Random Enemy Encounters; To remove or not?

Seen in the gripes thread some folks were getting into a really good discussion about random encounters and their potential removal. The back and forth was getting a little long and another member asked for it to be moved elsewhere so I figured I'd create a thread.

So what are your thoughts? Should there be a way to remove the small time random enemy encounters in the game? Personally I think the suggestion that someone (can't remember who) put forth of having an item you can equip is a really solid method.

Gonna reply to some of the stuff I seen in the gripes thread over here to help get the ball rolling.

You laughably do not understand that this game isn't solely about sex if all you care about in this game is the porn then you need to find a game where every area/scene is a sex scene. As I have stated before this game needs these enemies to facilitate the the areas they are bound to otherwise this game would get boring and be almost redundant for having a combat system, So no you shouldn't be able to remove enemies on a whim because its a bit tedious, most of Y'all want all the reward without the grind. These enemies aren't even annoying most of you are just cry baby cheesing that a game with a combat system has enemies and recurring enemies.
The issue is that while the game isn't solely about sex a majority of its content is focused towards it. Sometimes people just want to rub one out to a specific character or scene and the random enemy encounters on the way to getting there can be a mood-killer. Saying "you want all the reward without the grind" when the subject matter is a game about erotic fiction writing is, in my opinion, absolutely hilarious. All users have access to the save editor, we can cheat in this game and make ourselves walking gods at the snap of a finger. We can also edit certain flags in the code to force certain scenes or events. At that point the random enemy encounters really do just become a total waste of time.

FYI you can fast travel basically omits any reason to remove random enemy encounters
What about the areas that specifically don't have easy access to fast travel like Pupperidge Farms and Zo? What about getting to Nihara in the undermountain? There are several locations in the game that aren't close to a fast travel point where random enemy encounters can get really annoying. Saying "fast travel omits any reason to remove encounters" blatantly ignores the biggest reason this feature is requested by players.

It doesn't matter if sex is prevalent in a game or not you need the bandits, raiders, Mutants, Dragons to make your journey not a walk through it may be annoying to fight a dragon in a hold with crucial npcs roaming but thats the beauty in itself the fact you need to defend a hold from a dragon is a tense moment purely because you are making sure no npc dies, unless its a guard or something.
It depends on the genre of the game I'd argue. CoC isn't a true blue RPG game, its a smutty choose your own adventure book. The focus of the game has always been the erotic content and not the combat or items. Its also not like people are asking for all random enemies to be removed for everyone forever, players just want access to some sort of ON/OFF switch so that they can regulate the amount of encounters. The annoying aspect isn't that you have to fight the dragon in a hold where some crucial NPC's are. The annoying part is that this is the 10th dragon you've fought in this same exact hold in the last 48 hours and for some reason, despite the fact that you keep winning easily, the dragons keep showing up and their population hasn't declined at all.

The combat encounter rate in areas drops after you clear a boss - the Alraune for the Old Forest, the Kervus camp for the Foothills, the Centaur camp for Harvest Valley. I reckon it'd be convenient to take that further and have an On/Off switch for combat encounters that becomes available once you've cleared the area boss. While of course keeping Explore and Pick Fight for people who are trying to trigger something.

I'll throw my two cents in: maybe after the player defeats a enemy encounter a hidden timer could be set that prevents any other enemy encounters from happening until X amount of in-game time has passed? It'd stop RNGesus from ruining someone's day with a streak of bad luck, which i suspect is where alot of the frustration comes from.

Maybe you could even have this 'grace period' be longer or shorter depending on wether the area is considered "cleared" or not; In uncleared areas it'd be short but just enough for the player to pick themselves back up, while in cleared areas it's much longer so a trip to Zo's or another NPC in the wild wouldn't feel like a chore. I have absolutely no idea how difficult it would be to implement something like that, however.

Outright removal of enemy encounters feels too extreme of a solution to me, i'd play around with the frequency of combat encounters first and see how that works out.

My point is it would ruin the game if you were to remove it, and gave examples to games that have way more annoying common enemies to deal with, like dragons in Skyrim in a hold/village and having to basically save critical npcs from dying. I guess I am just different breed of gamer that I want to experience a game in its entirety if sex is all you want maybe instead of removing encounters you can skip to the erotic parts of the game or just surrender to any random encounter if you are just here for the sex,

What about the areas that specifically don't have easy access to fast travel like Pupperidge Farms and Zo? What about getting to Nihara in the undermountain? Mate come on you know as much as I that they will eventually add waystones to those locations especially some of the waystones are placed specifically to skip the areas you are in like the kits there is even one to kas, as you stated previously way even need a random ecounter skip/off switch when you can save edit, you act like zo/pupperfarm are far away to get to, 2 encounters at most before you get there o_O what are you going to do, so stressful and annoying, you also fail to realise there is something like that in the game already when you beat the wayfort and beat the hornets, you essentialy have no enemies apart from wolves random corrupted Laquines you can decline to fight almost all the enemies in old forest.
not the combat or items. Its also not like people are asking for all random enemies to be removed for everyone forever, players just want access to some sort of ON/OFF switch so that they can regulate the amount of encounters. Sugar coating it with "its mainly an erotica" doesn't remove it from an rpg open world which itself is bound to its components, I don't see the validity in having an off switch for enemeis that aren't many of. You haven't been in a hold when vamps spawn in basically decimate the guards and npcs, over and over again, its not just beating the enemy you got to make sure you don;'t hit any npc whilst trying to defend them against vamps and dragons as if you hit even 1 every person in the vacinity will engage on you, mind you dragons level with you, super mutants level with you, deathclaws level with you, ghouls level with you, so the the common encounters in this game a basically tame,

The focus of the game has always been the erotic content and not the combat or items
then why even have a combat system in the first place if sole point is erotica, because the devs want these in the game because it adds depth to a game that would be bascially has you playing in peaceful mode whats the point in even playing then you if you remove encounters.

I think maybe an "auto-win" option if you're tremendously overleveled against a given enemy group could make some sense, that and the repel item option could kinda help avoid some annoying encounters

Other than that, I kinda don't really mind the random encounters and largely agree that they do decent work keeping the various regions from feeling barren after you're done with them

Can we require it to be made from 100 slain imps and 50 wolves?
This could be a good quest. Maybe Ivris talks about doing some alchemy research on creating some sort of monster repellent and asks for the Champ's help gathering the materials? It could be something that triggers after opening up the path to the Wayfort. Just a thought but I think it'd be neat.
