I'm having trouble defeating the final boss Amara Faell in the pirate base as an engineer. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You need to use tease attacks or use weapons that cause lust damage, like the Goozooker.

Its possible to beat her through damage as a tech specialist, but even with maxed out stats nearly the entire battle is a game of chance. A far more reliable route is to do lust damage, as Number13 said. The Advanced Slut Ray that you can get from Dr. Badger is probably the best you can get without going through any more quests. If you got rid of Badger the Goozooka is the second best, but you should take at least ten goo vials, as Amera doesn't go down easy, even with lust attacks.

Techs have issues due to usually using weapons she's resistant due because power armor.

I suggest taking the slut route and engage in good old fashioned combat stripping.

Headcanon confirmed: all pirate bases in the future have at least two stripper poles in case any fights break out inside the base

Slut Ray gun IMO is an absolute must have for a tech. It is a lust AND energy weapon, and not many foes can outlast even one Volley with it. And you don't feel stupid stripping in combat when using it.

Something I found surprising is how Badger lets you buy an "Advanced Slut Ray Gun" a short period of time after you buy the first gun. It was unexpected as I couldn't find anything about it on the wiki.

Honestly I have no idea. I didn't know the thing existed until it showed up in her shop, there was no accompanying text to explain why it appeared, and I can find no mention of it in the wiki.

Yup, also just tested it out myself, bimbofying Penny unlocks the advanced Slut-ray.
