I'm not totally sure why but the sidebar inventory button is disabled for me, I can still access the inventory using the keyboard shortcut but the button itself is disabled. I imagine it's a simple toggle but you guys stopped leaving the source map accessible so I can't really figure out what exactly to toggle. This is probably an issue on my end, since I tend to mess around with stuff but at the same time it does seem like a potential problem.

It's definitely not on your end. I reported that bug already a month ago and added a save file that definitely had never been tampered with.
[0.9.028] Inventory button greyed out
The inventory button for me is completely broken in the new built. It's permanently greyed out. The hotkey still opens it up though.

That bug was added to the game with update 0-9-028. It doesn't occur when opening affected save files with version 0-9-027 of the game.
In Bast's case and perhaps others, it was because their game is partially in a game over state: gameOverEvent is true. Could have been a bad undo or something, that feature is very incomplete.
