Not wanting to be a debbie downer but playing this after the mod for some time feels like a huge leap back.

That's fine. But out of curiosity, in what way do you consider it a step back?

The custom starts in the mod are a huge thing, you have better layered menus, mojo costing moves are highlighted and the willpower system makes the fights a lot more interesting. And since the mod is always trying to incorporate the main game content into itself, there isn't even that for your version. The mod also has a lot of files to edit (clothes, special matches, ai behavior, custom characters...) and offers so much more freedom to what you can do. That's really the main thing: customization.

The willpower system makes the fights drag pretty severely, which is the main reason I've avoided it. However, I'll take a look at some of the UI improvements and json integration once I return to working on Night Games.

The main game is good for when the Mod gets too overwhelming, I think. I still play it, often enough, and it's much slower paced so it's less chaotic.

Although I still get tripped up when Angel turns into a succubus in the game instead of her OP goddess form in the mod.

I think it's really a preference thing. I used to get quite a few PMs from people who told me the mod sucks and I'm a neckbeard for adding in certain content in the mod version.

To each their own I guess. I still play the base game every time it's updated, and I still think it's more way more polished than the mod. Plus you can actually play for an hour without running into immersion breaking placeholders :D (sorry I still suck at writing)

Compare it to Skyrim : the base game is well-balanced, runs smooth, has no holes in it and still provides a great experience. Then when you tack a hundred or so mods onto it things end up neither especially sane nor stable, but it's fun whenit does work . (Even if some UI mods are just objectively better. Just saying.)

I do not necessarily agree, but I'm glad there are people who like the base version over the mod then. Would be a shame if the mod would eclipse the main game.

Guys, I don't usually post about mechanical changes before they are released.
However, with the new update closing in, I'm considering a fairly major change in the early game and wanted to discuss it a bit.

This is primarily motivated by a change I am fairly confident about. Sleight of Hand is currently makes the other stripping moves a bit pointless, so I am moving it from the Cunning skill list to a feat. However this means that there is almost no use for Mojo in the early game. I don't want to add more skills, since there are already so many. Instead I'm considering modifying some of the existing basic moves (Strip Top, Strip Bottom, Finger, Kick, Struggle, maybe Kiss) to have more powerful versions that consume Mojo.

For example, if the character doesn't have any Mojo, Strip Top will work normally. However, if the character does have the required Mojo, it will be replaced with Strip Top +, which has a higher success rate but consumes Mojo. Additionally, if anyone has any suggestions for how to signify the more potent version of the move (better than "+"), it would help.

What do people think about this change?

You don't need to know!
Well the main game and the mod have a different concept of mojo, however i always thought that the best way to use it was that the more mojo you have, the more effective should your moves/skills, so i think this is a good change to do, however the stronger versions of moves that didn't consume mojo shouldn't consume it there, but strong moves like sleight of hand and some others should cost a lot.

I say this because if you do so then people will have to choose between more powerful normal moves or the incredibly useful special moves (like counter, sleight of hand...).

The only thing that i have always wanted in the game apart from this is a "proficiency" for each move, because no one starts being a great kisser for example, however by kissing a lot one gets better so that it has less probability of fail and higher damage.

So the issue at the moment is that there are a shortage of Mojo consuming moves in the early game, so both characters will quickly max out there meter in any fight. I'm looking for ways to fix the Mojo economy by finding ways to consume it in the early game. I do like the idea of some moves being passively more effective when Mojo is high, so I may do something with that in addition to the above change.

Skill proficiency is an interesting idea, but it would require saving the proficiency level of each skill in the save file, which would cause a lot of save compatibility issues going forward. I also worry that it would discourage players from using newly unlocked skills, since they'll inevitably have higher proficiency in their core skills.

One thing I'd been thinking I'd like to see in the game is to change to a system where you buy skills with skill points, rather than getting specific skills at specific levels. Then there's skill trees (fondle breasts -> lick nipples) and skill upgrades. If you did this, then the early game mojo problem could be helped by letting the player choose a special move or something similar during character creation which could be their mojo move. Since those skills are far more expensive to purchase in skill points, or may have special requirements to unlock, competitors don't just have all those skills out the gate.

Well one way to "consume" mojo could be that if you are in a submissive position then each turn you will lose 10% of your max mojo, another one is adding an additional effect to some skills to reduce the enemy mojo.

However if you want people to need mojo then it is hard for early fights.

And about one of the points that you don't like about proficiency, if what you are scared about is people not using the new skills then you have it easy:

Dividing the proficiencies in 4:

-Oral proficiency
-Feet proficiency
-Hand proficiency
-Sex proficiency

That division would cover most moves and the rest would be under the "special move" category.

Actually, those 4 exact divisions are going to be in the next update. I added a bunch of new feats, including multiple tiers of each of those proficiencies (except Feet only has one tier since it's pretty rare). It's not the same as building the proficiency through repeated use, but it will let people specialize.

The problem I see with the proposed "Spend mojo to access higher-level moves" idea is that it's a negative feedback loop. Instead of situationally changing which moves are effective, it just makes mojo-generating moves more powerful. The faster you get mojo, the faster you spend it.

Here's an idea for a dynamic: Offensive actions are passively stronger at higher mojo. Defensive actions need to spend mojo to be reliably effective.

This would reinforce the idea of "mojo = momentum," and would also make it less of an issue when some characters get much stronger than others through repeated wins. A character can cruise along at max mojo until something goes wrong, but then even a low-level character who enters a fight close to max mojo can pose a challenge to a high-level character whose mojo is depleted. There's also the strategic question of when to spend mojo to "play it safe" and when to stay on the attack to try to keep your momentum.

At long last, the new update for Night Games is available to Patreon supporters. If you are a patron, head over to my Patreon page to download the update. If you aren’t a supporting yet, this may be a good time to start. In addition to AimlessArt’s great character sprites, we’ve done a ton of work on the UI. I think it looks great.

If you can’t or don’t want to support us on Patreon, this update will be available to everyone in about a week. Also, if you don’t mind some shameless shilling, we’ve recently added some higher Patreon tiers with rewards based on AimlessArt’s work.

Changelog:

  • Obviously there are now sprites for the 4 main girls
  • Changed Look and Feel to Nimbus
  • Implemented the keyboard shortcuts based on Nergantre’s and dndw’s mod.
  • Implemented skill button filtering, again based on the design in the mod.
  • Redesigned the main GUI’s color scheme based on some simple Usability guidelines. There should be less eye-strain as a result
  • Added Traits to the status panel with tooltips
  • Added Tooltips to the Attributes in the status panel describing what they do
  • Nerfed Defabricator. If opponent passes a speed check, it only destroys a single article of clothing.
  • Added an easy mode to character creation for people who want to win really easily
  • Pimp hand starting trait now causes Slap to be available at the start of the game.
  • Fixed an issue where flasks and potions appeared in command panel when unavailable
  • Science attribute now gives a bonus to all sex toys
  • Kicking while prone using Jewel’s Dirty Fighter perk now does 50% more damage
  • Leadership and Tactician traits now scale with Perceptions
  • Completely redesigned the Character Creation UI
  • Highlighted some lines in Aesop’s text to indicate tutorial information
  • Pain attacks that reduce arousal now do so based on total damage
  • Replaced Exhibitionist starting Trait with Streaker, which is more powerful
  • Buffed Bramaster and PantyPeeler traits by 30%
  • Slight of Hand is now attached to a Feat instead of unlocking with Cunning
  • Added day of the week to time display
  • Replaced Jewel’s placeholder Games scene.
  • Blowjob, Cunnilingus, Footjob, Paizuri, and Piston now have damage bonus at high Mojo
  • Kiss, Kick, Handjob, Finger, Strip Top, and Strip Bottoms now have EX versions that are more effective, but cost Mojo

  • There’s an option to skip the tutorial during player creation
  • Changed how all the advanced trainer costs are calculated. It’s now based on the total points you have in all advanced skills

Good News Everyone!

It’s been a week since the last Patron Update, so it’s now available to everyone. I’m celebrating with a small glass of cheap bourbon. This is the first update since AimlessArt joined the team, and if the Patreon is any judge people are quite excited about it.

If you were planning to support us on Patreon, you probably would have done so already to get the early update. However maybe you just found the game, or you were waiting to try the game before committing. Regardless, if you like the game please consider supporting us on Patreon so we can make it better. There are also some new Patron tiers, so take a look even if you are already a supporter.

Note that this version includes bugfixes I made during the week. So you may want to redownload the update even if you grabbed the Patron version already.

I'm pretty sure i found a bug, while I was in the quad some of the rooms wouldn't show like the dorms and student union. It would still say you can hear something in those rooms but you couldn't get there from the quad.

- Dark theme doesn't change the colors of the main text pane.
- I lost count of how many matches it took until 50, but I didn't make it. I gave up at 21 out of tiredness.
- 1-14 was very hard. 14-21 has been better but unstable.
- It's late so I might not have checked, but for debugging purposes, I'd like to see verbose and numbers mode.

Comparing my own stats at 18 to others:
"You want to know how the competition is doing? I can give you a breakdown on each of your opponents:"

Jewel: Level 18; Ki 16, Seduction 20, Perception 7, Power 25, Cunning 18, Speed 11,
Max Stamina 243, Max Arousal 154, Max Mojo 35.

Cassie: Level 16; Seduction 22, Perception 6, Arcane 9, Power 16, Cunning 24, Speed 10,
Max Stamina 167, Max Arousal 163, Max Mojo 37.

Angel: Level 19; Dark 34, Seduction 27, Perception 6, Power 14, Cunning 20, Speed 11,
Max Stamina 105, Max Arousal 255, Max Mojo 56.

Mara: Level 18; Seduction 24, Perception 7, Power 14, Cunning 23, Speed 11, Science 13,
Max Stamina 160, Max Arousal 166, Max Mojo 43.

It seems that growth for some characters is kinda too strong, especially if they have their own stat, like Angel does. At one level higher she has many more points total in attributes and in mojo and arousal.

Leveling is slow, but I think what would make it better is content. Playing this has reminded me of things that get bugged out of the mod, so I'll be heading back over to hopefully restore and suggest new stuff. I actually also like the text additions for several places. Keep it up.

As for the interface, I don't like the status and inventory sections. While I love that there's art- it doesn't 100% reflect the clothing and positional state of the character. In line pictures adds clutter to text in large font.

Hey TSB:

Gave it another play:

- Dark Mode does not turn the text pane dark
- Dark mode doesn't turn the buttons dark
- The button pane does not extend fully horizontally.

Some alternative feedback: Having played both the mod and your full game version, Silver Bard, I think your full game, though it has less content, its much better written and more consistent in quality. Its got significantly better balance and doesn't have crazy stuff that breaks immersion. I do think there could be some UI improvements and maybe an entropy block on control (if you get stunned once, you're less likely to get stunned again for awhile, and if you get stunned twice in close succession, you're even less likely to get stunned the third time) to reduce the frequency of bullshit permacontrol destroying player agency, but even in the mod these things are a work in progress.

I've been a big fan of your work since the start and hope you keep up the quality. Your updates do a lot to improve the mod as well, so even if people love the modded version more, the mod is greatly improved by your own work and would be impossible without your base game, so keep it up either way!

Hi everybody,
There's a new and quite large update for Night Games. It's currently available for all Patreon supporters. There's also a version with extra art for higher tier Patreon backers.
There's a new opponent, new skills for every advanced attribute, and some new scenes. It will be publicly available for everyone in a week, but if you don't want to wait, it's not to late to become a supporter.

  • Carry and Fly now deal pleasure when initiated, identical to Fuck
  • Fixed a bug that was preventing Samantha's Professional upgrades from working with Lick Pussy and Finger
  • Fixed a bug where the Dirty Fighter perk's damage bonus wasn't applying for players

Do you have the most recent bugfix? The bugs in the initial release caused a lot of random crashes. If you do have the newest bugfix, which NPCs have you unlocked?
