I do apologies in advance if this question has already been answers somewhere in the site I just couldn't find it. The issue I am having is that I tried to find the saved data I had before flash went down. I was able to get the .sol files that were in my local directory. Now that I have those files I am not 100% sure on what to do next with the files or even open them. Does anyone have any steps for this process or do I have the wrong files?

So, to clarify, do you want to play with those save files, or edit them ?
1. Move them to your Flash Player's storage folder. If you're using Adobe's Debug Flash Player and are on Windows, my files are stored at:
C:\Users\InsertNameHere\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\K37KN44S\localhost
2. Open them with the Save Editor and save with Local (Standard). You need to have at least one save file in that folder already for the Save Editor to see it, though.
3. Open them with Save Editor and save using Export.
