Previously, the FZR was a good side-arm for Melee primary Steeles (who don't really have any good Stat Sticks to put in the Ranged slot). I was using it to cheese certain fights I didn't have the stats for, because I was waiting until Augment-Weave before seriously stat grinding.

Now, it feels like it's better for Ranged primary. The FZR could only be fired once/round (Rapid Fire notwithstanding), and it was a huge boost to Melee output. The weapons it's been added to don't have that limitation. Since the status is chance-based, it seems like it's better to try to proc it via multiple attacks, then use your 1 Melee attack to get the guaranteed critical. Assuming you don't think you're better off continuing to spam Ranged.

Might as well state what exactly has been changed about Deep Freeze at the start of this thread:
  • [Nerf] Deep Freeze's evasion debuff has been reduced to 5 (from 50).
  • [Nerf] Deep Freeze gets broken after the first crushing hit.
  • [Buff] Deep Freeze no longer prevents crushing critical hits (e.g. you can get a critical hit on a enemy with Deep Freeze and deal 4x the damage).
  • [Buff?] More weapons can apply Deep Freeze: Cryolizer, Entropy, and the Glacial Auger. (Not really a buff to Deep Freeze itself but worth mentioning)
