Is the closure of public submission final?

No.

I'd really LIKE to but time's really not on her side.
Is there anything in particular that's keeping you from writing Shar/Shaedra/The Harpy Zone or do you just not really like the characters and concepts anymore?

Oof. Here is hoping you find the time to get to it, I've always liked Shar as a character and felt she deserved as much attention as her sister. Also the idea of making the champion get Zhara and Shar reconcile has been a want for me for a while.

I agree. Actually, after reading Zharas talk I find her disdain for her sister a bit much. She is a (relatively) nice gal other wise.
Though I think if we do manage to reconcile them, Zhara is going to demand to put an egg into Shar. :D

Writing other things. Everything a writer writes means they aren't writing something else with that writing time.

I feel like maybe I didn't word what I was really trying to ask correctly here.

Closing community submissions after a certain point makes sense, since at any point people can submit any number of projects that are doomed to never be complete before the end of the game as we've seen repeatedly over its lifespan, but is there a reason you're limiting yourself from just finishing out the remainder of your ideas and ending the game afterwords? It seems you've got an internal hard deadline, and I guess I'm just curious as to why.

They've been working on this game for a WHILE and Savin has said they are ready to start working on other projects. Don't really blame them. I would 100% love to see as much expanded on as possible, but sometimes you gotta draw the line.

I don't want to spend the rest of my life working on the same game. CoC2's already past the initial projection for game completion.

Or, to wit, I've been working full time professionally in smutgame dev for 12 years and have 0 shipped games under my belt. Shit's frankly depressing!

As sad as I'll be to see it finally wrapped up because I think I could enjoy new content with these characters and the world for a very long time without ever regretting my continued donation youve more than earned my excitement and customer loyalty for whatever comes next, and I suppose the conclusion of COC II.

Does the first statement from Savin's public submission closure post also apply to the second statement:

1. "If you are a writer with at least one submission already coded into the game"

2. "We will not be accepting new characters wholesale, but expansions to existing characters and plotlines are still very much of value, particularly abandoned characters from writers no longer in the community."

By which I mean, is it only the writers who've submitted any expansion before closure the one's qualified/allowed to expand 'abandoned' characters in-game?

Out of curiosity, what's the oldest submission in the backlog, and how long has it been there?

Probably Shade's goo TF which's been languishing since April 2023.

Yes.

If you don't have anything in game right now (or you have something in the review queue that's about to get accepted) you aren't getting any writing into CoC2; please wait for Next Game.

I think what's likely to happen is that we'll make a [Cutting Room Floor] mode (turned "off" -- ie the content is hidden -- by default) that all the shit that doesn't meet standards gets shoved into. So it'll still be there if you really want it, but it'll clear up the experience by a lot for the vast majority of players.

We can (if necessary) then add [Remove Content] buttons on top of that for encounters so you can tailor the experience a bit more if you choose to play with that mode on.
I'm really glad to hear we are getting a cutting room floor mode, cause I've been squirrelling away the public updates in fear of something I like being cut with now way back.
Does that mean we may see the return of the bimbo hive route in that mode then?

I've never outsourced JUST non-sex, with NO sex -- I can write a character's non-sex stuff very quickly myself, it's the sex that's the actual difficult and time-consuming part (and which I enjoy much less than the non-sex part, tbqh). We outsource both sides together all the time (thank you Patreon/etc. backers).

That might explain why the adult content has felt a bit disconnected from the rest of the game to me. Along with why the corruption has felt different compared to the frist game.

I know you guys don't wanna say much about whatever game is next yet (which is understandable), but do you want to move on from smut games at all? Or is it just the fact that you've been working on the same one so long?
