So I posted this in the Discord general chat

As lovers of TiTS and CoC should these concern us?
and

And it was all pretty much immediatley dismissed, so I thought I might as well put it up for discussion on the forums, what do you all think?

While I understand, as someone stated in the chat, that not everyone has the time to watch things.

For those who ARE willing to take a bit of time to watch them, do you think such things have any bearing on our favorite games, or that such things should be taken into concideration in regards to them?

I rather doubt any of us would condone rape or any of the other things discussed in the talks in real life, yet it's fairly normal in TiTs and CoC.

Women talking about porn and rape culture... yeah I don't need to watch to know exactly what this is about. Suffice it to say that rape, both raping and being raped, is a super common fantasy. Largely due to the taboo and strong connection to dominance/submission, and despite the fact that the vast majority of people recognize it as a horrible traumatic event that no one should be subjected to for real. The people who legitimately rape (regardless of whether they do so by drugging someone, taking advantage of a family member too young or abused to resist, or simply pinning down a stranger in an alley) do so because they simply don't give a shit about how anyone other than themselves feels. They do not do it because they believe the victim enjoys it or because they saw porn that "normalized" it.

Yeah, I should have added that the titles are misleading, though I'm a little concerned how you immediatley assumed you knew what the videos were going to contain not only because of the titles, but because of the speakers gender.

Very very very few women speak about "rape culture" unless they're full blown man-hating uberfeminists that claim the whole world is out to get them. 95% of the time if a woman is speaking about rape culture, especially on a well known platform like TED talks, I can pretty accurately tell what the overall message will be long before starting the video. Besides, how misleading can the titles be when you finished the first post with "I rather doubt any of us would condone rape or any of the other things discussed in the talks in real life, yet it's fairly normal in TiTs and CoC." Seems pretty clear to me that these videos are about porn making rape look normal, or even desirable, to men. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the videos brings up an Indian case where half a dozen men raped a woman on a bus while beating her fiancee to death then gave half-assed justifications to a reporter that interviewed them in prison.
