Rogue-like (or Rogue-lite, as some call them) is a term used to a type of game that focuses on randomization, permadeath, and harsh difficulty. Some notable examples are the Binding of Isaac, Spelunky, Risk of Rain, Hades, and Dead Cell, all of which I enjoy to some extent, even if I'm not very good at playing them.
Now, the reason these games are called Rogue-likes is because they're all based on the game Rogue, an old dungeon crawler game which has all of these elements. However, most people (including myself) have never really touched the game since it's pretty old, so its considered a legacy title, sort of like Metroidvania is.
This, of course, begs the question: which Rogue-like game is the best?
That is why I have created this pole, and will await your answers forthwith.
