Triple X Tycoon is an adult business management sim from Joy-Toilet. And so far, development has been an volatile ride. The juicy bits of that story have all been chronicled in our devblog which can be found here. If you're into the behind the scenes of adult game development, that read is for you. Otherwise if you're just curious about how an adult industry game might work, stick around a bit.

Our engine is custom which means we get to do whatever we want. Sometimes people say it's more expensive to do that but it can't be because we haven't spent any money on it. Mostly because there isn't any of that stuff around to spend. So we have day jobs. Some of us had skin in the game, one of us was a stripper, another was a cam model, but I'm a body piercer. Can you tell yet that we have a thing for bodies?

We've had people wonder how deep the game will be. Well your customers can each make individual decisions to buy your stuff for starters, just like you made the decision to click this forum post. And then you being the badass you are kept reading, for which we're grateful. So then maybe you'll check out our website, but you won't know the URL until the end of this post. Which means there's more or less of a chance of you getting that far because I mentioned it. And what about the other games you could be checking out? What if you're a skimmer not a reader? What if your browser doesn't even show images? What if your Internet gives out, right now? Would you come back to this page? We can "what if" all day, and we do.

Remember, we hate our day jobs, we have to do this. And we have to do it right.

Speaking of doing things, there will be lots of things to do. But the focus is in running your adult business. You want to shoot porn? Great, we spent lots of time getting that to work. You want to run an adult cam operation? Great. Run a man-magazine? A trans-calendar? Sure. But be careful, once the digital age rolls around you could be screwed if you're not online. You can do it however you want. And if that's not good enough we've got mod support.

In terms of scale the game primarily takes place in the fictional city of Port Pleasant although the stage is global. The more casual player might spend their time observing and delving into the politics there, or they might be more interested in the more intimate details of their products. Our favorite part of this is being able to buy property. A good example would be a tycoon starting off in a motel. They might then extend their operations to two rooms, although paying more to do so because it's risky for the owner, right? So you buy the motel. You gain access to all of its rooms and maybe you rent some out for a solid profit while you make money off filming skinflicks in the love suites.

If this seems cool to you, nice! We're glad you like it.

Wanna play? You can, as long as you understand that it's a minor Alpha and basically stripped of all broad mechanics until we know how it works, performance wise, on lots and lots of devices in it's most basic (stable) form. And to the Mac users, it's not there yet but we got you. Thanks for reading, check us out at:

EDIT: Thanks to everyone who voted for us on Steam Greenlight. How things have changed! We are also now on Patreon! If you like what you see here, check us out?

Okay you've totally confused me, the first 3 pictures are rather horrific looking pixel art (no I don't dislike pixel art, but it has to be done right) and then the 4th picture is much nicer, but is a totally different art style! You need to clarify what these pictures are representing, and if they are all part of your game, you really shouldn't switch art styles like that without a valid reason, like for example, how Evoland/Evoland 2 had a valid reason

The game simply changes perspective. You can get initimate with your products and be present during filming/production/manufacturing. Or you can be outside soaking in the sounds and antics of the city. The first few screenshots are just us indoors, while the last screenshot shows us outdoors at night with the fancy shaders on. It's all pretty unified in-game, same artist and everything!

I'm actually going to make an edit based on that feedback, I definitely left something out!

I am a backer and voted greenlight.

Too bad my alpha crashes trying to name my company...

You playing v2.9? If so, have you opened the Readme.txt included in the download? It contains all the instructions, controls and crash triggers as well as a support sheet you can fill out and send to us. We can't fix issues we don't know exist. And you're a backer, you're our favorite, you can talk to us! Anyone can.

You are on STEAM?! Ermmm isn't Steam really against "adult" games? Most "adult" games have to be censored so they can be sold on steam (Hunie Pop and others)

So it looks like it'll be purely from a management viewpoint in-game(purely based on this thread, haven't played yet). Are there plans for a PC model or are we always gonna be like the "camera"? Is the possibility of the PC doing the role of pornstar themselves out of the question? Perhaps to save money or something. There have been porn stars that have gone from in front of the camera to behind it of course.

I like the game either way, just a few questions/suggestions.  On a related but other topic, having a PC model would be neat to show as a representative of how well the player is doing or how far they've gotten. Like going to a menu and seeing the PC at a small messy apartment in the beginning or a studio with plenty of awards on the wall with a fancy desk, etc.

Right so single player is from an "eye-in-the-sky" management perspective. However, if we get our way, we do plan to enable character creation and individual player progress for the multiplayer component. I should note that online play won't ship with the vanilla game however since we simply don't have the resources to allocate in that direction right now.

That topic will actually come up in our next devblog.

V2.11 RELEASED + PATREON

Fenoxo!

Today is a little strange for us. We know it's been awhile since posting here, but those who follow us know we've been having just as many ups an downs being made public than we'd like to admit. We strive to share as much as we can about our project while remaining as transparent as possible in regard to what happens not just on the design front, but in our own business. Long story short, v2.11 is the first public patch to a short build that serves as a proof-of-concept more than it does a demo.

It's a long story, how we got here. Last night we completed entry # 18 of our dev series Making Triple X Tycoon and the feedback so far has been enough to push us into unknown territory, Patreon. We like to think our dev-blogs are worth a couple minutes but for those of you who can't spare it here's the TL;DR -

- We started working on the game in 2014, but the market was a lot less open to popular adult titles on major platforms than it is now.
- Steam was not allowing many adult games on the platform.
- Adult publishers wanted more hentai.
- Mainstream publishers wanted less sex.
- We didn't have too much of either, we got sad.
- We tried to raise money on OffBeatr, no dice, they went bankrupt.
- The project got put on the slow-cooker.
- There was hope with IndieGoGo, with restrictions.
- We raised $1000 to sustain the project, people liked the idea. We loved them.
- We spent a while pouring what we had left into tech and art in hopes of seeing it through sooner rather than later, it wasn't enough.
- The project has no full or part time developers. The lead dev does what he can.
- We asked our backers and supporters what we should do, they said Patreon.

So we're giving it a shot. All the toil aside, the project is still going smoothly with last month being easily among the most productive. The primary concern is the rate of progress rather than progress itself. There's something about dire situations that definitely push you past what you thought were your own limits. But like to think there's no such thing. If you had backed our project on IndieGoGo you'll hear from us again tonight. If you're new to this whole thing, welcome to our little joyride to hell.

As always feel free to ask us anything you'd like. A link to the latest build can be found in this blog post.
