It's no secret Discord's rolling out forced age verification and will limit anyone who doesn't capitulate. So, the question now being, what, if anything, is the move? People are already talking about alternative platforms. Stoat and Element are apparently the obvious choices. Considering the servers content, it will very likely be directly affected.

I mean, this place exists, so we kinda already have a backup, if a bit scuffed by comparison.

I've heard tell of TeamSpeak being an option, but I think that's more hard tuned towards voice chat, I'm not sure I've never used it.

They will also use AI to see all your messages in runtime to train their bot and moderation.

Valour has also come up. Open Source, doesn't sell your data and isn't monetized to the gills.

Element or Matrix-based solutions seem like the best bet for privacy. They're decentralized, open-source, and won't track your content for AI training like Discord's planning to do. The migration challenge is real though - getting everyone to switch platforms is always the hardest part.
