(oh my god I was just thinking about the completed docs like Maki and Ahi and if they were going to get implemented but i didn't want to start a shitstorm)

I'm serious when I say you're one of my favorite writers,LukaDoc, your characters are charming and lovable. I'm going to miss your work in these games, but I understand your decision, and I hope the best on your future endeavors.

As for Makius, I really do think he should be implemented into the game, I uhm... might have saved a copy a long time ago when I thought he was never going to get implemented, I really do want him in the game ):
I also have Ahi's document but I don't know if the author is still around? As far as I know, Ahi was completed and ready to be put in the game.
(I drew fanart of both Makius and Ahi and I was afraid of posting them because I didn't want to cause unnecessary drama)

How many male companions are there in TiTS? And fuckable males in general? Especialy for m/m... ?
There's not too many males in TiTS compared to the number of both females and chicks-with-dicks combined. The wiki hasn't been updated in forever so I can't get an exact number. Probably barely 60 something at this point or idk.. maybe even less, but that's counting the male NPCs AND hostiles, though I can't give a direct number altogether. But there's almost 2 or 3 times more feminine characters than those that are dudes.

If that ain't a stick in the mud for ya yet, almost all feminine characters are sexable to some degree in TiTS, while only little less than half the few males are sexable. So you're gonna be very limited in terms of sexual content if you're wanting to play say, a gay guy or a straight girl.

In terms of companions, a.k.a people you can recruit? Literally only one. And that is from a choice of letting you choose it's gender in the first place. The other 6 are all pure female, and it doesn't seem like it's gonna change anytime soon for a long while unless someone manages to actually write a crew member that isn't a chick.

So yeah, the male/female ratio in TiTS is pretty unfair imo. I go to FoE nowadays for the m/m stuff since it's more spread out in terms of appeal when it comes to sexual preference.

I guess nobody will leave TiTS in favour of CoC2, but I have to say I am hyped as I preffer a fantasy setting over monster-girl filled sci-fi.

I think CoC2 will be more monster girl oriented than TiTS.

Doing a cursory look of Savin's doc(which seems to be missing generic characters), here is a rough list of character:
  1. Males: 24 sexable, 16 non-sexable.
  2. Females: 56 sexable, 18 non-sexable.
  3. Maleherm: 1 sexable.
  4. Dickgirl/Femherms/Shemales/Forced Traps: 31 sexable, 4 non-sexable
  5. Genderless: 1 non-sexable
  6. "Cuntboys with tits": 2 non-sexable
  7. Interchangable gender
There are 7 followers in total, 6 are female and the last one is Bess/Ben which is of interchangeable gender.

Pretty much this, with the extra problem of most males characters being located on New Texas.

I think makius doc biggest problems is that it's too big(standing at 217 pages) and the format was made before Gedan did the proper guidelines, so it's a little off and lot larger than it could be. I think it should be broken down into different docs/expansions and the format getting a redoing, which to be honest I could do, but I kinda don't want to that without permission and even if I got it, it would still be laborious and take a while to finish.

Could you share that art? Not in this thread but put it in the art forums?

@Lashcharge I don't mind if you want to tweak the format. As with pretty much all of my projects. I went all out on Maki with whatever vague idea I had of how followers were going to work at the time. So yeah.

EDIT: The only thing I'm going to ask of you is that if you tweak Makius, that you preserve the original doc as it is. So you'd have to make a copy before messing with it.

@Xiokir And I don't mind if people post art in this topic. It was derailed a while ago anyway. I take the fact that people took the time to do art of my characters as a badge of honor.

Well I can't exactly mess with the original doc if I don't have comment privileges. :p

Either way I made a copy and have begun to alter it, but I kinda need your feedback on some things. I'll send you a PM.

Alright, my internet is finally reset, so I can share my own thoughts on the matter.

Like LD, I feel that after so long a hiatus without any word from Alder, FoE does not seem likely to ever be revived. I have waited patiently as long as I could bring myself to have hope, but in the end, I must face facts. I deeply enjoyed FoE and I was loving the world I was having a chance to build, but I cannot simply sit idle and wait for something to happen that's not going to.

As much as I want to be proven wrong... I don't think that's going to happen. So, with great sadness, I will be canceling the projects I had planned for FoE and moving on with my life.

Dang man, I really liked both of your works, you and LD really brought your characters to life in the game and really made it worth playing, giving them both good smut AND good character development (Which I always loved in written characters, especially in porn games which is hard to really mix right) and everything. I always spent more time having fun with them than anything else. They had a certain charm to them the other text games didn't have that had me coming back to them and the game each and every time.
Sucks that FoE doesn't seem like it's gonna be getting out of what is probably forever a limbo at this point, because stuff like the lagomorph story and whatnot was my absolute favorite quest to do in the game. Irdk who was the one that wrote Ophelia and Roa exactly, I think Alder did, though I did have high hopes for those two being expanded on and recruiting them as was planned in the future when.. if the game got back onto it's feet since they were my most favorite NPCs in the game.. but even as just a player/fan I'm losing that hope.

However given the circumstances with the game and everything involving it, it seems like a reasonable choice. Despite being rather hard to swallow for me, I really do wish the two of you best of luck with both of your writing endeavors. Hopefully we'll be able to see more of your creations at some point in the future.

That's really depressing tbh, and it's sad to see a potential game grinding to a halt. I hope you two find good luck in your new endeavors, and hopefully one day Alder might find some motivation to continue working on FoE.

@Quiet Browser and @LukaDoc

There a possibility that in the future if FoE ever comes out of hiatus mode that you would be willing to jump back on the project? I'm just curious of course.

By the time anything happens here I'll be working on something else.
I like to commit to the games and projects I support, get invested in them and do my best.
But with the reception to my leaving and already expressed concerns, I do not think the odds of coming back are high enough to bet on.

Well I personally hope those odds are in our favor, because it'll certainly be that to have you in again.

Well, I imagine if you head start your own project it could be hosted here much the same. Probably.

Honestly, I don't think we need another hRPG, since there's already a crapload of them, and most of them die/get abandoned early on no matter the best intentions and the skills of its creators.

I think joining an already existing project (which are many) is a better option. In fact, just a few days ago I was thinking "what would happen if, instead of trying to make games solo, those guys would just team up and start a large-scale project". Not to mention, writing skills are not enough when you need to code the game, design its systems, implement them and then balance them. There are tons of games from great coders who can't write a good scene if their life depended on it, or very good animators/graphics artists who struggle with creating working, competent design.

Starting a new project would work IMHO only if you'd have at least 4 other developers with you, each responsible for something they're good at, and at least two of those would be able to implement changes and scenes into the game engine itself. Otherwise, if those are solo or solo lead projects, you get things like FoE which was very well written, very promising and then got put on hold because the only person able to develop the core mechanics further got burned out. No ill feelings towards Alder here, burnout is something normal and acceptable, but in such sitations you see how teamwork is essential for developing video games, even small-scale text-based games like this. You can't just let the entire team effort of so many people be dependent on one person in group.

@Farlun Yes, I agree with you, which is the main reason I'm not jumping straight to just making my own RPG project and so on. It would be great if people banded together to do something amazing, but sadly that is not going to happen. Most people can't make concessions or are unwilling to debate the core concepts and systems behind their creation.

Right now I'm reaching out to Xadera, if they get back to me, we'll see what working on Nimin is like. Otherwise I'm putting together a design doc for my own game, which is not going to be an RPG in the same vein as FoE. I know my limits and I know very well that I'm simply not competent enough to make an RPG with battles and so on that works well without some clunky interface to drag it down. I want it to be easy and acessible, so I'm looking into platforms that give me just that. If I could get a competent programmer, one with the knowhow and the drive to work on it, then I would attempt to create a proper hRPG.

In either case, I've approached QB about making Cat Dynasty, as was originally envisioned, outside of the confines of FoE. That is simple enough that I can feasibly put it together without much effort. We'll see how he feels about it once the wounds have healed.

Good writers are lost when games die. C'est la vie. Farewell Cap'n, and may the wind always be at your back.

Because it's really fucking uncomfortable with you're inhaling, and you get the gust of cold wind that hit's you in the face at the same time.

"Redscale's adventure" by Istaran could always use some more writers.

Started playing it recently and while it needs a fair share of ironing out (not exactly a fan of the tactical combat mode and much of the unoptimised micromanagement), it had a ton of potential indeed.

Well, if alder would allow it, I am sure people would love to have the source code and start to make mods/expansions.

The source for FoE has been open from the beginning, and can be found here: https://github.com/AlderArts/foe

I'm not necessarily going to actively support any modding/expansion projects, but I'm not in any way preventing people from creating and sharing such mods.

@The Observer What about you, Tobs? You hanging in there, or have you called it quits as well?

I am on hiatus with ~500 pages of backlog content, and working on The Project That Will Not Be Named until further notice.

Well, if alder would allow it, I am sure people would love to have the source code and start to make mods/expansions.

If people are going to do this, I hereby officially forbid and disavow anyone making modded content with my work.
