What does each point of a stat contribute?

For example, what does 1 point of Physique contribute to melee damage? Is it treated as a flat value like a +0.5 or is it treated as a percentage multiplier?

What about Defense? How does that work? If you have 14 Defense, does that reduce damage by 14%? Or is 14 subtracted from damage taken from an attack?

Weapon damage is +1/2 (Physique/Aim) further divided evenly between damage types on the weapon you're using.
You also get (Physique/Aim)/2.5 as bonus Accuracy. (Not shown in Codex.)

Reflexes/2.5 as bonus Evasion. (Not shown in Codex but also not subject to the Evasion cap.)

Willpower gives .2 Lust Defense per point.

When an attack gives a save vs a condition, it's usually
Attacker Stat/2 + (1-20) vs Defender Stat/2 + 10
(50% chance if Attacker & Defender have equal stats)
The X Chance weapon flags are Defender Stat/2 + 15
(25% chance if equal.)
Third Eye Aim makes it Intelligence without dividing by 2.

Class abilities have individual multipliers/formulas, so how much a point gives you is variable.

Resistance reduces damage of a given type (Kinetic/Burning/Tease/Etc.) by a percentage, Defense reduces (Physical/Lust) damage by a flat number.
I believe Defense is calculated last (so it's more effective if you have Resistance to the damage type and less if you have a weakness).

Just to make sure I understand:

Damage equals half your Physique on melee attacks or your Aim on ranged attacks. Then, its divided again across the damage types of the weapon used. Is that correct? Such that one of those cybernetic implants that boost Phys/Aim by 10 would at best increase the damage of each attack by 5 overall?

While true, framing it that way kind of underestimates it.
1. It's always +5, but with 2 damage types, it's +2.5 to each.
2. If you have an ability that multiplies attack damage (like Power Strike), it's 5*multiplier
3. +4 Accuracy
4. +25% chance for your Status attacks to succeed.
5. +25% chance to resist Status attacks.*
*As far as I know, only Aim is never used defensively.
To put it another way, +10 is effectively putting you two levels ahead.

Damn so Steroid Augment is more impactful than MedImplant if Im using a stagger chance weapon like Knuckle Busters?

Note: X Chance only works if you're doing HP or Lust damage. They have effectively 0 chance if the target still has Shields/Armor, unless they're at least partially Lust weapons (though Lust weapons are useless vs Robots). Special Status attacks (Headbutt/Paralyzing Shock/Concussive Shot/Etc.) work through Shields/Armor.

MedImplants are good if you expect to take damage. I'd suggest you experiment with both to see how much damage you're likely to take.
There are a handful of things that bypass Shields, so if your class doesn't have innate healing, MedImplants might still be worth it. Or you could make a Vampiric Custom Psi Weapon.

I'd generally recommend Medical Milkers over MedImplants because of the bonus to Max HP, unless you really don't want your Steele to lactate. If you're worried about not being able to heal when you need it, Milkmaid's Aid is cheap and stacks to 50.
