Outside of the writing, what keeps you playing? Or caught your attention in the first place?

Since I'm bored and it's Saturday I figured I'd ask what people like about CoC2 and everything else made by the greater FenCo / Savin conglomerate.

For me it was the improved user interface and frankly the main blog. I like seeing the fanart showcases (even if I might not be into some of it) and it's near impossible for me to go back to older text based games with next to no user interface or where the creator only communicates infrequently.

That was one of the reasons I fell out of love with Flexible Survival.

Personally,
Some of the art for the NPCs' busts are pretty good, so that's one reason I still follow all of this - ever since they started making pixel busts for CoC1, and before they even had Holli or that absurd boss rush of an ending.
I can never say that writing isn't ever part of why I keep playing or reading these, and some of the descriptions for things and people are good references for my own writing (no, I don't write for anyone other than myself.)
The personalities and appearances of said NPCs are yet another reason - plenty of people make good characters, and some just hit my naughty spots juuuuuuuuust right.
And lastly, experimemting with the TFs for descriptions and potentially having commissions made for them are pretty tempting themselves for in-general stuff, in or out of the games.

Setting (or is it considered writing?). I've always been a huge fan of lore in games. In CoC2, a very rare type of the world - the Bronze Age and many interesting decisions in terms of plot and world-building. Plus I am currently studying at the history department with a mixture of psychology and I am constantly transferring my experience to the game. It's interesting to see what ideas the writers are implementing :D

Outside completionism or revisiting scenes...

Speedrunning (days counter) & No sleep/low level challenges

I'd focus on nurturing a sandbox element in the game. Think: OSRS good (sandbox), WoW bad (theme park)

Making new characters to see what's different and what changes dialogue depending on the race origin or class and looking through descriptions.

Level grinding, characters and art, and the eternal quest to bully Nakano.

I bitch about accuracy but combat is really fun and I like RPGs and love making numbers go up. The artwork is also really nice. Love me some visual aids.

In my case, I always fear I'm missing something for not bringing the "right" team!

Yea, I'm the same way I don't want to miss out on little story bits or interactions for certain characters so it motivates me to make new characters and try new team combinations.

I forgo variety in favor of Cait and Brienne or Azzy and Brienne. Cleave is superior to all reasons. The game could just be sexual cleave simulator and I'd still play it. Oh who am I kidding? It's already sexy cleave simulator for me.

This is a big one for me too. I think i have a full page of champs, all different races and origins and classes (and of course decisions) just to see what's different.

This might sound a bit weird given there are some limitations (at least with character creator) for this, but: I genuinely appreciate that this game is way more inclusive.

From the ability to choose pronoun preferences instead of having it tied with one's femininity score or genitals, to the acknowledgement of intersex people existing, trans people being present in-game in various forms (a lot of the marefolk count, as an example, though that is, admittedly, A Bit More Complicated Than Just Representation), intersex people existing in-game outside of hermaphroditic characters...

Yeah, it just feels better to play this game compared to CoC1 and what I remember my experiences with TiTS being like back in the day (which I should get back to eventually, given they did a lot of the ground work for these changes in the first place).

I unironically misread "cleave" as "cleavage" and yet it still makes sense. Well, not for me (I'll keep my mino stud, thanks!) but hey~

I wish the physical classes were less restrictive to build though. As a black mage all you really need is willpower and you can invest the other two points however you wish. As a warrior or thief you basically need to take Str/Dex/Cu to one extend or another.
