Is anyone else disappointed with the conclusion to the Khor minos siege, culminating with the 'twist' ?

First off, I want to say that everything leading up to it was absolute fantastic writing as always, good on you, Savin. That's not sarcasm. I really enjoyed reading all the exposition and learning about the intricacies with all the characters which is rare for me to say, but then again I didn't have to worry about cumming my brains out to extremely hot scenes to prevent me from using my brain for a bit to progress further.

I loved the choosing the different groups to tackle different types of threats as it reminded me of much I appreciated Gwynquest (hope I remember her name right) but sadly I still can't get over how disappointed I felt when the last encounter happened Calise being Kasyra, and the 'real' Calise being the main Demon Commander leading the demons

But, frankly, I enjoy too much of the game itself to really not have that matter too much to stop playing and enjoying the other parts of the game, I just wanted to see if other people shared my thoughts of that story choice. It's not my story, it's Savin's, and that's my take on it. I wanna know yours though!

Might be the different PoV, as I romance Kasyrra. It didn't disappointment me at all (reason in spoiler), and Blood Knight's indentity - makes sense as it seems Savin makes this character more pernament one rather than just dungeon boss.

Both the player and the PC can know that Calise is Kass before the siege, so it wasn’t a twist for me. Keep in mind this is coming from a PC that romanced her, so some scenes might be less clear if you don’t do that.

During Ring quest there are heavy hints it is Kas, posessive behaviour, ring as engagement without relantionship, when she is stabbed she start swearing Ma before doing Velun swear (Marae is god from previous game and Kas world) - from this moment I, as player, was sure she is Kas.

Then during feast you can confront her and from that point also PC knows she is Kas and all Calise visits change as well reflecting that.

well shit, knowing that players can draw a conclusion Kas is Calise before then adds a lot of context and practically solves my disappointment. I romance Kas pretty much up until the Khor minos siege. I think the interactions I had with her was the winter palace area with Ryn (and then by extension, Alyssa) and then her private waystone area. I will admit I immediately wrote off Calise because she didn't interest me as sort of the gung-ho paladin (think the classical lawful good paladin). Also ever since I found out that being soulbound quite literally forces and locks you to rival with Kas, I stopped really caring about pursuing anything more than a, well, 'we had something good, but now we dont anymore and i resent you for that' mutual thing. thank you for giving me that context though. I'm the type of player that only has one character and very rarely does alternate choices/paths (and this game enables that for me since the choices are rather obvious for the things I like and what I find hot, etc etc) so hearing your POV is excellent to alleviate what I once saw negative be a bit more understanding on how it's structured.

perhaps with going through it again (now that i had sleep) i will be able to follow along a bit better and notice those details. i'm sad to admit i haven't played much of coc1 beyond some scenes but that's pretty cool to hear too.

thank you for your reply, and i'm sorry i never really elaborated on why i felt disappointed, i was more confused and was like, ok so why all of a sudden are we pulling this sort of stunt that i feel like can be overused in media i've seen before like a copout. but perhaps it was just me and retention issues (go figure)

PC can only know that Calise is Kas if they are romancing Kas during the Feast of Heroes, since that's the only time she will reveal herself. If you aren't in a romance with Kas you can only learn that Calise is a demon. It isn't hard for the Player to work it out though, since a certain conversation hints heavily at Calise being Kas.
"Not the demons. No, a demon. The most powerful of their race assailed the cathedral personally. She meant to loot its reliquary...
...The silly demon thought [The Ring of Fate] was in the cathedral, but what was there was a facsimile, a hollow attempt by later generations of priests to duplicate the ring's effects...
...Still, I'm ever so curious what it is that the demon wanted with it. What could a corrupted, soulless being want with a ring that safeguards souls from corruption? I wonder what she's done with it now that she has it"...
..."Who knows? But perhaps it's for the best that the demon has the false ring."

(At the point the conversation occurs, it's been established that Calise wears a Replica of the Ring of Fate. I believe this conversation is also what is needed to accuse Calise of being suspicious at the end of FoH, which is what leads to the "Calise is a Demon/Kas" conversation. The most interesting part of the stuff I cut out is that Kasyrra accidentally freed something that was trapped in the temple, and it's heavily implied that it was another Wraith. First Lumia and then Tira. If we go to Tychris and Nareva is also keeping a Wraith in her basement, I'm going to go insane.)

There's a few other hints beforehand, like Calise surviving a Poison that should be able to take down a Minotaur (hinting at her being a Demon, and a very powerful one at that), but FoH was the biggest one. Similarly, there was a long time suspicion of the Blood Knight being the real Calise, but I believe that one was dependent on datamining the fact that the Blood Knight was the character equipped with Ancient-Hewer and not "Calise".
