Did anyone use the cheats to put a few in their inventory? No, not asking how; I wanna try it out without going all the way to Phaedra II. And is there a story/lore friendly way I can explain it to myself?

Normally, I'd say you 'bought it off the Extranet' (with some % upcharge). Unfortunately, there's that ship in orbit, the planetary defense system that shoots down the Cousin and Behemoths are only found in the Radwoods, which is behind a broken train station. (Though there are probably other non-broken rail lines we don't see elsewhere around the area. IIRC, dialogue suggests there are a number of rail lines that lead there from other places on the planet. It's just the one near where Captain Steele landed that's broken.)
