What goes in to making content for CoC2?

I like CoC2 a lot. It makes me want to contribute something towards its development. What those things are usually fall under the category of "It's likely nobody else will,", like scenes for a character or enemy I enjoy (Naiyana); that sort of thing.

But there are three things stopping me:
  • I don't know how the writing process for CoC2 specifically works.
  • I'm extremely lazy and lacking in motivation to do much else other than binge games all day when not working
  • I don't know how to submit or get my material reviewed.

So I'm asking. This is partially curiosity to see how the development works and partially to see if I can muster enough motivation to actually DO anything if given the knowledge of WHAT to do. I'm not a stranger to writing academically, recreationally or smuttily. However, all of it was exclusively for my own enjoyment (Except for the academic stuff). So while it is likely I'll write thirty pages of Coc2 related porn just for myself at some point, I want to know what it takes to get into the actual game.

Any input helps, thanks.

I did check them out before I came here, but didn't really find what I was looking for.

In order:
  • I already know how to write
  • I'm not gonna be doing transformations
  • This one actually does help but doesn't really tell me any of the etiquette or quality expectations associated with submissions. Also the provided parser guide is so GARGANTUAN that it instantly intimidates me into never wanting to use it.
  • I actually don't want to write a companion because I know the work involved and don't have the time
  • I have no intention of writing new enemy encounters, just scenes and dialogue for existing ones.
  • I equally don't have any intention of getting into anything as complicated as multi-branching dialogue.

I really just wanna know what goes into writing, editing and submitting small time scenes. I don't want to do anything big, because I tend to pick up and drop things on a dime and know biting off a large chunk is a one-way ticket to losing interest. Not every contribution needs to be huge. Sometimes you need the little guys to make the whole thing work.

For point one, specifically regarding using parsers, just use {squiggle brackets} whenever you encounter something that would be a game variable, like the PC's cocklength or name. Here's an example of a document that uses some parsers and some squiggle brackets, because I too am too lazy to master the parser to its fullest extent.

For point two: work on building up discipline. Believe me I'd rather be playing vidya most days too :p

For point three: there's a google form we use for submissions. Posting a forum thread with a link to your content is a good way to get editing and feedback from the community before you submit.

That's the kinda stuff I was looking for. Thanks a bunch Sav.

Motivation is a fickle thing for me. When I am motivated I work with the efficiency and speed of a machine, and when I'm not my mind will actively sabotage any attempts to work.
When it comes to sexual writing, it's a full on double-bladed sword. I'm either not in the mood for horny, or I'm TOO into it and I'd rather be watching it than writing it. Very rarely do I hit that middle ground of smutty enlightenment that lets me give enough of a crap to write about it but not act on it.

This is more of a personal thing, but for this game specifically, how much detail is TOO much detail? When I get going on stuff I can end up spending half a page on what would amount to several seconds of real-time action just detailing every bit of it. Based on what I've seen in-game I'm hoping that's more of a boon than a bust.

Finally, is there any sort of "creator etiquette" for using pre-existing characters? Legitimately, more than half of the reason I'm asking these things is because I want to give Naiyana more scenes, and she was created and written entirely by SKoW. I couldn't find a design doc on her either, so I'm unsure if that's allowed.

William's like that too, and people love his stuff. I don't think this'll be that much of an issue.

Asking the author for permission while giving them a good idea of the scene(s) you want to write is the polite thing to do. Strictly speaking, Savin has final say on what gets into the game, but under normal circumstances I doubt he'll allow scenes for characters that don't have their original author's permission.

I figured it was polite. How do I go about doing that, however?

I don't use Twitter and wasn't even aware there was a discord cuz I barely use that too. I guess that leaves using these forums somehow.
