Why do you feel the need to make a new thread every time instead of just... idk... bumping the first one with updates? Necros to your own threads sometimes aren't necros if they have proper updates to them, ya know.

Simple. No one ever reads old threads. Might as well just yell out my apartment window.

I don't get the logic behind this. Replying to an old thread bumps it up to the top of the subforum it's in*, so you could just make a reply to your own threads and people will still see them. I don't see why people wouldn't look at a new post simply because the thread it was posted in is an older one, especially if they're interested in the thread's contents.
*Editing old posts doesn't do this, so if you want people to read the edited post make a new one in the same thread saying you've updated it.

Obviously we do if the threads are BUMPED BACK UP TO THE TOP OF THE PAGE.
Why do ya think we call out Necroposting so much? If you want your thread to get attention without it being treated as a necro, give it a proper update to bump it. Writers of these games have their own megathreads that sometimes still are updated even when they're years old. if you cannot be bothered to update your base thread, there's no point in making a new one for the same thing where nothing's really different.

Also, the people interested in the topic in the first place are probably subscribed to the thread and get a notification whenever it updates, so there's that ?

Scientists want to study you because they've never heard of anything as dense as that. But yeah, on a far more serious note, the only reason you might be shouting out your window is that your followers don't know you're updating...because you keep starting new threads instead of keeping all your updates in one place.

Its simple. Keep all your updates in one place, preferably in the original thread.

Well excuse me for not knowing that a forum I almost never use, and have posted in like 3 times works the exact opposite way of every other forum I have used ever.

Bro, I get that most other forums have a "no bumping old threads" thing (Heck, I'm part of one, currently dealing with necromancy galor in its board rn and its genuinely annoying). But maybe if you lurked a little more and did some digging you could've seen that it is in the very rules that it states that necroing isn't allowed UNLESS it's specific circumstances. The rules thread is old, but its rule on it still has merit:
Don't "necromance" threads, which means posting in them and bringing them back to the fore of discussion and activity weeks or months after the most recent post. This is okay, to a degree, if you have something actually pertaining to the subject at hand.
If you're the OP of the thread and its about a project you want to keep updates on, then I'm pretty sure it's safe to "necro" threads if you're the one doing the updates. Hell, the first two threads you made on this are a month apart in creation. That would be barely a necro had you properly posted the second update in the first thread, and if your progress is taking a good while, you're usually forgiven if you necro an old thread that hadn't been touched since the last update. it's usually the OTHER MEMBERS necroing that is looked down upon, as that tends to get rando newbies and whatnot not contributing much other than a "Is this still goin???" and the like.

Hell, you could've asked in General on what are the rules with necroing and get an answer there if you don't feel confident using the old ass rules post as a guide and want something more up to date. probably would've saved you this whole mess if you just did that. >.>

Every single forum I've ever visited (I'm 47 so I've seen quite a few over the years) works exactly like this one in that respect.
