Hello again,

Just curious if the space ship contain is finished enough to discuss optimal ship setups or are they still mostly just place holders?

Still mostly just placeholders. For now, null_blank's suggestion stands: a Missile Turret (or two, if the ship has no pre-installed weapons and enough power generation) and a Power Core Tuner should be sufficient for most, if not all, fights, and fill the remaining slots with Advanced Crew Quarters to maximise the number of crew members you can have.

If that is the case, then is there any point in buying a new ship or should you hold on to your starter ship until you get the sidewinder?
Also, can i remove the fixed equipment or is that stuck in place?

Fixed equipment cannot be removed. That's the point of it being 'fixed'.
If you don't rescue Kiro or recruit Paige (or guess the Password), you can't get into Zheng Shi without a fight. I doubt the fight is winnable with the Casstech.
Even if you do, hijacking the Sidewinder causes you to lose your current ship. If you want to keep your Casstech, you need to buy a different ship from Vahn.
There's also the Star Viper encounter (which also likely can't be won with the Casstech), but I'm pretty sure you can just run away.

If you do hijack the Sidewinder and want to go back to Zheng Shi with it, I suggest installing 1 or 2 Hardened Systems. And weapons. The Sidewinder has no weapons, by default.

Not every escape attempt is successful. Is there a community suggested ship that is worth replacing the Casstech with?
Also, does your class type affect the performance of the ship? I know that your stats affect the ship performance but I don't see any info about if your class has any effect.

My favorite non-unique ship is the Aegis

Comes with a missile turret and shield booster

I typically use the KihaCorp Spearhead SS once I can afford it, but that's because a) I want more crew members and I haven't unlocked Uveto yet, so I can't just install Advanced Crew Quarters (and I want to avoid using the clowncar cheat for roleplaying purposes); b) none of the other options in that price range have as much Shields; and c) I don't want to lose the CassTech when I steal the Sidewinder. The Aegis MS-XI is probably the best ship you can buy, and I hear an unmodified one is capable of beating Zheng Shi's guards.

Nope, just your stats and whatever upgrades you've installed.
I don't get it. Could you explain that?
Meadow Steele is null_blank's main Steele, and she has tens of thousands of children. The joke is that the Advanced Crew Quarters null_blank listed (all 69 of them) are there to hold Meadow's kids and must thus be part of her nursery.

Ova'LEK has no fixed equipment and 6 slots (four of which can be weapons), iirc. Toss a Coil Cannon and/or your choice of Turret on it and fill the rest with whatever you think you need. Obviously, you're going to have to limit your crew size or use clowncar with this, but with the weapon(s) and smart use of the remaining slots, it should be good enough to either win or escape most fights
Alternatively, Clydesdale K7 has a fixed EM Turret and 14 slots (2 weapon hardpoints). Throw a second Turret (or a Coil Cannon) on it, add whatever defensive mods you prefer (pick shields OR armor, don't try to do both because it's unnecessary), give it a Power Core Tuner or two, a Capacitor Bank and/or Vampire, and fill the rest with Advanced Crew Quarters (or whatever floats your boat if you don't intend to have a large Crew on the ship). You can pretty easily make it an APC, so long as you keep the ship in good condition between fights.
Or you can use TiTsEd to mod to any ship you like into a war machine with ridiculous shields, armor, mod space, and storage. (I did that to the Ova'LEK since it had no fixed equipment and was already a fairly good ship to begin with.)
