Quick Question: What are the best armor and weaponry in the public build currently?

So I have had a heck of a time trying to figure out which is:

-The best overall armor.

-The best overall shield.

-The best overall melee weapon.

-The best overall ranged weapon.

Perhaps we can have a discussion and you guys and gals can tell me what your top choices are and where you got them (as I can't figure it out through the wiki).

This is probably opinion based but...

Best Overall Armor: I still find myself using the Grey Goo armor lots, as it has a decent defense rating and really helps with tease damage as well. Slightly lower tease defense and vulnerable to electric attacks, but the added feature of being able to deal tease DoT as well as being the best airtight armor at the moment helps it stay prevalent to the higher defensive armors as it blocks out pheromone attacks. Plus it will still be getting upgrades on later patches I believe so the lil goo won't fall into obscurity! Can get this goo after you clear Anno's quest on Tarkus where you explore the mysterious ship deck.

Best Shield: Reaper Armaments Mark I Shield Generator, still best shield hands down for raw shield points and 40% kinetic resist. Can get this during the main storyline when you defeat the Nyrean Princess, or choose to kill Queen Taivra

Best Overall Ranged Weapon: This is prolly where we start getting into grey lines, as certain weapons might benefit different classes more. So I'll divide it based on class.
  • Merc: I still find myself using the Secure MP for my merc. Really helps land those multi hits from Rapid Fire perk. You can get this from doing Saendra's 2nd quest after you rescue her on Deck 63.
  • Smuggler/Tech: I might hand this to the "Black Light" Ultraviolet Laser Rifle. Has the best raw damage of any gun currently out right now. Has a nifty +3 bonus to crit chance as well. The SunFire rifle is also pretty nice if you like the additional fire DoTs. Less damage and crit chance though. Both are energy weapons so great for techies to use! You can get this from Kirila in Uveto, south of Irestead.
  • Tech: Khan's Arc Caster is also a great weapon for techies to use also if you find anything flame resistant and weak to electricity. Has almost the same damage as a BLUV rifle with slightly higher crit chance, but slightly lower acc. Also comes free if you beat Dr. Khan during Kara's 2nd quest.
Best Overall Melee Weapon: Again, we're following grey lines here, but a little moreso than ranged, so here we go.
  • Merc/Tech: I like the Plasma Hawk. It's an energy weapon that can inflict burn DoTs as well. Think it also can dish out the most raw damage so far as well. Has a little more damage than Kirila's Thermal Scalpel, but is oddly cheaper as well, but getting there might be a bit difficult as the trader is located in a cave in the south eastern part of Uveto in the rift.
  • Smuggler: I like the Essyra Greatspear for Smugglers, as it gives a nice +5 bonus to evasion, as well as good accuracy and crit chance bonuses (+3 and +5 respectively) Has some pretty good base damage as well! This can work for Mercs too if you want a bit of a boost to evasion, but you'll lose out a bit in damage. The extra evasion I find more useful to smugglers though. This can also be found by the traders in the southeastern cave in the Uveto rift. Pretty cheap too at 12k credits.
  • Tech: Emmy's Vamp Blade is also a good solid choice for a melee weapon for Techies for its "Greater Draining" ability. Doesn't pack near as much damage as the Plasma Hawk, but it is a fairly good defensive option if you are a range build. Good against enemies with shields as it helps bolsters Techie's already high shield capacity. Can get this from Emmy's 2nd part of her quest by giving her a Picardine (or 11 Crystal Shards for a randomized 1/3 chance) while your Physical quotient is larger than your Aim quotient (or Aim affinity if both stats are equal).

Ranged Weapon: Either Blacklight Rifle or Khan's AC. They both have their own nitches, but blacklight bearing the dreaded lazer tag makes Khan's generally better for general purpose
Melee Weapon: Emmy's Lava Sabre (Tech) / Essyra Greatspear (Smuggler)
Armor: Weavemail Coat. (Tech), Omnisuit (Smuggler)
The last one requires some explination. Grey goo is all well and good, but it's lust weaknesses coupled with the power creep means that we now have better alternatives. Once Grey Goo gets it's Uveto upgrade from the finall chunk of Lessau content, it will be elevated to on par with Weavemail. For smuggler, you should be focusing on stacking evasion before anything else, Omnisuit is really the only armor atm with the a good evasion score, so for the moment we'll ignore the fact that it shares most of Grey Goo's weaknesses.

Grey Goo feels like it's always gonna be a safe choice, given she's an actual character you can wear, and as far as I know Couch has plans to give her some electricity resistant + bonus shields I think? Plus, hey, you can fuck her, which in a porn game is all that matters. Also, we really need her to be able to take on a duster appearance.
And weapon wise, I would say:
Ranged Smuggler: Khan's Arc-caster
Melee Smuggler: Essyra Greatspear
Ranged Merc: Aegis Light Machinegun
Melee Merc: Essyra Greatspear
Ranged Tech: Khan's Arc Caster or whatever you fancy from Kirilia
Melee Tech: Plasma Hawk

Honourable Mentions go to the Bio-whip and Emmy's Vamp blade, which really work well if you use ranged, as they only provide benefits!
Thanks to the above guys for letting me know about Essyra too!!

Where can one find both Essyra Greatspear and Plasma Hawk? Smutosaur TiTS wiki hasn't been updated in ages (something I know of way too much as a wiki editor) and my PC was recently nuked meaning that the only savefile I had left me right after Uveto's inclusion.

Go along the southern most portion of Uveto. You'll find a shop in the glacial rift.

To clarify on what others said, take the southern most road into the glacial rift, go upwards when you can if my memory doesn't fail me, and it's in one of the caves.

Pretty sure it's backer version only atm, at least I can't find it in public.
Nah, their shop is in the public build right now, it's nearby where you find that Milodan Fertility Priestess.

Forgive a filthy non-backer for his sins, but... Who is Lessau and what is this upgrade you speak of?

One expansion to the Steele Biomedical content is a research facility which has been overtaken by a native lifeform, replacing Gardeford's abandoned dungeon. The boss of that dungeon offers an upgrade to the goo armor based off its biology.

Note that administration has not reviewed the dungeon or its contents, and they are therefore subject to change.

Well, that's dandy, but now o have more questions. What's this abandoned dungeon? And is the source code for the dungeon up yet?

It was never written past a general idea to my knowledge.

And there is no code because like I just said, it hasn't been reviewed by the staff. Once they eventually look at it, if they like it, it'll get coded. If they don't like it, I'll have to fix whatever they don't like about it and submit it again. That's how the process works.

NONE of Lessau's content was coded by the staff. Lessau and the office gangbang were coded by a community member, so its safe to assume that the rest of Lessau, not limited to the dungeon and frostwyrm quest, won't be coded until community members code the rest of Lessau's modules. I think he has at least 8 xpacs (synthsap, steele honey, Walt, Cynthia, Lupinol, Holsteria, FrostwyrmQuest & LessauQuest) in some state of limbo, with the quest parts almost certainly being the last on the coding block. I vaguely remember seeing a draft of LessauQuest. Basically a undersea station is taken over by electric jellyfish (who identityrape the PC in bad endings). There is a possibility that this won't get by Fenexo due to the bad endings being a tad more twisted than Lane's bad endings.

why is weavemail better than the black void armor?

It posesses a hidden 20% bonus against necromancy, so it can only be raised from the dead after three months rather than two years.

Void armor has 30% higher thermal and electric resistances. Weavemail has 4 higher defense and 10% higher kinetic resistance. Currently, the amount of stuff that use thermal and electric over kinetic is rather minimal.

I like the Goo Armor, Savin is working on Power Armor, and I'm working on Secret Living Armor Project or SLAP. Loving would also be an acceptable L word.

I for one can't wait for power armor so I can finally use the LMG without relying on RNG.

Hmm which one armor project will be done first...

Still better would be only one that get best parts of both. And that way you two can save some of the time when co-op on this grand project.

(@RanmaChan I thought it was when someone said Tyranids sucks that you made WH40k thread xD)
