Is the Ritual Check for the Elosa summon just a willpower and cunning check or is the another way? Because if it is a two stat check, that really screws over some builds.

You also need to be a mage or have an arcanist background so as far as I'm aware the ritual is just for character with a standard black mage build.

I got it without the background or the class, but it still required the willpower and the cunning.

Yep. Being a Mage reduces the Cunning requirement by a bunch tho.

You technically only need one of the stats if you grabbed a drink at Garth's. Don't forget those buffs!
