Transfering saves

Ok, so i just want to ask this here and now to get a definitive answer to this, just to get it all out of the way for me and anyone else who:

Will i need to start over from scratch once TiTS is fully ported, or can i transfer my old saves over somehow, maybe by using TiTSEd?

Speaking of which, will TiTSEd even still work in the future, or will that have to be scrapped cuz the code will be so different?

Not an expert, but I would imagine we'd be starting new saves. From what I remember from coding class, we'd essentially be trying to get the circular peg into the triangular hole.

Its a different coding language and a different framework, so it'd make sense that we'd have to start fresh.

As for TiTSEd, common sense tells me that someone will make a compatible version soon enough.

All the bullshit going down, and to top it all off i loose god only knows how many years of progress.

Im legit hoping that they managed to make them transferable *somehow*, cuz if not i may legit stop playing out of frustration. I know that sounds dumb, petty and immature, but i *really* dont wanna have to spend god only knows how many hours getting back to where i am in the game now.

Yeah, having TiTS ruined for me cuz of flash getting taken behind the woodshed. Wouldnt that be the icing on the cake that is this year. Fml

"Years"? I know the game has been out for a while, but it's really a lot less than that in actual playing time.

Having said that, I do get your frustration. A few months ago, I had to get a new hard drive for my laptop because the original one shit the bed. I lost all my TiTS saves (not to mention lots of other stuff). My motivation to start all over again was non-existent. With this jump to JS, however, my motivation is back up. The first few planets will fly by because I'll know where to go, who to fuck, how to defuse the bomb, what gear works best for my playstyle. I won't be the blind man at an orgy; feeling his way through.

I have confidence.

From what i can tell things are working fine even though flash has been old yellered already. Unless im mistaken and that last bit hasnt happened yet.

Well there are actually a few things i wanna change. Do KaraQuest right the first time, instead of what i have now where i save edited in the ending i wanted, and theres till bits i wanna change, like the emails.

And also redo the name of seras kid.

Bjt aside from that... honestly id make it all exactly the same for the most part.

So all in all im not sure if it balances out for me in that regard.

If something negative happens in regards to something i enjoy, i either utterly brush it off or become paranoid i wont be able to look past it and wont be able to enjoy that thing anymore.

No - that has nothing to do with it. While the port will have a different save file format (most likely json based because of the native support by browsers) this does not have an immediate effect on the ability to transfer saves or use an editor.

The editor is written in C# so the flash object format is just as 'foreign' as json, you can read/write sol files in javascript etc etc - instead of en/decoding one format you just have to en/decode another (ie the shape does not change, just the color).

Things could get difficult if they changed the way the game works internally so that the data elements of one format do not map directly to one of the other - but this would be a pretty stupid thing to do (porting the game 1:1 is enough work as it is).

Unless someone tries to prevent it (which I doubt) there should be no real technical problem with the transfer - somebody just has to do it.

But given that someone went as far as decompiling the whole game to update the editor when the public source drops stopped I would not despair just yet.

Ironically releasing the source (or save file format specs) for the port would make the whole thing more likely and faster...

As for the source code thing... idk. I dont know enough qbout all that hullababloo to make a statement on it.

To make it less painful:
1. Eating at the Bucking Bronco counts as Resting for 4 hours, including Soreness recovery. All Resting bonuses count, including Augment-Weave.
2. You don't really need to max out your stats. 5-10 under is probably enough depending on Level.
3. If you save your Level-Up points, and use Slow Stat Gain first, you can bank enough that you never have to hit the Gym again.
4. Higher level cap will make reaching this point easier. After the Port, they'll certainly add Level 11 and maybe 12.
