Artist preference, a lot of the art in the game isn't entirely a 1:1 comparison with the description and since there isn't really references for them to work on but rather descriptions it doesn't always fully equate as it's up to the author's own style and expression. I believe the author also will make suggested adjustments as the work is being done.
