Especially in this community, I personally am bothered thinking about the responses to that whole femboy intersexed male thing... cuntboys themselves have shown to be completely alien to some of the fen fanbase. By that I mean, we had people in the blog posts back then call Gil when he first came to the pub build a 'flat-chested tomboy female', because people had no fucking idea what a cuntboy was, despite the fact that the opposite being dickgirls existed in this game for ages. x.x

Personally, I am glad Trials in Tainted Space doesn't have to deal with transition drama in most cases. Characters are "that way", just like Steele can be. And that's great.

Aw man, didn't mean for it to come off as that. There are PLENTY of good female characters, and a good amount are memorable, like Inessa, Erra, Paige, Xanthe, and Fisianna, just to name a few.

But a lot of them just don't stand out enough, and may as well be a talking pussy or pair of tits. True, it's a sex game, but with other characters that belong in a fucking spin-off of their own, it's disappointing at times...

I'd imagine it's so that there are certain standards sets of pronouns for the game. Also, pronouns like "ze" and "hir" are so rare and niche than an un-informed player might be very, very confused. But everyone knows of the singular "they".

Those pronouns aren't standard (or evenly widely-accepted) English. It's the same reason I get grumpy about the singular "they," though even I fall into the trap of using that because of how commonplace it's singular usage has become.

It definitely always was a slur, even if not intentionally. I also really hate "shemale", but it doesn't stop me from enjoying Kaede's content, no matter how much they repeat it.

I'd never use the term outside of a porn community, but shemale and trap are pretty ingrained porno terminology and very specifically describe certain body arrangements for clear and easily recognizable consumption.

And some scenes like those that Savin wrote that are said to be 'for traps' treat your femboy more as a dickgirl/shemale than a femboy/trap, so I can't really say they count as scenes for actual femboys myself.

The only scene I've ever written specifically catering to traps is Del's slut-training, which to me reads fine for traps or shemales.

That... is actually a bug. Or at least, an incorrect implementation. The scene as I wrote it calls for PCs with feminine pronouns on specifically, so, if you're playing a male trap and get access to that scene, something fucky's going on.

Then again I guess it could just be changed to [pc.boyGirl].

Nope, there is. That's long since been dealt with. The game's code now can recognize you as a trap just by bodytype alone. You need to be a androgynous or feminine looking guy with a penis and B-cup breasts or smaller to be classified as a femboy/trap on the PC's end. The decent trap scenes I've seen (The ones I interact with anyways, Like Ramis and the Tavros Brothel) exclusively refer your femboy as male anyways, it's hard written in the text.
The gender pronouns thing doesn't screw with that anymore like it used to. Now you just need the body for it, and if writing for them usually docs have something like "If PC is Femboy" or something like it. I mean heck, I have an androgynous male Kui-Tan character and I still manage to unlock the trap scenes with him despite the gender selection being set to auto, because he still fits the requirements for being a trappy guy. And I play as all of my femboys/traps identifying exclusively as male and I've still managed to unlock the same trap exclusive scenes because of that requirement met and the gender pref issue removed. (Thankfully too, because having to change them to female/auto just to access the scenes and then back to male once they were done was tedious as fuck when Ramis was the first to do that sort of restriction.)
But there's just the case of there not being a whole LOT of scenes accounting for that new system. Most sex scenes in the game will still refer you as the usual 'he/she' depending on respective fem/masc weight and gender prefs. I thought it felt strange that sometimes it would properly go to he and acknowledge feminine-guy status even if you're into the area where the game's parser calls default to she, which suggested that some framework had been implemented to do this regardless of outward femininity levels but it clearly hadn't been implemented universally yet. One of many backwards-compatibility problems where no one particularly wants to go back and make old content work with new systems, I guess.

And yeah dickgirls are more Savin's wheelhouse than traps.
