? Ground exploration of planets? A large multiethnic space station? Last name begins with S? Plenty of aliens to bang? Checkmate times five.

I can't help myself but make Steele into Shep.

My paragon choice weren't for the "good" reasons, I saved the Rachni because if their indebted to us (Humanity) then we can use them against the council and I only saved the council because I felt it would help humanity in the long run otherwise they cloud die for all I care...

My main problem with in- game morality systems is that they treat "evil" like being an assholes where I like to play manipulative bastards and because it can't account for my motivations I ended up mostly good which seems counter intuitive to me, I suppose this is why I prefer to not have a morality systems in games and would rather a reputation system at the most.

Mischievous.

It's the perfect Goldilocks porridge of alignment.

*finds three bowls of porridge, labelled, from left to right, Kind, Mischievous and Hard*

*tastes Kind* "Blech. This porridge tastes of rainbows and diabeetus."

*tastes Hard* "Not bad porridge. If you like making your porridge out of human faeces and broken glass."

*tastes Mischievous* "Hmmm, not b- wait a sec... this isn't porridge at all, it's sawdust mixed with water! CURSE YOU, THERMIIIIIC!"

I know that the majority of people here RPing their Steele as nice people may look unconvincing, but it's partially on the dev team. They write characters you don't want to be dick towards, sex or no sex.

Plus there's no guro so being an evil bastard isn't too fun.

I can vouche for this, even if she constantly pesters me to be in mah bed.... i cant be mean to Celise...

Cleise: "can i sleep with you?"

Lara Steele: "eh, yeah get in here..." -.-

Celise: "wanna sleep inside of me?"

Lara: "ummm..." o_O "sure..." *advances*

Celise: "no wait! You gotta be naked... plus i wanna milk you!"

Lara: T.T.... "I just wanna slee- eh fine!"

Mischievous.

It's the perfect Goldilocks porridge of alignment.

Also have to agree with Jim T. Mischievous is perfect, not too good and not too evil. Maybe thats just cause thats how i act IRL. Chaotic Neutral is always a fun alignment, do what makes you happy,  even if it makes others scratch they're head and wonder why you filled a bowl with sawdust and water and called it porridge.

Mischievous leaning kind is my default for Asteria Steele.  She avoids being a jerk, but greatly enjoys opportunities to tease people both in the joking sense and the sexual sense.  Obviously, this is more or less my own attitude minus the sex part.

Asteria prefers tease combat when available but shuns other lust-based methods of combat, feeling they take all the fun out of it.  When seduction isn't an option, the next best thing is to grab her sword and get carving.  Jedi Steele best Steele.

Well it mostly depends on the character I envision :D

My Tech specialists are mostly mischievous (and selfish/scheming) and often interested getting in the pants of interesting opponents.

My smugglers are nearly always hard (mostly because i had muuuch fun with a DS smuggler in SWTOR ^^)

My mercs are evenly between those two, i somehow can't bring myself to pick "nice".

I'm not out there to bring world-peace, I want my inheritence and fun!

I usually do a hardass character who'll kick your ass if you get in their way and is okay with selling Zil for money they always aggro you when you just want to go on the other side of the map but won't kill anything and will always do right by NPCs (or ignore them entirely). Can't be a dick to NPCs. They are too cute.

Combat-wise, I usually do a techie with an athlete's body. Because combat-drones. Love those lil'fuckers.

My Steele plays as a kind guy who will help people even in the most ridiculous of situations: like saving ladies from deadly space pirates, multiple times.... for no reason other than because I can (Hilariously most of those situations occur cause of Savin and his Space Pirate Fetish). Philosophically I'd say I lean heavily into Ethical Hedonism, but that's not to say my Cap'n ain't interested in his dad's Company! Oh no, my Steele's ultimate plan is to make Steel Tech even greater than it already is, and with it achieve immortality thanks to being so wealthy; then become a galactic philanthropist that pulls the strings of the UGC in the directions he wants for the greater good and for himself too. But in the meantime just help those he can for now.

Edit: Oh right, and as a techie cause laser pew-pews.

For my male, I usually go with a Half-Leithan Merc, who is nice, has tons of money, and can shoot your head off from 900 meters away.

but then he loses all his money by giving it to the nice people and researchers. Gotta have that orange pill xD

even though he's "Kind" He still beats up the Nyrean queen. can't have her taking over the Myrs.

I don't see why not, they certainly can't be any worse than the myr.  They neither deploy chemical weapons against enemy forces nor use addictive narcotic agents to enslave anyone they have intercourse with.  The nyrea are arguably the least bad of the three by a hefty margin, even if I'd much rather have sex with a gold myr.

It's quite unfair, IMO, to compare practices that came up during a World War to those of a tribal society. Which, btw, is quite fond of subjugation through good old violence.

I can't see the Nyrea talking about a peace treaty unless they come out with everything.

at least the Myrs are.... trying...

:/  not into most of the gold myr. Liliana is cool.

Everyone's fond of subjugation through violence.  That's not a war crime.  The golds are pretty much the best species on Myrellion in every regard save their cavalier attitude regarding chemical warfare, while the reds essentially are walking chemical weapons thanks to their venom, the main reason I consider them the worst.  The nyrea have bizarre physiology, and might admittedly just not use chemical weapons because they don't have the technology base for it, but they still have no history of it whereas the myr do.  It's also possible to get into a position of strong influence with the nyrea, while at present Steele only has the attention of one gold queen and can't visit the red leadership at all.

.... And that Gold Queen wants to nuke the Reds

That's arguably more justified than the actual time nuclear weapons were used against a foreign power, though they clearly don't know what they're doing because at that range it would kill both races.

Though there's some wonky shit going on in general with the scale of the war.  If I gather the situation correctly, the golds are down to a single city and the "red city" we visit is one that used to belong to the golds.  Thus we have never seen what the red myr are like in their home territory.

Still, I don't really object to the nuke thing as much as some might because of the impracticality of it.  I mind the chemical warfare more, and in that regard I hold both sides in contempt.

Of course, from what I hear the war was originally much more cut and dried with the reds as the obvious aggressors and the golds as the victims, thus why the reds come with brainwashing drugs built-in.  Savin's efforts have been to make it more three-dimensional, but in my opinion they haven't been all that successful.  The golds do look worse than they first appear once you get past the surface, but the reds don't look particularly better when you start digging than they do at the start.

There are a lot of things regarding that conflict that seemingly make no sense. Myrs lacking mechanized units;an overwhelming victory of the Reds despite them having massively strained supply lines and less of almost every relevant resource. Most of all, the trench-wives system is absolutely unsustainable on the scale it's implied to be used. According to the Reds we talk to, they ended up with tens if not hundreds of thousands of POW, who need to be fed and guarded and sheltered. Even if hadwave the security problem by saying that Reds drug all of their prisoners, no army should be able to feed that many free-loading mouths when their supply lines are strained and they have full number of soldiers still mobilized.

I can't see how using chemical weapons is worse than friggin rocket artillery. Scratch that, I've just remembered Liliana's background story.

Well, I still have my doubts about the starting phase of the war and eagerness with which either of the had for starting it. Reds' current occupational policies also work in their favor, as does their history of assimilating nyrean communities.

Usually, my Steele is a Kind Techie that loves to hunt things and spends most of their time hunting the local wildlife and taking what they got. I also try to make him/her asexual but that barely ever happens.

Mischievous, assertive, and greedy. They (herm) typically favor the most profitable opportunities, the most accurate weapons (so long as the damage is still adequate), and the most versatile equipment. In combat, they prefer swift and quiet melee assaults, but can also seduce almost any sentient creature. Prefers submissive roles during sex, but isn't so picky in the field in order to keep their massive libido in check between fights.

Actually, you can visit the Red Leadership, the head of the Red Occupation Force is visitable in that manor on the northern most part of the map in the Red-Occupied city. She gives you an offer to help the reds deal with the gold resistance and a road to further influence in Red politics.

As for your comment on scale, its actually even sillier than you think, the Reds live on a different continent (under-sea tunnels connect it to the Gold Continent) and have pushed the golds to 1 city. Which means there are presumably hundreds of red cities and quite literally nothing between them and total control of the planet. There pretty much is no way for the golds to recover short of the complete support of the UGC. The best they can get outside of that is reservation status in their own capital.

I actually did not notice that had been added.  Thank you.

And ugh, yeah, that makes it even worse.  Let's just get off this rock, I don't even care.  I mean I do, because I don't like the reds at all on a biological or cultural level, but sometimes you have to know when to give up and walk away.

Hopefully part of the agreement of a lasting peace is the hand-back of many cities like Kressia to the Golds, and the return of POWs.

In the real world, I'd say give the Gold POWS a big dose of neurotoxin antidote and running them through rehab *before* asking them if they want to come back, but it's smut world, and stockholm syndrome + forced drug addiction is sort of the deal.

Part of the problem is that there is essentially no reason for the reds to ever agree to that kind of deal, or any deal, if the war is so lopsided.  The only reason they have to spare the golds at all is that the UGC would be upset, and that barely even justifies them not crushing Gildenmere anyway.  What's the UGC gonna do if they just destroy it, exterminate the reds?  Impose sanctions that will inevitably be lifted some generations down the line?
