Making Your Mark

Hello all, I was just curious about a few aspects of the game since I believe I've gotten through most of what is currently available.

At the start of the game your father talks about you venturing off into unexplored space in the rush to make your mark and find cool things to get the company money. So far the only things that kind of touch on this are the grey goo on Tarkus and the deposit of stuff behind the spore queen on Myrellion. I was wondering if there were any plans to implement more discoveries or resource based 'claims' to help you show the company you are good at what you do (exploring space and making babies like your dad). All the planets I visit feel very settled in their own ways and it would be nice to get off the beaten path and find an asteroid or planet with resources we had to scout with no "safe" colony area, calling in Steele corp to set up a mining operation or science base to find cool new transformative substances. For instance there is the tree on Mhen'ga that you can get the paste which will shrink things, that seems like a good explorable opportunity for a 'natural' shrinker that can make money for the company. Is exploration and exploration something planned for the road ahead?

Every time I feel like my ship is over crowded (I know upgraded ships are somewhere in the future and will eventually have crew limits) I want to dismiss crew but the dialog makes me feel like I'm telling them to F off and go hide in a hole where I can't see them. Are there plans to have a cabin or home for them to live in later on where they can maybe work or live while your out doing your thing?

Will there be a roadmap that shows planned features?

Thanks.

I can't speak to most of that... but as for the crew:

I believe that Anno restarts the Steele Tech outpost in Novahome if you evict her.
Most the the crew members will go to Tavros. Azra and Kase go back to Tavros. You can also send Bess/Ben there. I think Reaha goes to the nursery in Tavros to work the milking station. I believe that if you have sub Sera, she also goes to the nursery. You have to be on Uveto to kick Pippa out. Celise, Nova and the Siegwulf don't take up traditional crew spots... neither does Yammi for that matter.

I haven't had the heart to see what happens to Yammi if you try to kick her out.

That is decidedly not what he does. He sends you to find a bunch of magic space mcguffins he sent ahead of you. Anything you do to help Future Steele Tech is gravy.

"if you want to take over the company, you’re going on the planet rush!”
“I’ve arranged to have a few dozen probes sent through the gates once they open."

To me those lines tell me I need to explore new planets during the rush to find the probes. Why would you go on the planet rush but not visit new places and stake claims? All of the supporting dialogue speaks to me in that way. Your father makes subtle hits at his own grand adventure and how it made him his fortune and you must now do the same as he, whilst also finding the probes. The probes are the incentive to do the rush and explore. It confuses me a little that the probes end up in places that have been settled for a while, even though the gates only opened two weeks or so before you set out.

At least that's what I get out of the writing.

Mhen'ga has only been settled by Rushers for about a month when you first arrive, and all of the other probe planets Steele goes to have significant indigenous populations that were there long before the gates opened, so there being a safe area on the planet isn't at all unusual.

Because your father was an ancient and dying eccentric bajillionaire who wanted to subject you, the heir who was literally conceived just for the position, to go on some wild scavenger hunt because he started his megacorp by that means and he thinks it's to your benefit to emulate him. Unless you find something really nice and new, everything you find is just small potatoes to the galaxy-spanning megacorp that you are trying to inherit and ultimately an excuse to just give you some money without just giving you money.
