Is it cruel to continually brush off Azzy?

I've read around and I've seen that the general consensus is that people dislike the sudden change in direction in terms of the relationship between the PC and Azzy, when Liaden is involved. I've yet to redo the Dawnsword quest (I remember feeling pretty miffed at the dialogue there), but I can respect and appreciate the dialogue being rewritten to outline Azzy's and her people's stances on relationships- lots of love to spread around, etc- as well as the option to say a perma-no to Azzy when she asks you for help regarding setting her up with Liaden. The thing is, I'm the type of person who hates picking the mean dialogue in RPGs, letting them down otherwise, etc. So I keep telling her later, rather than just biting the bullet and saying no forever- even if it means I'd be more satisfied overall with scenes involving my PC and Azzy without having her make mention of Liaden somewhere. (Also I know, it's double standards to be able to sleep around with whomever you like, but still want your partner to NOT do the same- to be fair, I tried to be as monogamous as possible when I started my run.) So even if I did tell her no forever, there would still be that inkling in the back of my head saying "they're probably still yearning in the background, monster".

Am I just weird?

it isn't real, and thus nothing you do is capable of hurting others. they do not exist, they are simply a narrative tool that can be used to explore themes or not. it isn't cruel, strictly because Azzy and Liaden are not people with feelings to be considerate of. do what you want to see

Hah yeah, true that- but I still feel kinda guilty regardless, especially since I felt kinda vindicated when others felt like they were third-wheeling in the whole LiAzzy thing too
This is a porn game. If your not into it don't engage with it; just use the never option the first time Azzy asks about Liaden and be done with it.

Some brain facts for ye: The brain itself can't actually differentiate between emotions invoked by real people and fictional people; that's a step you have to acknowledge and deal with manually. So you can't help how you feel but you CAN control how you react to those emotions and the steps you take going forward.

In regards to the LiAzzy stuff, I really love it but I also massively prefer polycules/open relationships over anything even faintly monogamous. Most of the people I've talked to who like LiAzzy are the same way. Can't third wheel if you're part of the relationship, ya know. Most of the people who dislike the LiAzzy stuff - from my personal observation - are people that prefer the opposite or prefer to be at the center of attention.

That being said, it really is just a game. Simply say No and move on! It's an option for a reason.

Yes. Welcome to the club.
Now to commission the writer to make a sad, crying Azzy scene randomly proc after you say No. You catch her wistfully looking at a lock of Liaden's hair, but she notices you and hides it, forcing a smile while saying it's nothing.
The existence of such a scene will all but guarantee the corruption of the hive in many playthroughs.

First it's just fucking game. So what's the problem with playing "bad" character for fun of it? You, for example, playing Dark Urge in Baldur's Gate 3, won't mean that you will go and do all that BS irl.
Second, what's the problem with saying No if you really don't like something or disagree with something?
Third, in this game world, even without Kas doing shit around, free/open relationship are not something uncommon, rather it's opposite. And, considering nature of the game, I strongly suspect that Azzy is not your only lover. Don't you thing it's a bit unfair and hypocritical, with you going and fucking pussies around, yet denying same for your partners?

what I do is, I don't even take Azzy outside of the hive for that reason, but if you really want her then yea, just continue to say later and ignore it, its not really mean if you just say that, or you could as for it to not involve you if you do decide to introduce them

I just don't see saying No as mean in this case, rather it honest to Azzy.
Valid option, but sort of locks you out of Azzy content, no?

Oh definitely- one of those times where I gotta sit back and tell myself "oh right, these characters aren't real", and pick relevant options and move on (and I did)

And it's cool to know you like the LiAzzy content- at the end of the day it's all personal preference for sure, maybe I'm too vanilla to partake in polycule-related content but I'm not gonna be upset someone else enjoys that sorta thing- like Azzy said, too much love to give to just one person, right?

Hahaha I'd probably grit my teeth and set them up just by virtue of wanting to keep my companions happy

Oh I didn't say I had a problem with playing bad/villainous PCs- people like to do so and find it fun, and all the power to them, I just mean that due to my personal preference, I don't like picking those options (though I did eventually just tell her straight up no, it is a game after all). My only problem was treating the characters as a bit too real- again, like I said before, I eventually did just tell myself that it is just a game at my enjoyment should come first.

Also I did recognise the whole culture- Azzyran even tells you as such when you tell her no forever, I also recognised the double standards- again, it is just a game after all, double standards don't apply to you inside the game.

Sorry if I upset you or something, wasn't my intention- was just a bit of lighthearted showerthoughts I thought would be funny to share.

wasn't really talking about saying no, just how harsh yall were about them not wanting to be mean, even if it's a game not everyone can just be (what they consider) mean all of a sudden, though i do agree its better to just say no and be done with it, if it makes you feel bad just ignore the text

As someone who revaluated their opinion when it comes LiAzzy, I enjoy it very much. It is the only proper poly relationship, in my opinion, where each partner feels equally included. Althogh I understand that it can be frustating when most of the wasps recent additions are focused around her/Azy/femchamp, which leaves malechamps without much to do with their companion. So if you feel like you are being mean for seperating them, do not be. It is never really brought up again and It is not really fulfiling if you are not into being all Lez with your GFs.
