New Class

Hey @Savin. Are there any plans to implement a new archer class? We have perks for archery and even have a background for it. All that seems to be missing is an actual class and maybe an ultimate.

Does this mean no over-arching classes, or does that include the prospect of further customisation through sub-classes or something similar?

I can see why you wouldn't want any new classes, since the current system allows for massive flexibility. You could play a pure healer, a pure physical attack, a pure evade tank, an agile damage dealer, a two-handing barbarian, an arcane spellcaster, a summoner spec, a paladin type...the list goes on. Your 'class' just gives you particular perks and that's it.

I love that sort of flexible customisation, just so it's clear.

.

Yeah, that's what I wanted to ask in the other thread that was mentioned, but I wrote it badly. Or in another sense: Wll there be more trainers like (the cat lady with the wyvern venom addiction, forgot her name) that can give you new abilities?

I think you'll be able to meet new trainers for skills related to the god you sold your soul to. Like when you give your soul to Keros and become a kitsune, you can go to someone (can't remember who) to learn kitsune skills you couldn't before like blue flame blade, so i'm thinking it'll be exactly like that when the content to give your soul to become a valkyrie for Lumia comes out. Although to be honest, there're plenty of light related skills already, so if that does end up happening, i'm curious on what these skills are going to be.

You can actually learn a Monk skill from Jin-Jin at the Gym, but alas that is presently as far as Monk powers go. I’m kinda bummed that no new classes means the Monk class I’ve heard was being planned is just a set of skills now. But at least we get the powers. :p

I mean, at this point, your class is just another background for scene variation no? doesn't really matter the class you have as long as you have the stats and skills to make it work.

No more classes. You can make your own :p

There might be trainers or ways to get groups of powers (like the kitsune, or the archer) that have a theme to them, but that's all they'll be: a set of powers.

Functionally, Monks have always been Rogues that fight with quarterstaffs or barehanded anyway, only with less dirty tricks and backstabbings. You can easily start with Thief and become a sort of Pseudo-monk once you get access to class trainers and Jin-Jin, I did. xD

To further hammer my point home, my "Monk" Champion is actually based on a DnD concept I made with the Way of Shadow Monk and Glasya/Dispater Tiefling, that's able to compete with any Rogue on the sneak-o-meter and kick ass too.
