Paroxysm is a playable early-alpha text-based multiplayer RPG (a MUD). Adults only.

A modern supernatural dystopia. The gates to Hell opened. Almost half of humanity died. The gates closed. What remains is under the Cortex — a world government built on surveillance, containment, and control. Player-led societies form in the wreckage. The supernatural is real. Under the Cortex, humanity endures.

Paroxysm is a world built by its people. Systems are unfinished. Bugs exist. The world is still forming. We are building it in the open.

The world itself hasn't changed. WWII ended when a portal to Hell opened, almost half of humanity died, and the gates closed. The Cortex has watched everyone since. Vampires, werewolves, demonborn and Cortex enforcers fight over factions and territory, PvP is on, and AI Champions compete alongside players.

You can play a vampire, werewolf or demonborn, or enforce for the Cortex. Factions hold territory, PvP is on, and AI Champions compete in events alongside players.
