Well not wanna rain on this idealistic setting BUT...if there would be some quite advanced civilization how can owners of the gate suystem be sure those aliens won't actualy in few decades crack gate software/hardware and just open it on their end again. I bet UGC got some protocol for case if their get reports on this new dangerous cilization been hight advanced in technology to posses ability in short time to just reopen warp gate ^^ (I think as usual it may be jsut some remote self destruction of particular troublesome warp gate, right?)

Destroy the gate on their end before that can happen?

On anther note... wow we've digressed from planet ideas huh?

True that, but this bit of their codex:

made me think that UGC sends some sort of military professionals to do at least a preliminary scan before declaring the system ripe for the picking and letting anyone with a ship in.

Codex bit refers to Confederate citizens (in the same way you might say American explorers contacted such and such tribe of natives). Guess that could be cleared up.

Or in case of a megacorp being involved, for some machinations in order to get legal rights to exploit the living shit out of natives.

Welcome to TiTS. Please take your Corporate Dystopia from the receptacle.

Lastly, what are those rushers supposed to do if the planet has no unclaimed riches?

Whatever they want to. Leave for another system, make trade deals, steal shit and dare the primitives to stop you... the possibilities are endless.

As you mentioned with Myrellion, most of the planet's surface is controlled by one of the sovereign states. Both of which are quite eager to make deals with various mega-corporations to get at their sweet alien tech and support. That's probably what happens a lot with more primitive species; more advanced ones like the gryvain would likely be approached on more even footing.

Let's look at the discovery and settling of America, since that's a prime inspiration for the Rush mentality: "Oh look," say the Spanish. "We have discovered a vast civilization with untold wealth. A civilization that is vastly technologically inferior to ours. Let's kill them and take their shit."

BUT...if there would be some quite advanced civilization how can owners of the gate suystem be sure those aliens won't actualy in few decades crack gate software/hardware and just open it on their end again.

Gates are all two-way systems. Even if someone reactivated theirs, the Confederate-side one would still be deactivated, rendering the other Gate useless. And yes, they probably do have some sort of emergency self-destruct.

Well I taking UGC would be able to remote trigger warp gate self destruction. Otherwise any too inteligent enemy race would get like on a silver plate entry point to whole UGC space.

Nope tht not much drifting away from idea. This one is about high advanced civilizations planets that may been part of current rush and dangers their bringing up ;)

That pretty much covers all the points I raised. Especially if the more advanced civilizations we will get to visit will be of a chummy, fun loving kind that are totally on board with allowing hordes of horny space vagabonds and peddlers to run free-ish across their system.

Thanks, Savin.

I'm now looking forward to see what those high-tech worlds will have to offer. :)

A civilization that is vastly technologically inferior to ours. Let's kill them and take their shit."

I'm sure that most Megacorps will prefer to use the equally venerated 'beads trading' and 'making the natives mine those resources for them via totally-not-slavery' approaches, if only for the long-term effectiveness and PR.

Do "planets" need to be purely physical locations? I was thinking, or am thinking I suppose, of a cyberspace "planet" which has absorbed a probe's data, and Steele has to enter and navigate its cyberspace, either by gaining sufficient user privilege or by hacking through it, to access it. Could be anything from Tron-like VR with avatars, battles and races, to, well, I can't actually think of a sufficiently player-friendly alternative right now, but anyway: Cyberspace. VR.

Another idea which I just came up with is for the prison planet, but I'm not sure how much is decided about it, so ignore this if it's too late: What if the prison planet is privately owned, and the prisoners are used for forced labour to dig out something mysterious deeper inside the crust or core of the planet? Could be anything from a primitive underground civilization which possesses some lucrative ability, to some kind of new material or energy source, to buried ruins of an ancient civilization (you gotta have the ruins of an ancient space civ somewhere in the game), and Steele is either appalled by the work conditions of the prisoners and fights (perhaps together with some more humanitarian jailor) to get rid of the current top prison brass or, if hard, in order to get to the stuff down there before the prison top brass claims it all.

That's a good idea, but it would be hard to explain why these digital beings were interested in sex. Maybe they were all infected by Trojan Horsecocks.

The idea of a prison planet is already on the developer's mind.

For Cyberspace VR we already got... um how it was named galactic intranet in whole UGC. So that culd be idea for planet itselfs like not in physical place but VP as ne of those put in cathegory core worlds. As if it would be some new planet well been in VR it mean civilzation that made it must be quite much advanced plus there is no possible to sent warp gate to virtual star system so it could be evetualy made as planet itself is physical and only on it surface part or maybe whole surface is covered in highly advanced coputer that is generating this VR there.

It have potentila to be interesting idea but sounds like much work may be needed to be spend on this to make it working.

That's a fun idea. Or it could be a Star Trek: The Motion Picture parody where scientists created a probe/machine for gathering data and sorting knowledge, but they gave it a VR interface and soon became preoccupied with turning it into a VR sex simulator. When funding for the project was about to be cut they uploaded themselves into it and launched it into space to drift and live forever in its VR. Eventually, the programmers/scientists grew bored of constant sex with mostly mindless programs and started working on more complex A.I. for more advanced and emotionally satisfying interaction, and that's why the Steele Tech probe was absorbed when it entered proximity.

Then, the system's firewall, perhaps turned into a rogue A.I. by Steele's cousin, decided that the probe was a threat, and started fighting against the programmers and their more advanced A.I. companions, and Steele has to help them defeat the firewall so that the probe's data can be accessed. Or something along those lines.

I like the Trojan Horsecock thing too, though.

It could be an early prototype for the intranet, although I don't really remember anything about it. The wiki doesn't have info on it either as far as I can find. I don't think VR is all that advanced either, compared to stuff like advanced A.I.'s. Though I don't think there's any point in me speculating further without some more official input on whether there's even a possibility of a VR planet-or-space being possible.

IMO it wouldn't stretch player's suspension of disbelief too-too far to have one of the probe get hacked and have it's data stolen and stored in a way that would require Captain Steele to go through an adventure in a VR space in order to get the data back.

The idea of a secret research base with one of it's super advanced AI gone rogue sounds pretty interesting, and if it were to become a thing, the robot/AI/techie NPCs would have a major chance to shine. Just imagining Hand So, Bess, Anno and Gianna backing you up in something like this gets me pretty excited.

However, I have no idea with the devs or the writers have enough interest in exploring a big VR setting to make enough content for main story planet. So maybe the whole thing might work better as a cool sidequest.

I'm also pretty sure that the technological level of TiTS allow for a pretty immersive VR experience. I mean, if a dingy bar in the ass-end of the galaxy can have rigs that are pretty impressive by modern standards, the top notch stuff must be insane.

TiTSverse VR and computer technology in UGC seems to be as expected on much much higher lvl than our irl ones. Just it's not so much used ingame in content by writers yet. Maybe their not entierly sure how far their can go in this matter (for nt writers that are devs too) or some other reasons stopping them from writing more VR related contest. Heck we still waiting for holodeck on ship AFTER we FINALY get ships/space combat system working.

Hmm interesting... Thinking of planet rushers as spanish conquestadores really helps clarify the TiTS setting for me... Hmm would that make a hard Steel something like a space columbus? IE willing to do whatever it takes to exploit the natives and their resources for maximum personal benefit?

Unless your Steele is in cahoots with any company that uses indentured servants or is willing to do a Snugglé, I don't think that'd be the case. Too bad we can't do direct stuff with Steele Tech... Not yet, at least.

Oh, and it's "conquistadores". I can't be the only one who hates it when a language adopts a foreign word with a clear equivalent ("conquerors") because potato and people spell it wrong or use it in confusing ways. Ah, the many times I've seen "viola" instead of "voilà"...

A cool idea for a planet could be taken directly from Halo's book: An exoplanet / shield world in which there is a massive sprawling civilization underneath a relatively open-ended undeveloped world that is being used as a cover. It would be a pretty cool idea to have the player (as a part of a quest of something) discover this planet and go about their regular Planet Rush duties before being tipped off that something is amiss about the planet and chooses to delve deeper into the issue, eventually discovering this "planet within a planet." It would satisfy the people who want a probe on a technologically advanced world, while still allowing for the typical planet interactions that everyone else loves - giving us the best of both worlds and allowing the player to choose their interaction with the world. In addition, the quest could be tailored to allow for the player to determine their own interaction with the planet; they could decide whether or not the planet is treated as a 'normal' planet and left alone, or if the civilization is unveiled and forced to face the UGC under the decision of induction or war.

A moon of a not important/uninhabitable planet, where a community of robot/android (even cyborg but mostly castaway saved by the community) live. (and maybe some gundam too just for fun)

My inner weab makes me desire a planet inhabited by Japanese mythology-inspired monster peeps. Anything to get some horned Oni babes (CoC's Izumi is my jam). Hell, maybe have some Kirinfolk (maybe they're 'taurs) or anything else one might think to draw from.

+over 9000 for this idea :circlefap: :parrot:

As seen above I totaly would support if there would be confirmed such planet may be added someday.

How about floating or flying cities? Anything from Star War's Cloud City to spaceship colonies that're unable to land because of some reason.

For example, say that a planet's surface or weather or inhabitants or whatever has some acidic or space crystal magic properties, and the science crew needs samples in order to devise a counter. Steele volunteers because probes and Steele Tech mineral mining rights and helping the colonizers, and goes on an expedition to the planet's surface. Could involve power armour (for extra protection) and spaceship combat (for the descent and ascent) when those are implemented.

Edit:

Another idea: H/Bollyworld, perhaps obviously a planet where all the producers, writers, directors, glamorous stars etc. congregate to shoot movies and series. I imagine there's a market for Planet Rush adventures, showcasing the newest commercial TFs as product placement, new species in porn etc., as well as the regular stuff.

Maybe Jack/Jill has landed themselves a role in a big budget movie where they portray themselves as the good and courageous adventurer that foils their spoiled and underhanded cousin, as in basically swapping the roles, and you get to decide how to handle it, from sabotage to participating in a documentary and bringing witness reports from NPCs you've helped, stuff like that. Chat with a writer and give them ideas based on your adventurers. Fuck celebrities, do porn.

Ohh an actualy reason to make ship combat as in planetary atmosphere....good, good let the creativity flow in you :D

Well as long there would be some limits on ship size it would be doable. Otherwise I can't imagine capital ships 'exchanging' pointers in this planet atmosphere -_-'

What about a world of fire to counter Uveto's world of ice? The inhabitants could be dinosaur-like people, cold-blooded so they thrive in the heated environment. Like Uveto's cold, you'd need special equipment/traits to handle the intense heat of the world, maybe even extra if you have the Icy Veins perk from Frostfire (the thick fur would make you more vulnerable to overheating).

And I like the idea about a world where the Rushers are thought of as gods from the heavens, cause you know Rival Steele would milk that and make a situation bad for you.

And you could try to get the opportunity to play the role of the cousin in order to sabotage the film or whatever it is you want to do.

A smallish planet where, after a series of events, you uncover that the planet's primary race is extremely warlike, like the Thraggen, but they are better at waiting. Then you have to get to your ship and get off planet before the UGC closes the gate and you're stuck in that sector of space. There could even be a random waifu of that race that you can miss recruiting before you are forced off planet. It would have to be a side planet. Or it could be a main planet and finding the probe is the catalyst that sets off the war race.
