The world of Castria has been at peace for eons, the kingdom of Trinia being no exception. Recent events have shown just how fragile that peace is, as Zolon Adair, the royal wizard and one of the most powerful spellcasters on the planet, has stolen the first part of the Book of Rosha from the royal vault! Bitter at perceived slights and filled with hateful ambition, he seeks to gather the other five parts in order to open a portal to Kolasi, the infernal realm where the eponymous demon queen and her followers were imprisoned by the gods so long ago. If he succeeds, the world will enter an age of bloodshed and darkness the likes of which it has never seen. Seeking to stop this nightmare from coming to pass, King Maxim Seler IV, the ruler of Trinia, has summoned a group of adventurers to the palace. It is hope that they can stop Zolon before it is too late. If they succeed, whatever they desire they shall have. Fail and payment will be the least of their worries. Will they prevail and prove that good is as eternal as the sun? Or will they show that, in the end, darkness shall always throw back the light?

This rp will be completely narrative based as that seems to work the best on here. I'm looking for 3-5 players to join. Feel free to create whatever fantasy character you want, the only limitations are that it must be good or at least morally gray and it must fit the setting. If you join, all I ask is that you post at least once every other day. Below, I will include a simple template for a character sheet. Thank you for reading and I look forward to hearing from you!

Name: Odrosa Adair

Species: Dark Elf

Sex: Female

Role: Spellcaster

Appearance: (credit: Art of Cithis from Dungeon Meshi by chikoinochi)sample_64f9c154e6242881b1d96b66f9eb22e8.jpg

Personality: Shy, empathetic, calm, cool-headed, doting, formal, polite

[While Odrosa seems very stiff with her decorum upon first meeting, that is simply due to the fact she's terribly shy and sheltered around new people. Do not let her intense golden gaze fool you, this is her first time really out on the field. Or socializing, for that matter. Despite her social awkwardness, she's fiercly protective over all her allies and worries about their wellbeing akin to how a first time mother would due to her inherent empathy. Don't be shocked if she wipes food off of your face with a handkerchief and asks you if you've eaten enough today, she's a bit of a motherly worry wart.]

Abilities: Odrosa specializes in offensive and defensive magic arts. Wards, destruction spells, curses. Spells with some bite. She isn't very gifted at healing nor support, unfortunately, more so making sure her enemies befall the greatest harm. Even with the safety of wards, unlike most mages she's also good at dodging to a degree. Moving away from attacks with swift, practiced grace.

Background: Odrosa was born from the lowest rung one could be in the kingdom of Trinia. The Dark Elves. Known for their treachery and being career criminals more often than not, many view them as parasites regardless of a recent peace treaty signaling the supposed end of being at eachother's throats. Not all of them are equal in the regard of morals, yet Odrosa's parents were no exception. Abandoning her at the young age of 4, left to wander and starve. Until she was found by the wizard Zolon Adair. Taking pity on the child and taking her in, despite protests from king Maxim himself.

He raised her as his own, with empathy and love as an adoptive daughter. Taught her almost everything she knew about magic, too. Raising her in the royal court as a respectful, and gentle person, no matter the odd gaze's and scowls his peers would throw their way.

So how exactly had it gone so wrong...?

At the age of 24 is when Zolon told her of his...ambition.

She was horrified.

Her father, her teacher, detailing the extent of his madness to her with fanatical glee, begging Odrosa to join him. Promising immeasurable power and a more accepting world.

A world filled with the most vile of demons and delights.

Perhaps he had raised her too well.

She had denied his horrid invitation, the both of them leaving with feelings of the deepest betrayal. Odrosa running off to relay his insane plan to the king.

While at first they weren't sure what to think of her words, after proper confirmation she had earned their trust. Going on her own volition to stop her former teacher...her once father, from ending the world as they knew it.

Name: Orestina Zefira

Species: Half-Elf

Sex: Female

Role: Ranged/Support(CC)

Appearance: Orestina sits at 5'3" with a lean toned build. She has moderately tanned complexion, shoulder blade length auburn hair often tied into either a simple ponytail or single braid and blue-green eyes.

Personality: Headstrong, feisty, energetic, passionate, driven, competitive

Abilities: Orestina is a practiced hand at skills required of a hunter such as archery, tracking and navigating difficult terrains. She also possesses knowledge on finding and processing materials used to create poisons and poultices alike.

Background: Zefira's start in life was, as many would consider, average. Born the daughter of an Elven huntress and Dwarven craftsman, she found herself inheriting her mother's wild spirit and father's passion and drive for any task she undertook.

This would eventually lead her to follow in her mother's footsteps, training under her as a hunter. With each new skill learned, each quarry felled, the rush of honing herself and her skills alongside the thrill of the hunt would lead her to the path of the adventurer.

After several years of traveling and making a somewhat modest name for herself as a hunter and adventurer alike, she received the summons to the palace and jumped at the chance to both challenge and prove herself in new ways.

A-well, a-well, a-well! Look who’s trying to inject some life back into the old subforum. Class of [checks notes] 2022? Really? Feels like ages ago... [ahem] back at it again. Here’s hoping this one takes off!

Anyway, it always takes me a long-ass time to get a character sheet written to my liking, so naturally I had to make two. Just pick whichever one seems like it'll fit better:

Name: Sir Alec Durant

Species:
Human

Sex:
Male

Role:
Knight

Appearance:
A haggard man who has started to round the curb into middle age, though his fair hair and rough beard have yet to show any signs of fading. His face is disfigured, once-handsome features having been worn away by years of conflict. One steely-grey eye casts a judgmental gaze over the world at large. The other eye is blind, rendered useless by a disfiguring scar that runs across half of his face.

His hardly ever takes off his armor - a well-forged and well-used ensemble of steel and mail – unless it is absolutely necessary. He even sleeps in it.

Personality: Stern, somber, and driven in a way that sometimes comes across as chivalrous but usually just seems needlessly grim. Sir Alec is the sort of person who takes “duty before pleasure” to an irrational degree. He likes to believe that this dedication to diligence makes him a better person, but it’s really just made him miserable.

Abilities: Decades of experience in battle, copious knowledge of first-aid and fieldcraft, a rudimentary understanding of regional geography, and an incorruptible faith in his principles, for better or for worse. Sir Alec favors the sword, though he can quite capably wield anything with at least one edge.

Background: Sir Alec Durant has been thanklessly defending the people of Castria for many years. The son of an impoverished baron, Alec was sent away to a knightly order at a young age, where he could be educated and provided for as would befit a child of his station. There, the knights proved to be rather efficient at hammering out the… deficiencies… they found in their charges. As a boy, Alec learned obedience and humility; in adolescence, he learned temperance and cautiousness; in maturity, he learned justice and endurance.

When his lessons were finally complete, Alec set out on his own. Over the decades, Sir Alec has built a reputation as a chivalrous knight-errant several times over, though he has refused to receive any accolades or rewards for his work. “A man should not require gratitude,” he says, “simply for doing as he ought to.”

Sir Alec’s assistance in recovering the Book of Rosha is not entirely righteous in its motive. At forty-one years old he has begun to reflect on his life, what it has been, and what he can expect it to be in the future. Ultimately, he wants this mission to be his final service to Castria – one last charge against the forces of destruction from which Alec himself will not return.

In my head, he sounds like Eltharion from Total Warhammer

Name: Ketri of Eichenwald

Species: Beastman (Vulpine)

Sex: Female

Role: Warrior

Appearance: Tall by the standards of Trinian women, standing nearly as high as a man. Her most noticeable features are her bestial ears: triangular things placed unnaturally high on her scalp. Long brown hair falls from their base straight down to her shoulders, framing a face that might be described as ‘striking’ or ‘attractive’ by a good-natured liar. Her skin – what little can be seen of it – is unremarkably fair in tone and bereft of any noticeable scars or blemishes, but her dark brown eyes stare back with a little too much intensity for most.

Clad in plates of iron and pelts of beasts, bearing a terrible two-handed axe, she appears like some barbarian marauder from a darker age – an image undercut slightly by the bushy brown tail that pokes out from under her waist wrap. Those that bother to pay attention can figure out her mood simply by watching its movements.

Personality: Taciturn and withdrawn, at least to start. Ketri is deeply uncomfortable with outside customs and makes little effort to emulate them. She seems to operate on a different wavelength to most, finding an odd humor in morbid sights and lashing out at the most innocuous comments.

Abilities: Brutally cunning, and cunningly brutal when the situation calls for it. Ketri is a vicious fighter by nature, but surprisingly holds some knowledge of her people’s shamanistic rituals. These are elaborate and risky procedures that take time to prepare and cast, so she will only use them if she feels it is absolutely necessary.

Background: Ketri emerged from the high mountain passes only a few days after Zolon’s disappearance – displaced from the forests of her homeland by circumstances tied to the magician’s passing. She had actually come to Trinia to beseech their help against him: it was not her intention to get roped into “saving the world” or some such quest, but she had few other options, none of which were particularly desirable.

The details of her family and culture are secrets that Ketri keeps close to her chest (mostly because I don’t want to overstep TheIrishOtaku’s authority), but it can be inferred that she was at least related to some prominent local figure, and that her people were quite accustomed to conflict and hardship.

Hey, great to talk to you again and glad to see you want to join, it has indeed been a while to say the least! While I love both characters, I'd say go with Sir Alec Durant!

Yeah sure I'll bite.

Name: Z'ar Navnik

Species: Half Dragon

Sex: Male

Role: Brawler/Pugilist/Monk

Appearance: Standing well over 8ft tall Z'ar is broad and bulky, stretch marks from a growth spurt still apparent over his body. Head to toe in green and black scales, two crimson pupils give a patient stare over his maw.

A set of tattered blue robes sits pinned around his waist, a large spiked tail snaking out from a gap in the back of them. Shouldering a set of large furred prayer beads a bandolier of metal flasks sits strapped around his chest.

Dracomonk2_1.1.pngadopt_38_pre.png

Personality: Easygoing, quiet, and patient Z'ar is the sort to prefer one word when two will do. His experiences have left him with a very mellowed countenance despite how often he seems to drink from his flasks. Often in favor of stopping to enjoy a moment or experience, he is very slow to anger save for a select few occasions.

Abilities: A pugilist by trade, Z'ar possesses extraordinary athleticism and hand to hand skills allowing him to perform leaps and flips to boggle the mind and for his fists to be as deadly as any blade. Despite his size he is surprisingly nimble on his feet, capable of dashing hundreds of feet in the matter of seconds. From his meditations and training he has a well honed insight, often able to pick up on what makes someone tick.

Background: Z'ar grew up in the Rural corners of Castria, in a backwater and rural town far from the comforts and amenities of the cities. Such a place was not welcoming to him even as a child; whether it was due to his appearance, his unknown parents, or some unfathomable 3rd reason he never knew. Combined with the dirty overcrowded orphanage he grew up in, it left everyday as a struggle for tommorow. Such adversity made him resilient, tough; but it was only a matter of time such adversity left him dying in the gutters. Fortunately it seemed as if the universe had decided he had struggled enough as he found himself saved by a passing by monk, helped back to their monastery where he would spend the remainder of his adolescence.

The years in the monastery proved to be kind to Z'ar, at least in comparison to the streets. Steady meals, training, and meditation let him figuratively and literally flourish; now leaving him as a well practiced martial artist as a young adult. His physical instruction now complete he set off to wander and experience Castria in it's whole, relishing in the freedom he thought he would never have. From the glitz and glamour of the cities to bandits on the muddy roads he always took the chance to stop and help those in need of it should they cross his path, never staying in one place for long.

After years of traveling and helping strangers from city to city and road to road he had established a reputation for himself, though one he was only ever vaguely aware of. From this a summons from the king had found there way to him and not one to turn away the experience to see a castle firsthand he now finds himself traveling towards Trinia, ready to relish in the new experiences on the horizon.

Is this based on particular something?
