TiTS Runthrough Challenges

So, I'm in the endgame of my first TiTS runthrough, and it's only been about a week or so. So, I'm thinking I'll try to challenge myself for the next file. I think it'd be fun to toss around ideas for self-imposed challenges, like how Pokemon has Nuzlocke or how 60 Seconds has so many stupid ones. I had two noticeable ideas.

#1: THE ABOMINATION CHALLENGE
Start out as a human and take one of every transformative item in the game. Basically, one of every item that can change your character in any way. On any item that gives you choice of color, size, etc. choose random. Eldritch horror guaranteed. Or terribly paletted sparkledog.

#2: THE UNTOUCHABLE CHALLENGE
This one is fairly difficult. Essentially, you have to get through the entire game without sex. If you have sex, you have to go back to your last available save and try again. Anything involving genitals, nipples, ovipositors, hardlights or tail genitalia (as well as another character/enemy) counts as sex. This essentially means you're not allowed to lose encounters at all. Masturbation doesn't count.

If anyone else has any good ideas, I'd be glad to hear them.

thats pretty easy then
If masturbation counted the game would be virtually impossible. I suppose if you really wanna make it hard you can omit that too.

I have actually been considering a "Eat all the things you pick up" play through, just to see where that ends out, similar direction to the abomination though probably somewhat more themed end result probably.

No sleep. Which means no leveling up.

Caveman Mentality:

Rock and Fist only.

Oh man, I've tried all of these before with very little success over the years. The "No level-up" one I think is impossible since your stats are capped per level, and a lot of quests and high-tier gear that could compensate are gated behind levels. You might be able to pull it off with a smuggler if you focus on evasion and just...savescum a lot. Or don't, you could just avoid any battle that has a game-over, but then I think you'd be roadblocked at Zheng-Shi by now, since it's one giant dungeon?

I gotta try Caveman again. The roadblock was just enemies out of reach, I had to get a bow eventually. Those rocks really don't seem to do much. Maybe I just need to max out all the stats?

As for "chaste" runs, those aren't hard if you have high willpower, low libido, airtight clothes, and save often...I actually got pretty far with that unintentionally - I was playing as a female character who was "saving herself" for a masculine male recruitable husbando, only for me to find out the hard way that there isn't one in the game yet. Oops.

Cavemen used bows. They used them against large animals that would be dangerous to approach, so they made a bunch of tiny, pointed sticks, made a rudimentary slingshot, and fired at them until they got too weak to defend themselves. Speaking of pointed sticks, cavemen also used spears, meaning you could totally do a caveman run with historically accurate weaponry.

Most of which are good mid-tier weapons that could actually get you pretty far into the game. I treated it more as a "monk" run rather than caveman when I played it, but it's still an interesting (if incredibly slow and painful) challenge. Really shows how much weight weapon stats ultimately have on our damage.

Got to level 4 before I hit a a giant space-pirate-shaped wall that I could not surmount without save editting. Yeah, it's still not worth it. It takes forever to grind, and you have to rely on your abilities even at max stats. You may as well be playing Anthem with porn playing in the backround. :T

Ben? Kace, if you stretch the definition?

The most holiest of grounds
Volatile character mode: No Saving. Cannot load. Bad ending or quitting the game is the end of your character.

One weapon, one battle mode: You can only use a weapon once to defeat an encounter. As soon as that encounter is done you have to throw away the weapon and get a new one. Running away allows you to keep your weapon but if you actually defeat them through any means even if you didn't use the weapon then poof goes your equipped weapon. You also cannot swap out weapons until the weapon you're holding is thrown away due to an encounter. Holding a lot of weapons in your inventory to finish missions with multiple encounters that you have to beat is allowed.

Ben? Kase, if you stretch the definition?

Ben wasn't in the game at the time (or maybe he was and it was breaking the game? I had to restart that playthrough multiple times), while Kase is naturally petite, and explicitly referred to as a femboy even though he's not trying to be feminine. He also wasn't in the game at the time. This was my second playthrough back in 2015/early 2016, I'm actually kind of shocked how I still technically wouldn't be able to pull off what I had in mind with that playthrough even now. I'd have to drop the "crewmate" requirement. I guess it's tough to get a man to stick around in TiTSverse. =P

You'd have to be a Focus Pill addict at that point

I started one of those! I didn't go very far though because I was more interested in finishing my first real playthrough

Sorry I know this thread has been dead for like 2 years but I was looking for challenges and this page came up a few times. So I'm using some low level necromancy on the thread. Can anyone recommend me another more recent challenge thread if there is ine

Level one runs are pretty interesting. I've reached Dhaal in my Lvl1 run. Was a bit more difficult before First-14 was introduced, but now you can get a lot of credits early game which makes things easier. Also did a few side missions like Kara quest and the Zil plantation quest. The trickiest fights were Dane and Captain Khorgan.

Oh yeah I've never tried a level 1 run
Not that you necessarily want to, but can't you lose to Dane without any real repercussions? Or do you have to fight him again later if you do that?

Yeah, although tbh I didn't read passed the loss scene so I don't know what exactly happens story-wise if you lose. You don't get a bad end at the least, so you can probably just go to Tarkus anyway.

There's a conversation on the Treasure Nova you can only have with him if you lose to him. So it's definitely possible to continue on after losing to him. I'm just not sure if there's a rematch with him later or something, to still end up with him ditched by Jack/Jill
