Sins of the father is a Visual Novel I'm making in Unity.
The story revolves around a young man, named Mack, who has to come to terms with both his past and his future after having lost his father during a home invasion.

The game is currently in its first iteration: version 0.01 and will be under development for an unknown period of time. The current build is focused around building characters and setting the stage for the story.

Of course I don't mind
I briefly tried my hands on Ren'py, when I began searching for a game engine, but as I'm no coder (by any stretch of the term) I found it quite the hassle to mess around with and actually gave up on ever finding an engine for my project - then I bumped into Unity, and their asset-store.
I found the right asset and suddenly I was golden - well almost, but golden enough.
No coding needed to produce what I'm making and that was the kicker for me.
Besides that, it gives me an insight into working with Unity, for other projects that are lurking in the deep recesses of my mind, as I'm waiting for a friend of mine to finish learning C#, so he can join me in creating games.

Yeah, I heard about that, but as I understand it, you should be able to get away with it, as long as you don't overly promote it on the public Patreon page itself.
If they do bring their "hammer down", I'll have to revise my strategy accordingly.
Besides that, the incest part, as any part of sexual activity, in my game is by player choice only - well, that's what I'm going for, but it may turn out to be too tricky to implement. We'll just have to see down the road.

I was following several incest themed games, among others, and as they were not kicked off the site, I made the leap. Time will tell if that was a smart move
One would think it was enough to leave us out of the Patreon search system, but no, sir!

Yeah, they would have to do some search algorithm to find those games, or that would be an absolut hasle!

I think the problem with patreon is if you put certain words or content in the project page, they don't care about the game content.
And there is some creators who used that as an excuse to hide behind a pay wall.

Personally, I find it disturbing, that Patreon is changing their policy (or starting to enforce it vigorously) after so many creators have managed to establish a viable business there. I mean, they already took us off the search list for being "mature".
I don't understand the need to do this, and I probably never will.
I have a feeling, that the only thing keeping them from throwing the creators of porn/erotic out of Patreon, is the amount of cash, that would disappear with us. But that's just me.

I'm guessing a change in management brought this about, or Patreon has grown so big it thinks it can fuck over its porn based content producers in order to branch out further into the mainstream. Either way, it's a dick move to the people who are the /only/ reason Patreon is even a damn thing.

Namely that the window for the game is so damn big it leaves the bottom part cut off, which normally wouldn't be too big a problem if it weren't for the fact that the damn options are all located there. Even changing the resolution before starting the game doesn't work, since it auto-reverts to the last resolution you used.

Yeah. I'm not sure what's bugging Unity about that, but the workaround is to accept windowed mode with a lesser resolution at the beginning, and then bump it up to full screen through the settings, when the game is running.

That's how it goes: once a company has a near-monopoly on a service, they don't have to give a fuck any more and can be as lazy, incompetent, tyrannical, or just outright STUPID as they like. Look at YouTube and the AdPocalypse, or the way ANY dipshit can file a DMCA or other takedown strike on a video and a bot will automatically take it down without any checks or balances. Look at Steam and how it's become a festering pool of garbage because Valve think quality control is less important than ANY fraud being able to sell their asset-flip garbage as long as they can skim off the top. There's no bigger or better alternative to Patreon at the moment- so as far as they're concerned, they can do whatever the fuck they like and you can suck it up. They stepped a bit too far with the recent attempt to change charges, but that one MIGHT have actually destroyed their entire business, and the fact that they were still moronic enough to even TRY something so blatantly stupid and anti-consumer speaks volumes.
