I don't know about others, but I definitely wouldn't mind seeing some more ferals. Teraurge has some, and a lot of xenophilia, but it seems to be the only interactive one I've seen around.

Teraurge is such a snowflake. It's a real shame, IMHO. Meanwhile the vast majority of porn games are basically just clones of eachother, utterly lacking in any creativity or uniqueness.

Sort of why I thought of delving into this topic. I think a lot of writers are too nervous to touch it since it delves so close to zoophilia. But personally, it feels like such an untouched fields for erotic fiction, evidently there are plenty of people that would love to see such content.

To put it on TiTs level, I was originally planning on putting the type of feral akin to the frostwyrm or more of how the mentality of the parasites creatures are. Evidently feral in form, but not quite truely animalistic-- they have their own personalities and uniqueness to how they behave.

Well, there is a strong societally induced negative reaction towards bestiality, enough that the majority feel 'icky' about content that is adjacent to it. Couple that with a majority of content creators (apparently) being risk averse as all hell, and it is only natural that feral goes mostly untouched.

Just my 2 cents, but I'd bet the negative reaction to feral content specifically would be less severe if the ferals were clearly the aggressors and the PC had no choice in the matter. Of course, non-con is its own can of worms, but it's far more common by comparison.

I don't even think it'd be better if they were the aggressors, just make sure people understand that the ferals are thinking beings. I mean, look at something like the Elcor from Mass Effect. People don't claim that any porn of them is beastiality, because they're shown in both the main source and the porn to be thinking beings. So long as it's readily available info that either the feral is consenting or is the aggressor, it should be fine.

The problem seems to come when people don't have that info up front, and so immediately assume it's beastiality. If the ferals are shown to be speaking or knowledgeable of their actions, there should be no issue. And if there is, those people need to evaluate themselves and what they consider intelligent life.

I think it helps if it's apparent the ferals are at least portrayed as thinking beings i.e sapient. They don't have to have be sapient to a human level or have their own civilization, and you don't have to be able to communicate with them, as long as they're shown as conscious and aware of what's happening and capable of acting in response to it. Even if they're nameless, this helps make them a character.

Going back to Teraurge as an example, sexual encounters with the Poh-Ack (a sort of cross between a xenomorph and a Tyranid Ravener) are, let's be blunt, bestiality when you have sex with them, but even if they don't have human-level sapience, they have enough personality that it doesn't feel so squicky. Poh-Ack are normally dangerous but have a quirk where, once they're defeated, they become completely submissive, even to the point of letting predators eat them alive without resisting, and if you have sex with a female one she's noticeably enjoying it and actively taking part by the end, so clearly she can think for herself, even if she can't overcome the racial trait that makes her completely submissive and psychologically incapable of resisting you if she wanted to. The fact that the scene describes her as "your partner" and suggests that you leave her sexually satisfied at the end mitigates the impression that you just fucked an "animal".

An even better example is the Caenemung, which is a unique (at least so far) NPC creature which is clearly sapient, but completely impossible to communicate with, despite the game's mystical power known as "the Understanding" that lets everyone communicate regardless of what language they speak (presumably it has no actual spoken language). You can actually impregnate the Caenemung if you're male and, on a later encounter, it will lay an egg in front of you and nod confirmation that you're the father. Keep in mind that the Caenemung is a giant, limbless, eyeless sea serpent (not to be confused with Naigad, a much less giant, limbless sea serpent with eyes that you can communicate with completely as well as have sex with as part of a deal).

[Teraurge Examples]

Ideally, this is the sort of balance i am aiming to hit. I don't find myself capable of writing anything where the PC forces themselves upon an animal. I'll be having acknowledgements in the introductions state by no means am I trying to "simulate" anything real or base any events off real world animals / acts. I know historically, platforms like Patreon had a sudden distaste against human x horse content, and i'm sure there are plenty of similar examples. It may be that I have to put enough "twist" on characters to make them more obvious they're fictional depictions, and that i'm not trying to simulate real acts.

It's definitely a thick grey line, but it's something i'm willing to give a shot at it anyways.

Can you tell us more about this game? do you have a setting in mind already? what engine are you planning on using? how much of the porn will be feral?

There are also games that solve the feral problem by making the pc a feral, which implies that in that world ferals have human intelligence (as you're playing as one) examples:
Defiler wings
Ravager
Redscale's adventure

Likely a fantasy setting; Initially i'll probably be working something with Twine and if there seems to be enough interest, I'd like to develop something into it's own engine.

I probably wouldn't make the porn exclusively feral, but I would like it to be a partial focus / something to not shy away from.

The important thing to remember...

It's not that shouldn't write a story about having sex with a deer.

It's that if that deer doesn't file her own taxes your going to have a lot of trouble getting paid for it.

Nani?!

I can think of a few different ways to interpret that.

The interpretation i'm going with is that the character needs to be sapient enough / mentally anthropomorphic enough as to not cause issues with the more taboo elements?

And that opens the door to the possibility of being paid for your work.

Admittedly, it is definitely a prospect I am already looking into. ^^

I've never charged for any content or writing before, but I have received tips from friends for some personalized content and have been encouraged to push towards commissions. I never really pushed towards that route before because simply I didn't find myself good enough to seek to be compensation for the stuff I made.

But I am getting to that point in life where, yes, some extra money would do me wonders right now and I feel this is the best way for me to pursue it. I love games, I feel there is a lacking niche in the community that I think plenty would love, and might as well trying to see if people love what I can make. :D

Well, as soon as there some kind of a preview build or something that can confirm it's looking like something I'd enjoy, I could definitely be on-board for some donating, feral content is rare enough to make me quite intrigued, especially if - as I'm given the impression of - possibilities include M/M content and playing as a human male.

A bit off-topic but anyone knows if Defiler Wings is still being developed?

Not for years, as far as I'm aware.

For that matter, even the developer of Redscale's Adventure has found himself overwhelmed by the scope of his own creation and put it on indefinite hiatus.

Slowly chipping at it when i can. Delving a bit more into patreon, evidently itd be walking in grey/black areas for their guideline, but im going to eventually get around on it anyways. Currently chipping away at another project that was a sort of side project while i get familiar with Twine that's sitting about 12k words. Looking to make it around 20k and throw that out for others to enjoy, potentially expand upon that later if enough people want more.

I think you should look at SubscribeStar. From what I heard, they are less strict in that regard
