There are complaints on this fourm about how the linux executable cannot be launched from steam AT ALL, thus an executable level fix is likely needed for use on the steam deck. It should be noted the game does work properly when launched outside of steam.
While this was tested on the steam deck version of steam os, I have not tested this issue on other distros including other archlinux variants, but I and I think others verified windows lacks this issue entirely.
